Q: How could I study in Finnish university undergraduate program? What language certificate do I need?
I would like to learn Finnish language in Finland and then, study in Finnish university in the undergraduate program. Where can I study the language? What language test do I need to pass to get into Finnish university's undergraduate program? How hard is it to pass?

A: I'm afraid there is no other way for you to start the studies in Finland than either 1) being an exchange student (which means that you have NO rights to finish a degree here, only study part-time!!!) or 2) move to Finland and pass the entrance test (this is the only way to get the rights to studying the language into a full degree). At the moment there is hardly NO tuition in ANY Finnish university in English, unfortunately, and each of Finland's universities do have their own policies and language skills requirements so you need to ask it directly from the university you are trying to get in.

Q: How competitive is the nursing program at University of Tampa ?
Im interested in the nursing program at the University of Tampa and was wondering if anyone knew how competitive it is to get in the program ? And any other bits of info you have. And I have already checked the website for info, & Im looking for additional info ... preferably from ut and/or nursing students.

A: I'm a high school senior and I plan on transferring here from New York for nursing also. I heard that if your an out of state applicant , its harder to get into the Florida schools. So if you are a out of state applicant, it may be a lot more difficult for you to get in..especially for nursing being as competitive as it is. If you are a Florida resident, I'm guessing that you have to have a better chance to get in..depending on your grades .. Go on collegeboard.com http://collegesearch.collegeboard.com/search/CollegeDetail.jsp?collegeId=599&profileId=0 all the info you may need. Good Luck and I hope I helped a little ! :)

I am trying to apply to the university. In a program that I want I may not tot be able to get in, but Ined to get in this school this year. Whichc programm will be the easiest one to get in? Thanks

Q: scholarships for US graduate university program?
are there any scholarships for US graduate university program offered for international students? where can i find more info?

A: When I went to grad school in Botany, working for a Masters, I sure did not get free tuition and I did not know of any PhD students getting free tuition!!! I had a teaching assistantship which paid a monthly stipend and also included a out-of-state fee waiver for part of the time. I taught lab sections of undergraduate botany courses. Granted this was 30 years ago but costs have only gone up. That said, most grad schools do offer teaching and/or research assistantships to graduate students. If you are in science and doing a thesis or dissertation, a research grant might be obtained that would cover much of the cost of your education along with the research for your project. For information contact the specific schools where you would like to apply. Every school is different.

Q: Bioinformatics Undergrad Program at University of Toronto or Waterloo?
I am trying to decide between two programs for University next year. The Bioinformatics program at the University of Waterloo is offered with co-op and is a five year program. If I went to the University of Toronto I would be in the Life Science program with a Bioinformatics major, no co-op, but only a four year program. I plan on continuing with a MD afterwards. Which University is better for me and for the Bioinformatics program?

A: (I'm not too familiar with the Bioinformatics program) The 5 year co-op program is very rewarding at Waterloo, as you can pretty much pay off your entire tuition with the earnings. As well, by the time you're finished, you'll have 2 years of work experience and a lot of contacts. However, it is a 5 year program, and with the co-op, you have no vacations (I'm already starting to feel the pain..) Since you're considering MD afterwards, many would suggest Toronto. It is a much more acclaimed and well know school especially beneficial for graduate school afterwards (although you can do exactly the same at waterloo). A lot of people believe that Waterloo is for people who want immediate job experience and can find a job right away after graduation, where as Toronto is for people who pursue further studies after graduation. This may be true in a way, but I think that which ever school you choose, is the best one for you, and will give you the most benefits in the end. I dont think it is wise to choose a school based on its statistics, (how many students graduate, how many attend graduate school etc..) but rather which school will make you feel like you're in the right place. I suggest you take some campus tours, speak to some of the professors if you haven't already. In the end, which every school you decide to go to, will be the best one for you. Best of wishes.

Q: Which has the better premed program: University of Chicago or University of North Carolina Chapel HIll?
I'm considering both schools. The U of Chicago has an extremely prestigious academic program, but I also read in a magazine that UNC is the best premed school in the country. Please help!

A: The University of Chicago is very highly regarded. (regardless of what neighborhood it is in) Some of the most talented professionals have gone through that school. I am sure that things change a lot from year to year though depending on which ratings you are reading. A trip to the campus and being able to ask alumni what they thought of the program might be more telling than a magazine rating.
