Q: Student accommodation?
Hello I'm going to uni next year and i think i have to share a bathroom and i'm not sure how it work will someone explain like is there more than one loo because i heard 10 people share them. Please help

A: University accommodation varies from uni to uni. Some rooms have en suites or pods, others will be 12 people sharing a block of wc/showers (6) and some will be 4 to 1 bathroom, as I said all depends on the uni and price you are willing to pay. You need to check out the accommodation available at each Uni as all are different.

Q: Student accommodation in Odense?
I've been notified a few days ago that I've been accepted at the Odense Technical college for a full degree 2 year programme. I am now desperately trying to find student accommodation posibilities. :( 1. What are my options? 2. If I leave for a period of time (min 2 weeks/ max 3 months) to go to my home country , will I have to look for new accommodations when I come back?! 3. What are the general costs for student housings? Thank you. Uhm, forgot to mention Odense is in Denmark.

A: You should contact the school and ask for further informations. I don't live in Odense, so I don't know exactly what they have. But in Denmark we have student accomodations for all higher education istitutions. The costs in such a place should be around 1500-2500 dkr a month for one room. But ask the school, they will definently be able to help you. Best of luck

Q: I am looking for help with setting up Student Accommodation in Cape Town?

A: When I was at UCT the best student digs were around Rondebosch, Mowbray, Rosebank and Observatory. Tugwell hall is an official residence in Rosebank near the Theatre and there are of course the traditional halls on campus at UCT, Jammie Hall being one of them..... The areas above are all feasibly within walking/cycling distance of UCT although "going up" the hill will certainly build up your leg muscles....

Q: Student Accommodation in Edinburgh - I'm stuck?

Q: Was there a suicide at the Firth Point student accommodation in Huddersfield, UK?
I was recently told that a record was found on the internet pertaining to a student suicide in the Firth Point halls of residence in Huddersfield, and was wondering if this is true. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone happens to know which flat this was in it'd be a great help. Thanks Alex

A: I hope not.

Q: What is the best bet for an international student at Leeds Uni for accommodation?
I am moving to Leeds this September for a taught masters, and would like to know whether university accommodation is truly better than a private flat, for a first-timer like me. Yeah, denial. I am looking for privacy. I dont mind flatmates as long as I am given my own room. The main thing I am looking at is cost... the private ones are cheaper generally arent they..

A: Hmmmm....well, I did private accomodation when I lived in Leeds in 2005. I saw the university accomodation for Leeds Met - and I really didn't like it. Bad showers and all that. I lived in the Mary Morris int'l residence (I'm American). While it wasn't the NICEST place...it had hot showers....:-p I've got a thing about having nice bathrooms. It all depends on what you are looking for. Privacy? No flatmates? Got to be more specific.

Q: Is it a good idea to rent a student accommodation in Birmingham UK or it is better to go to the student dorm?

A: The majority of students live in student dorms for their first year, wherever they are in the UK. This generally gives you the best social experience, and allows you to make loads of new friends really quickly. After the first year, is when most people rent their own student accomodation, WITH their new friends they've already made!!!!

Q: Student Accommodation in Glasgow - Need Information?

Q: Student Accommodation in London?
Most uni's I have applied for in London give you a room the first year but you have to find your own the next 2 years? Where can I look for accommodation on the internet? What type is cheaper? I want my own bathroom no matter what.

A: Your university will have an accomodation office with resources to help you. For example, my uni had an online list for students with rooms available to other students. If you are studying in central London, you will struggle to find somewhere with your own bathroom unless you can afford to live alone. Most students end up sharing a flat with friends they make in the first year. The cheapest solution is to share with others in a flat within walking distance of your uni so you save on travel costs and your rent and bills are shared. You can try www.gumtree.com for flats to rent but I seriously doubt you'll want to pay that much money for private accomodation by yourself. Also look at http://www.accommodationforstudents.com/ There are larger residential buildings for students - a bit like student halls - that offer studios and en suite rooms. Have a look at Unite - http://www.unite-students.com/

Q: What are the taxation (declaration) requirements of hosting student accommodation in NSW? Do you declare it?
One or two students living with you

A: It is my understanding that you have to declare it as rental income, if you use e tax it will guide you through what you need to disclose etc

Q: Confused about student accommodation for next year [UK]?
Hey Well, we're told to start putting our names down for accommodation December/January at the latest for September '09 (I'm a first year) but I have no idea what I'll be doing then? When would you have to be certain about what you're doing? Accommodation is usually gone by March so does that mean putting down a deposit? The only 1 student person I'd want to share with is thinking about commuting next year and houses are supposed to comprise of 4-6 people. If i was wanting to get a 1 bed flat with my non-student boyfriend how would that work? Would we just apply for non-student accommodation and I'd be council tax exempt? When would we start looking for that?

A: Hi i used to work for a student accommodation site called UNITE. They have properties all over the U.K. (I assume you mean private student accommodation by the way as supposed to uni owned buildings/halls of residence). Anyway, we used to have 2 intakes of students move in per year.End of June and September. Altho our flats were very popular, we had rooms still available right up until August time atleast so im surprised you are being asked to put your names down now. Its maybe different for each company but wot we did was ask the potential tenant to pay a booking fee (which was something like £50 I think - its been a while lol) and you pay this when you hand in your registration form (the form with all your details on;guarantor info, payment plan choice, length of tenancy etc). This booking fee is non refundable! but it does guarantee you a room in September. Most student accommodation flats are 4 - 6 beds like you say but you dont necessarily need to know someone to move in with. They try matching you up with people of similar personalities and who are studying the same course as you etc. so you feel more settled in. Once your tenancy has been printed off, shortly after handing in the form, thats when you pay the deposit. You can still pull out of the tenancy agreement if say in June you change your mind and have other plans, and you will get your deposit back. I think the cut off is something like 30 days before the start date of your contract. Hope some of this is of use. To some up, id put your name down now and pay the refundable deposit, so atleast you have something secured.
