Q: Are there any nursing programs in GA where you dont hae to take all the core classes?
I was wanting to find out if there were any nursing programs where you dont have to take all of the regular core classes like english, etc.... not necessarily looking for a 3 week program or anything but I would like to finish school and be working as a nurse in the next 2 years. Thought I should make a note that I do not already have core classes done.

Q: How hard is it to get into the Nursing programs in these schools?
Penn State (University Park) University of Pittsburgh and University of Delaware How hard is it to get into 'a' nursing program? period

A: Actually, you still may not get in with a 3.0 GPA plus. It really depends on how many students the college of Nursing can take with them into the hospitals. It's easy to fill a classroom and only have five teachers... but the hospital clinicals part will only allow, say about, 100 people at most.... and that is a lot. CONTACT THE NURSING DEAN. Ask them about all of their policies, concerning grading scales, annual retesting issues (pharmacology), etc. There are a lot of rules that aren't really out there, unless you hunt for them. Also talk to some upper division nursing students. Best of luck. p.s. Keep in mind you will get accepted at first ... but that doesn't mean you'll get into the clinicals part, as I've stated above. Be on top of your game, always.

Q: Are there any non-impacted nursing programs in California?
It seems that all nursing programs in California are impacted. Is this true throughout the state? How about other states?

A: I could not find any when I was trying to get into nursing school, so I just waited a semester, took some classes over to get A's and B's and got into some community colleges and CSULB (I chose CSULB). You need to have good grades in sciences (anatomy, physiology, micorbiology, etc.) meaning no C's! It should not be a big problem if your grades are good. Good luck!

Q: How long are the average waiting list for nursing programs?
I'am still in high school and i will be graduating in another year and I am very worried that I wont be lucky enough to graduate nursing school by the time i'm 23. Is there a big possibilty that I will get out of nursing school at an age before 25?

A: Sure, my son graduated from nursing school at 23 after he had completed his AA at 21. All nursing schools have different requirements. The waiting list depends on things like your GPA, the number of pre-requisite courses you've completed, etc. It's a tough road to travel but my son says it's totally worth it. GOOD LUCK!

Q: Reasons why nursing programs turn away qualified students?
I'm looking for some reasons why it seems that more and more qualified applicants are turned away from good nursing programs.

A: About two-thirds of all qualified applicants to most nursing programs are turned away. Schools would love to accept more, but they are bound by student-faculty ratio requirements. Mostly, it’s about pay. Starting faculty with master’s degrees can make $45,000 to $65,000, but out in the field the same graduates can get up to $90,000.

Q: Do you know of any CNA nursing programs, that have night or weekend classes. That start soon.?
I'm still going through highschool and with my family out of work I wanted to look into becomming certified as a nursing assitant in sandigo ca. If you know anything it's great apreciated.

A: you can check local community college or newspaper to find out, many private training schools are available soon, but the tuition is high, and you need to determine if you like CNA or not, start salary is only $8 to 10/hr and mostly work in senior nursing home, many CNA drop out the field to become RN or change career.

Q: Which universities in the US have the best graduate nursing programs?
Who has the best MSN programs?

A: The top programs are The University of Washington, University of California-San Francisco and The University of Pennsylvania. US News ranks nursing programs. If you want to see the rest of the list, you either have to pay for it (see link below) or look at their annual "Best Graduate Schools" special edition. You can probably find it any any good book store or library. Someone else mentioned a California State University schools. In general, CSU schools do not enjoy a reputation of being very selective. While thay may have a good MS program -- it is highly unlikely that it has a high ranking.

Q: Do any Nursing Programs use art galleries the way Yale Med School does?
Yale Medical School started a program using an art gallery for all first year Yale medical students 9 years ago. The controlled study was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association 9/01. Yale staff has visited over 4 dozen medical schools and conferences to lecture and demonstrate their program. Many other schools have gotten involved and adopted a program that best suits their needs. How many others world-around do this? Any Nursing programs do this?

A: This may only be for the "upper crust" since 9/01 and now somebody will write an article for Google "knol" so that more of the hoi polloi will benefit. Found several articles about this, and maybe the election year in the US will push this into the attention of many. Good question - hope you get some decent answers.
