Q: Online Degree Program?
What online institution is well reputed and widely acceptable for a degree
program in Computer Science or realated subject
A: I think you willl find that as long as the school is regionally accredited that it will be widely accepted and reputable. This site has some good information on regionally accredited online computer science programs and some schools to help begin your search:
http://www.ecollegefinder.org/online-computer-degrees.aspx
Best of luck!
Q: devry university called me say they have a game simulation program online degree is it a skam
i want to design games for a living but is an online degree gonna get me anywhere or is it a wast of my time please only reply if you really know what your talking about
A: Devry is a school that a lot of employers violently dislike. While some don't care, and some even say they like it, every company I've ever worked for refuses to hire its graduates. Won't even look at them.
So if you can get into someplace better, that may be a good idea.
And online? In general, I advise students to get their most important education, like their bachelors degree, in person rather than online. I only suggest online if a student absolutely can't get to a campus based program due to lifestyle issues - they move a lot, or have a young baby, or work swing shifts, etc. This is because employers still look down on online degrees, and students are actually more likely to graduate from school if they go in person than if they go online.
Q: online degree program that will accept credits from a community college in louisana for a bachelor of arts?
A: As long as your community college is accredited, you should have no problem transferring some of them to a regionally accredited online university. I would consider such universities as Grand Canyon University (www.gcu.edu), Walden University (www.waldenu.edu), and North Central University (www.ncu.edu). Also, if you're looking to save money on college, a lot of state universities now offer entire bachelors degrees online. Maybe LSU has one of these? Good Luck! Just make sure that your university is regionally accredited by someone like SACS or WACS.
Q: what is the cheapest...accredidated Master's Degree online program to get my Master's in Special Education?
A: Here is a link for you

They have multiple online school research tools that helps you to find the right school.
Q: I need to register an online degree program for Interior Designs (that is VERY moderate)with any U.K College?
Here in Nigeria,am into the Interior business, where we furnish homes and
offices with Doors,Wardrobes,Kitchens,Tables,Beds e.t.c.,so I need to enhance my knowlege and skill in the field as I don't really have any formal
training in this field, hence my intention to study the course "if there's any"
A: Heres a couple of websites that do online courses in interior design:

Q: Which brick and mortar school has the best online degree?
Which school has the best online degree program? I'm only talking about schools associated with well known "Brick and Mortar" institutions like Harvard, Yale and so on. Please dont tell me about how great or meaningless a degree from capella, uni of phoenix, etc.. is because thats not what I'm asking.
The best and most respected graduate school I'm pretty sure is Harvard but does that mean a degree from their "Harvard extension school" is best and most respected online degree?
Some other places with extension schools that offer online degrees that come to mind are:
Northeastern University
MIT
University of Massachusetts at Amherst
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
University of Denver
University of Maryland
Duke University
Drexel
Carnegie Mellon
Penn State
Ball State
U Nebraska - Lincoln
Babson
Worcester Polytechnic Institute
University of Illinois
Penn State
Colorado State U
etc...
Best school for business?
RoaringMice, thanks for the list. I added a few schools to it.
Thanks I'll have to look into Babson, Duke, and Thunderbird, any others?
Also why did Harvard extension have a bad rep, I've always associated anything with Harvard to be top notch.
Thanks. great info. Also I have been trying out Empire State College just for a b.s. degree. They arnt associated with a brick and mortar school but are part of the well known SUNY school system and from are respected atleast here in upstate NY. What do you think? is it worth going there for a undergrad degree?
A: Hey! That's my list! (ETA: I'm glad I could help. Take the list and share it with friends!)
It depends on what you want to major in. If you want to major in computer science or any sort of IT/computer engineering type of field, then I'd have you look at Carnegie Mellon and RPI as the best. MIT might also be good, but the CM and RPI distance learning programs are far more established. If you wanted business, I'd recommend Babson or Duke or Thunderbird. Art, I'd recommend SCAD.
So what are your interests?
And I actually have mixed feelings about Harvard Extension. It's rep in the past was *not* a good one, at least in New England. I've heard that it has made vast improvements since, but I don't yet have enough proof of that to be able to say that yes, I recommend it. ETA: I think their rep is because, employers viewed their classes to not be at the same academic level as the rest of Harvard. In addition, you get a bachelor in liberal arts, rather than having a focus in a subject area, and some employers frown on that. They consider that sort of degree - rightly or wrongly - to be an easy way for adults to get a degree.
