Q: What are some exchange student programs for high schoolers?
I am interested in being a REAL exchange student, you know going and living with a family for a couple months, or whatever amount of time. I would like to go to Australia, what are some programs that host exchange students there?
I am already in the People to People program to Europe this summer, but I'm interested in a real exchange student program for next year.
A: I'm not sure how to become a real exchange student, but I think if you were to ask your school counsler that they could help you.
I am doing people to people as well and was wondering if you would be able to help me figure out how to raise the money to go this summer? I'll add you as a friend and you can accept if you want to help me out.
Q: Are there any free foreign exchange student programs for America to Germany?
I'm going into tenth grade, and want to go to Germany for my junior year. My friend is going Germany this coming year, but she doesn't know the programs name and she is going completely cost free, and for a whole academic school year.
Do you know any programs like this one?
A: Nope noting.
Q: Student exchange programs from India to USA or Australia?
hi! i m a girl 14 years old and i have just started studying in 10th grade in India.I want to know every single thing about student exchange programs like about the student visa(how to apply for it),organizations, fees, scholarships, etc. In additional info. i would like to tell that i get very good grades and i like to learn new things.I also want to know that which place is better to go: USA (any city) or Australia(Melbourne)?Plz share your personal experience if you have one?
A: exchange programs happen through sister cities, and you will have better luck going to a local gov't building and asking them if there is an exchange program instated. I live in America, and the exchange program from my city goes to New Zealand, China, Germany, Macedonia, South Korea, France, and South Africa.
You can always wait till youre in college and just try to get into a school abroad, that might be an easier solution.
Good luck!
Q: Is there a good short movie on Exchange Student programs I can use for a school presentation?
I'm doing a presentation in school about studying abroad as an exchange students and the experiences you gain from it. I'm trying to find a good short movie/ movie clip/film or short documentary on it. Where can i find one? thank you =)
A: There are a few, but you probably wouldn't be able to use them. Almost all videos are licensed for "private home viewing" only. That means that without special permission from the film's producers, it would be illegal to show the film in your class. You're better off coming up with an alternative for your presentation than risking a failing grade for violating copyright laws.
Q: Scholarship sites or student loans forgivable programs?
I found like 2 sites but they arent funding. Aren't there organizations that will help repay student loans or programs that gives scholarships to parents trying to finish school? Most you have to be either in Med, nursing, social worker, or a teacher. what about the rest of the population.
A: May be this site can help you

Q: What are some good legit foreign exchange student programs?
I want to go to England next year for a SEMESTER ONLY.
I'm going to be a senior.
What are some good, legit programs that offer semester only programs during the school year in England
AFS doesn't offer England though.
And I don't care if it's first semester or second, I just want to go. haha
Also is ASSE a good program?
How about http://www.study-abroad-uk.com/
A: The top three are AFS, YFU and Rotary.
If you want a first semester program, you may be out of luck -- applications may be closed (especially for Rotary). You might have better luck with second semester.
Q: Does anybody know anything about the Student Loan programs available to college students?
What is the maximum amount a student can borrow each year and who are the best Lenders to borrow from?
A: It all varies based on where you are. Talk to a financial adviser at your desired school. They will walk you through it.
Q: How much does it cost (on average) to participate in the People to People Student Ambassador Programs?
I got invited to be a People to People Student Ambassador and I really want to do it but I'm worried about the cost.
If it helps any it the Europe one.
I checked the website and the prices aren't on it.
A: i recieved the letter also, and the europe trip cost like about 6,499 doallers for the traditions of europe, for Ireland, Wales, England, France, Belgium, and the Netherlands for 19 days. Some other programs may just be for Italy, France, and Spain, and proably cost a bit cheaper.
Q: what are some good exchange student programs?
i really want to go to korea. but i cant really find any that are going to korea.
can you help me?
A: The top three programs are AFS, YFU and Rotary. I know the former operate with Korea for sure -- not sure about Rotary. Rotary is the cheapest of the three, but most competitive. These three organizations are also still volunteer and don't promote the "resume building" that is becoming a primary reason for an exchange.

