school programs questions and answers

Q: Scholarships to night law school programs for nonprofit employees?
I work full time for a nonprofit, and I got into law school at night and I want to go, but nonprofit work doesn't pay very much and law school is pretty expensive. The school I'm going to doesn't have any scholarships available for its night program, so I'm wondering about the possibility of outside funding. I've looked at fastweb and those sites, but there aren't very many scholarships out there for law schools, most of the financial aid is for more academic programs. Can anyone help me out?

A: Does your school accept the FAFSA? You should be able to get financial aid through the federal government. As for scholarships, fastweb is really the biggest database out there.

Q: What are the benefits of after school programs?
I'm trying to make an after school program but i have to write a paper on why i chose to do this. One of the questions is how are after school programs beneficial. Along with my own research i would like to know from you guys why after school programs are beneficial for students. the program that i'm doing is a music club where students can learn more about genres of music, make friends through music and collaborate with other musicians (if they are one)

A: Students are not interested in after school programs. They are fed up of school after a long day and would like to go somewhere to unwind.

Q: What are good High School homeschooling programs?
I'm going to home school myself for the rest of my freshman year. And I was wondering what are some good at home high school programs that i could look into? Also will there be any programs that will let me finish this year as a homeschooler and still get my freshman credits from public school?

A: I recommend Keystone National High School for you. Keystone National High School is an accredited online high school. Keystone has online courses and correspondence courses (courses sent through the mail). Also, most of Keystones' online courses come with textbooks. You decide which course format you want, whether you want your courses delivered in the online format or the correspondence format or you can blend both the online and correspondence formats together and take them at the same time. They also grant you an accredited high school diploma, if you want to earn an accredited high school diploma through them. To be able to earn an accredited high school diploma through Keystone National High School, you will have to complete the high school graduation requirements of Keystone National High School. If you don't wish to earn an accredited high school diploma through them and you only wish to supplement your high school curriculum in which you are already enrolled, you can take individual courses which will earn you credits through them. Students around the world too can enroll in their accredited online high school program. You can learn more about Keystone National High School at http://www.keystonehighschool.com .

Q: Why are after-school programs being threatened in the lausd?
What chances do you think they'll have to thrive? I currently work as an after-school coach and am bewildered at the fact they would jeopardize removing such a good program.

A: Because a majority of the funding for schools, 55% to be exact comes from the local property tax for that area. Every school district is seeing a high amount of evictions and forclosures which means less property tax which means less funding for the school. So until the federal government decides to start giving more than 5% of the funding to school your probably gonna see a lot of cuts. Larger schools though will see less of this effect especially in richer zip codes so find a better neighborhood to work in.

Q: Is there a reliable source that rates college graduate school programs?
I am a political science major looking into Graduate schools in the New England area, particularly New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Connecticut or Massachusetts. I have a special interest in pursuing Environmental Policy. However, I am having a problem ranking the programs, I don't want to pay a ton of money to go to an institution that doesn't have name recognition.

A: New week is pretty reliable and it publishes the rankings annually. One thing you should remember regarding graduate school is that if it is a unique area of study, there may not be a lot to compare it to. you should look for actual value added aspects of the program. you are interested in pursuing Environmental Policy, so you want to look for a school that give you hands on experience in the field (internships, career oriented organizations, etc). You also want to make sure that there are several full-time faculty members devoted to that program as well as connections with the surrounding community. Since most students going to graduate school have some type of full-time work experience in the same or related field, this is something that will give them that extra boost in their career. I wouldn't rely solely on rankings because they don't always tell the whole story.

Q: why should teen get involved in after school programs/avtivites?
for school im doing a prooject on why teens should involve themselves in after school programd and activities. i need help coming up with reason teen should involve themselves in them & the benifits they recieve, and why it is good to be in after school programs and activities.

A: These things look good on a college application. It makes you look like you did more than just show up to school, you actually got involved in other activities and are a well-rounded individual. I think it also helps kids stay out of trouble (to some extent). Instead of being home alone waiting for their parents to get off work, they are at a place where they are supervised and can have fun. As much as I hate to sound like a cliche, it does help keep some kids off the streets and away from crime. It can allow students to work on their social skills and meet new people. They may make a new friend that they would have never had the opportunity to meet outside of the after-school activity.