ETA: Business, then, at the undergraduate level (Thunderbird is only MBA.) I'd have you look at the following good schools with good business programs, and good reps for their online programs:
- Babson
- Penn State
- Kent State, if you're in the midwest
- U Delaware
- U Florida
- U Maryland
- UMass Amherst
- Rochester Institute of Tech
- Rensselaer Polytechnic
Interestingly, although I might not normally recc RIT and RPI to a business major, I do for their online programs. These are solid schools, respected business programs, and because for these schools their emphasis is on tech, their online programs tend to be quite strong and well supported.
I've also heard that Rutgers recently started an online degree program, and it does offer business. I'd have you check their website.
Q: My graduate school isn't verifying my degree certificate (online program), what to do?
I did my graduate degree through an online program and then went on to do my post graduate degree from a recognized school, there weren't any issues but recently the local franchise through which I did my graduate program closed their operations and just to ensure that all is good I tried to get my credentials verified from the University and they refused to acknowledge the degree. Though I have a post graduate degree from another University but I am still concerned because while I have a Masters degree I don't have a Bachelors degree anymore! Please suggest what should I do? Should I register myself into another bachelors program and if I do so, what will be the standing of my post graduate degree or is there any other option which I can opt?
A: Hey,
Not to be rude, but you really shoul not have done you Bachelor's degree through an online service, but what you should do is go through an Accredidation Service. The US has multiple Accredidation services that certify the value to college degrees, and usually students who attend universities overseas or lesser-known institutions need to go through this.
They evaluate whether the courses and course content you went through in credible. They also look at the college or university in which you received your degree. It's a hassle to go through this process, but many students have done it. Just hope that they do not reject you, because then you degree may not have any merit or value.
Also be aware that private businesses and organizations normally do not look for verifications and so forth, they simply want to know you have a degree and are capable in withstanding the task at hand. Public agencies, on the other hand, require it so good luck.
Q: Good online program for a degree in Anthropology
I want to get a degree in Anthropology. I am busy, and work a lot to pay my bills, so it has to be online. I can't find any website that is any good for getting my degree. Could you help me?
BTW - If your going to simply say how much online schooling sucks, don't bother replying because it's all I can do and you are a stuck up snob to judge what is all somebody can do.
A: Take a look at the BA in Social Sciences at Pitt - it's not a true anthropology major but can include a lot of anthro coursework.
http://www.cgspitt.org/academics-majors.cfm
Athabasca in Canada has a 3-year and a 4-year bachelor's degree in anthropology.
http://www.athabascau.ca/programs/outcomes.php
Don't do a 3-year bachelor's if you're later going to want to get a master's degree.
Other than these two, you're looking at generalist social sciences degrees - there's not a lot of anthropology online out there yet.
Oxford ("the Oxford") teaches some archaeology online. http://onlinecourses.conted.ox.ac.uk/subjects/archaeology.php
Q: Online Degree Program?
I am about to graduate from Axia College of the University of Phoenix with an AA in business. I am going to continue to get my BA, but I am concerned with having the UoP name behind me. I want a better school name on my resume. I have been searching for a school that has distance learning programs offered exclusively online, but the only ones that seem to do that, for business, are no-name schools. Is my only option to continue with a school that I am not so proud of? Granted a degree from a no-name school is better than no degree at all, but I want to make the most out of this. Can anyone suggest an undergrad business school or a web link that has a list of ranked online business schools? I have done countless searches for this with no meaningful results.
I have a 3.79 GPA with UoP.
I need online because I am employed full time. I live in Jacksonville, FL and I am not happy with the local choices.
A: There are tons of online programs. I personally attended traditional and online-only schools, and I have taught for various online schools and traditional schools over the last five years. All are accredited and solid programs. Schools tend to vary in price, so we could say online schools are more expensive, but that is relative. Of course they are more expensive than a community college, but less expensive than Harvard. The price range varies.
The key is to find a program that is fully accredited. Is it worth it? YES. My career has boomed since my MBA at nearly 5 years ago. I am close to finishing my PhD through distance education, and I am at the job that I want. I know I wouldn’t be here without the education. If you are looking at work in the U.S., then you need a school that is accredited and recognized by the Dept of Ed. I can give more info on that later.
You should market yourself and not the degree or university. There are many traditional universities offering degrees that can be earned through online methods. Distance Learning Alliance has a list of these traditional online schools. Look at that if you are truly concerned with the name of the school. Good luck on your search!
Q: What should I major in? MUST find a degree program 100% online!!!?
