A: To disable Interactive Services Dialog Detection messages in Vista, search the word “services” in your Start menu, click on Services when it comes up, and find Interactive Services Detection in the list of services. Right click it, and click Properties. Here, you can either Stop the service, or choose “Disabled” from the Startup Type menu. Either of these things will stop these messages from appearing.

A: I have no clear idea what you are asking but since this is the infectious disease section, I am going to take a shot in the dark. I once knew a director of nursing who wanted to educate her staff on infection control she went around with this special solution and pretended it was a new antimicrobial alcohol solution. She asked all the staff to try it out and put it on thier hands. The solution was actually a chemical you could not see with the eye, but only under a special light. Later in the shift, she went back and took each staff to a private area one by one and shined the light on thier hands. Many staff members still had areas on thier hands where the solution showed up... despite the fact they had been working for hours and supposed to have washed thier hands several times (between each patient). This gave each staff education on where they were in thier handwashing policy. If I were to implement a new program regarding infection control at a facility, I would start with this wonderful idea.

My company has done custom programming for 25 years. For most of those years I have been trying to develop ways to communicate the benefits of our services. My initial efforts were very simple: determine the time saved per week then calculate the total time and money saved over a 5 years. But I have come to realize that things are not that simple. For example, saving an hour a day works fine if the hour is one contiguous hour. However, saving an hour of thirty 2 minute interruptions s at a time over the course of a day can be much more than a one hour’s savings. This example means 30 interruptions a day. The more concentration required for a job, the greater the impact. In the programming field, it can take several minutes to "get back to where we started" when interrupted. This is not unlike being interrupted while taking a Calculus exam. I am trying to develop a really comprehensive way to present the benefits of our services and any suggestions are welcome. In the first example (contiguous hour), the program we wrote compiled information into a report in a few seconds and presented it in a fully formatted Excel spreadsheet. In the second, we wrote a program to automatically email customers with status reports eliminating the need go into Outlook to send the status reports.