Q: Are there student exchange programs that allow 14 year olds & homeschooled?
My sister will be 14 soon and she wants to go to Japan as a foreign exchange student freshman year. She has been homeschooled since 6th grade and doesn't know what her grades are as she hasn't been properly tested since 5th grade. She has been studying the language independently for a little under a year I believe. She wants to study abroad for the entire freshman year. Any suggestions are apreciated! I know this is an unusual situation.
A: Most programs will work with homeschooled students. However, NO reputable program will send a 14-year-old. Government requirements state that students should be between 15 and 18 1/2 to do a foreign exchange. Unfortunately, you sister will just have to wait another year. Besides, 14 is just too young. I know I would not consider hosting a 14-year-old, or even a 15-year-old for that matter.
However, that's not necessarily a bad thing. That gives her more time for language study and time to raise money. Exchange years are expensive!
Since she is home schooled, it make take a bit more work with the exchange program as well. She may have to be tested in order to provide some form of transcripts.
To find a program, first make sure it's CSIET listed (www.csiet.org). You might also make a call to the local high school and see if the counselor there will recommend a program to you. A program is only as good as its local representatives. AFS, Aspect, Rotary and YFU are generally reliable everywhere. Rotary is the cheapest, but most competitive. I do know that YFU takes homeschooled students for sure, as I was involved with one of those a few years back.
For more information on becoming an exchange student, have your sister go to http://www.exchangestudentworld.com/ -- an online community of exchange students.
Good luck!
Q: Where can I find sponsored student exchange programs?
I'm from South East Asia and I'm 16.
I like travelling and getting a taste of different cultures, and the ways of life of people from different places. I thought an exchange program would be a good idea but I don't know where to start, and if there are any sponsored programs.
A: Do you mean sponsored as in paid for? If so, they really don't exist. You need to pay for programs.
The top three in the world are AFS, YFU and Rotary. You might look into those.

Q: Any student exchange programs for a high school student?
I'm in 9th grade, and thinking of becoming a student exchange to France. I'm really intrested in learnin French. I wouldn't mind going to Spain either, but I speak Spanish, and I want to learn a new language. I'm aware that these exchange things a pretty expensive. So I also want to know more about the scholorship or financhial aid. I also wouldn't mind hosting a student, but I can't for the lack of space.
Also tell me about your expieriences of being an exchange student.
A: American Field Service is a great organization. They get plenty of students who want to come to the USA to study but have a hard time finding American students who want to spend a year abroad.
http://www.afs.org/afs_or/home
Cost is just your spending money. The host family covers your living expenses.
We've had students stay with us for a year. Then my daughter went abroad and it was a fantastic experience.
Q: people to people student ambassador programs-how does the home stay family work?
when the student is staying a few days with the home stay family, do they still have a schedule to follow, or do they randomly do whatever the family allows them to do?? can the family take them places if the student would like to go??
A: On my last trip, most of us were sent w/ a family by ourselves, some people were w/ with one other person. You will meet the family and do what ever they have planned for you to do. The family will may or may not ask you where would you like to go before they leave. There might be a few things you have to do, like i had to go to school for a day. If there are any emergancies the manager will give you a number to call and a code word so the leaders can come and get you to put into a new home. I thought my homestay was the highlight of my trip.
Q: Are there student exchange/homestay type programs for adults?
I am no longer a student (although I'm college-aged), but I would like to visit other countries via homestay programs or other programs that offer other affordable but outside of the typical tourist opportunities. Can anyone suggest anything? Thanks!
A: There are some hostels that allow for a cheaper stay, but they are not free, just try googling what you are interested in/
Q: Is people to people student ambassador programs a scam?
I got this letter saying that i was invited to go to england, france, belgium, and the netherlands to study at these places . It says its founded by presdent Dwight D. Eisnhower. If anyone knows about this program, like if i have to pay to travel or if its fake please tell me.
A: NO, it is not a scam! lol. i went on a trip last year with people to people to England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. it was the best time of my life! i met sooo many amazing kids and learned sooo much! it's not like school or anything, you pretty much go to a bunch of places and learn. you may have a silly little quiz every now and then; but you can't fail. they also give you a high school credit once you have completed the program. also, you were sent that letter because you were either nominated by a teacher or a student in your school that has been on a trip with them the previous year.
yes...it is expensive. most europe (they have ones that go to asia and australia) trips range from $6,000-$8,000. although, you can pay by month (about $900 per month) or choose any other type of billing plan that you want. people to people also offers fundrasing programs. i know a girl that was in my group who raised every single cent for her trip! also, EVERYTHING is included in the price. hotels, 3 meals a day, attractions, transportation, airline tickets, etc are all included.
Misc. Info:
-most trips last about 20 days.
-you go with a "delegation" which is made up of about 40 kids from your area as well as 4 "leaders" who are teachers from your area.
-you have a homestay...where you live with a family in the country that you are visiting for 2 or 3 days.
-you have to go through a process in order to be accepted (3 letters of reccomendation and an interview) although, they accept most kids
-you have monthly meetings with your delegation before you leave to get to meet the kids and leaders
-IT WILL BE THE BEST EXPERIENCE OF YOUR LIFEEEE!
have fun. and good luck :]