I attended college between 1993-1999 (off and on as my schedule permitted). I was actually paying my own way through college and the debt just became too overwhelming. My major was Interior Design (not decorating). I know that major is going to be too time intensive...considering where I am in my life, now. I'm married, have an elementary aged child, no family living nearby, husband who works many hours, and I am working full time as well. I basically need to start over. I know that many of my credits are just too old now or just won't apply to a degree in Business or Nutrition, etc. I need a program that A. is near or less than $3000/year, B. 100% online (no A.A. or A.S. Degree as a requirement), and C. will be possible for me to earn more than $30K/year. I am interested in Nutrition (not cooking), Computer related programs (IT), possibly Speech, possibly business, possibly human resources. Thank you for any input you may have to offer.
A: For a list of online degree programs by field of study, check out Peterson's:
http://www.petersons.com/distancelearning/code/search.asp.
If you're interested in Interior Design still you may be able to apply much of your previous study to complete a degree or certificate program. Here's a list of schools in Florida with are accredited Interior Design schools:
http://www.accredit-id.org/accreditedprograms.html#florida
If you are seriously considering another field but not sure about what you'd like to do for what you need to make financially, visit the Occupational Outlook Handbook (http://www.bls.gov/oco/) by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. On this website you can run a search on a certain field of study/employment and check out what the job entails, the type and level of study and certification is required, and the future employment outlook.
PS. I'm glad to see your question again, b/c I felt horrible that you couldn't find the information I'd provided for you in the last question about Nutrition porgrams in Florida. So to answer your original question, here are the schools in Florida which offer programs in nutrition:
Bachelor's Degree: Florida State University & Miami Dade College
Associate's Degree: Broward Community College, Hillsborough Community College & Pensacola Community College.
Q: Have you ever heard of someone earning a dental hygenist's degree through an online program?
A: Jeez I sure hope not, that means theoretically ANYONE who passes certain tests online can work on my mouth. Maybe that was the story with that last lady that cleaned my teeth, ugh.
Q: Can I get into graduate school with an online undergraduate degree?
I work full time in order to support my family and am therefore working towards my undergraduate degree online from Washington State University's "Distance Degree" program (all courses are taken online). I intend on applying to law school when Im done (at which time I will go to law school full-time). However Im concerned about how serious the law school admissions board take online B.A degrees. Anyone out there ever been faced with a similiar situation??
A: Your degree will be from Washington State University and your transcripts should not differentiate between on line and ground based courses. It will show courses and grades, just like someone who earned their degree by sitting in classes. If your test scores, GPA and other supplemental admission materials for law school are solid it should make no difference that your earned your degree on line. Actually, they probably won't know unless you tell them.
Q: has anyone tried the degree at home/online classes program? are they any good?
more so, are they worth paying for? I would like to get a degree to be a veterinarian, but the closest school for it is 3 hours away.
A: If that's your dream, moving might be your best idea. Many of the online programs are looked down upon, especially in sciences, and that's at the undergrad level. I don't know how they could possibly replicate lab experience through a distance learning program. Becoming a veterinarian requires undergraduate and graduate study. Vet school absolutely can not be done online or at a distance.
Q: University of Phoenix vs. other Online Degree Schools?
Any one know if there is a better online degree program for Military personnel other than UofP? I am in the Coast Guard in Port Security, so my schedule is very chaotic. I want to further my education but a traditional school is impossible. I read that online degrees aren't worth it, but I also heard that it doesn't matter with life/work experience. Any one have any input on the matter? Thanks in advance.
A: You are smart to ask this question, since most employers do not give much credence to degrees from "online universities" like University of Phoenix / Axia, AIU, Capella, Penn Foster, etc. Degrees from these places are actually laughed at in academia.
However, you CAN further your education at a traditional school!
Many longstanding, regionally accredited, and completely reputable state universities now offer courses and even degrees online. This is called "distance education."
The links below are the absolute best you will find. They contain more links to many well-respected state university distance education programs, including the ones mentioned by other answerers, and so many more.
Best wishes to you!
Q: Upper Iowa University. Located in Iowa, but also offers online degrees and an external degree program.?
I live in Wisconsin and the classes are offered at another college in my town. Anyone heard of this? anyone went here?
A: A hybrid program sounds interesting and may create a larger networking basis. There are many “traditional” universities offering online degree programs and distance education. I mention these separately because even thought the terms tend to be used interchangeably, distance education encompasses correspondence, local campuses, hybrid, as well as online programs.
It is just a matter of finding a program that meets your career goals, an institution of higher education that is accredited, and the mix the fits your life. Greatest luck with your search.
