Q: What school has the best nursing program?
I am almost done with all my nursing pre requisites. I am considering transferring to one of two schools UT Arlington or Texas Woman's University. Which of the two have the best nursing program?
A: Girl, we are on the same boat! I heard that Texas Womans has the best program but it is very very very competitive and demanding. In my humble opinion they are both top schools in Texas, so, I would apply for both and pray that at least one school considers me. I hope this helps you :)
Q: How hard is the nursing program at concorde career college?
I really am torn between going to school for trucking or going to school for nursing. Has anyone went through that program or at least one like it? Thanks
A: No one answers ur questions. haha
Q: What kind of medical exam is done before entering a nursing program?
I've been looking into nursing programs in my area, and they all say something about going through a medical exam before being accepted in to the program. What kind of exam is it? It also says that they make sure you are free of any communicable diseases, which makes sense, but seems vague. What exactly do they test for?
A: The exams I did on nursing students had a check list the school wanted and all are a bit different. Basically it was a head to toe physical exam (about a 20 minute one) with emphasis on the musculo-skeletal system, vision, a TB test, measles, mumps, rubella titers, an in depth health questionnaire that we went over with a good medical history on the review of systems, and things like that.
Q: What are you usually tested for during the physical required before entering a nursing program?
What are you usually tested for during the physical required before entering a nursing program?
I have never had a physical before so I don't even know the basics.
Also, what diseases do they usually check for?
I am in North Carolina if that is beneficial to your answer.
A: I've done a few of these & it seems like everyone's form is different. You always get a TB test (in my experience); some want a UA & a color blindness test and MMR titers. Other than that, its a pretty quick head to toe physical exam (vision, ears, heart & lungs, abdominal exam etc) with an emphasis on the orthopedic portion (back exam). It's not in depth and they are only concerned about the communicable diseases such as TB, measles, mumps & rubella that you could spread around the hospital.
Q: Is this correct or did i receive false information on the nursing program?
Ok i wanted to go to a four year university to get my RN degree but the BSN program runs for 5 years! Two years of prerecs and then three years of nursing school. Also we would have to do our own clinical training in the hospital because the only experience they offer you is on dumbies! Does it really take 5 years at a 4 year college?
Thank you!
A: Well, if the school admissions reps are telling you 5 years then it will be 5 years - but most schools that offer a BSN program are designed to be completed in 4 years if you attend full time every semester.
As for clinicals, you don't have to do this on your own - your school arranges clinical experiences as part of the program. You're paying them tuition - it's their job to provide these experiences for you.
Q: Is the nursing program at National University in San Diego geared for working students?
I'm wanting to apply for a nursing program that will allow me to keep my full-time job. Well I need to keep my full-time job for financial reasons.
A: Not really,
The school actually recommends that you don't work while attending classes because the clinicals can go at anytime throughout the day. You can apply for either the day cohort or the night cohort but that only involves the classes, the clincals are a whole different thing. usually you will be notified of your schedule for clinicals 30 days in advance, but they can go either in the morning or at night.
Q: What are some schools in the south preferebly florida that have a good nursing program?
I live in florida. i have very good grades and i have a higher than average act score. i got a letter from harvard but i dont know if they have a nursing program. but my number 1 choice is university of miami.
A: Go to the National League of Nursing website AND the Florida Nursing Board websites to look for schools in Florida with accredited/licensed RN, BSN & MSN programs. Good luck.
Q: Can anyone share their experience going into the nursing program in seattle?
I am considering going to nursing school in one of the local community colleges in seattle. My weak areas happen to be in math and science. Any advice you can give on any of the programs or getting into the program. Thanks!
A: Nurses are brilliant, so many of them sacrifice so much, just so that they can look after for other peeps. In the box below is a website I found with a lot of info about nursing - and a lot of extra careers too.
Q: Taking prerequisites for Nursing Program at a community college during the summer?
I'm currently attending CSU San Bernardino. I was wondering for the summer if I could take the prerequisites for the Nursing Program at my community college during the summer?
A: Yes, 1. if they are acceptable to CSU; and 2. if they are offered. Best to check first with the CSU about acceptability before you enroll.
Q: What books are required for first year nursing program?
I`ll be starting in nursing program in Illinois and was wondering if anyone knows what books I should be looking for (Ihave found ebay to be a get place to get my school books).
A: You should check you university's website to see if they have their booklist posted online. :)
Q: would it be worth it to transfer to transfer to UCLAs nursing program rather than doing it elsewhere?
I just finished my first quarter at UCSB, and had a change of heart to become a nurse. They don't have a nursing program, sadly. Should i try and almost do the impossible to do the requirements to transfer to UCLAs nursing program, or finish up my Bachelors at UCSB and then enter a different nursing program?
A: Transfer to a nursing program--but the Cal State System (such as Long Beach) have great nursing programs as well.
Q: Is it possible to work at least 30 hours a week while your in a nursing Program?
I'm aware of how much time and effort the program requires, but as a full-time student, I can handle working 40 hrs. a week. Is nursing school really that intense? It will be impossible for myself to be unemployed while I'm in the program, because I receive no financial aid.
A: Try to find some hospitals, they have 20:20 programs for nurse in school, and they will pay for your tuition.
Though you can handle 40hrs, but they will not allow you doing that.
Q: How do you get into a nursing program if your grades aren't great?
My first few years in community college, I screwed around and got bad grades. Now, I'm more mature and working hard to earn better grades to finish my general education. But once I'm done with general ed, how could I possibly get into a nursing program if my previous grades were horrible
A: Hi! Well I applaud you for trying to do better. It's a step in the right direction. That being said, some nursing programs do have a very competitive wait list. I'm trying to enter nursing school as well. My best advice is to repeat any math or science courses in which you got less than a C. Most programs require at LEAST a C, but if you can do better than that, it'll increase your chances dramatically. You could also take a few of the classes included in the nursing program PRIOR to applying to the program. Of course you won't be able to take the clinicals or specific nursing classes, but you may be able to take a required microbiology or similar course. You may even be able to take the pre-entrance nursing exam. Many students wait until they are in the nursing program to take this, but if you study hard and get a good grade on it, that will improve your overall school records. Make sure you speak to a school advisor. They know exactly what the program is looking for and they can probably aid you in getting ahead of the curve. Best of luck to you! Just remember, if you REALLY want this, you can do it. It's just going to take some hard work. Be prepared for that!
Q: How to get grant for nursing program is I international student in USA? Thanks?
How to get grant for nursing program is I international student in USA? Thanks
Somebody told me it is not so difficult if I will sign contract with company I will work for... Is it true??
A: that is not true. In your case you will have to take out student loan or get a scholarship.

Q: Who got accepted into the Nursing Program directly from high school?
I am a junior in high school, and I would like to know what the requirements are to go directly into the Nursing program, from high school. What will happen if I don't get into the Nursing Program? I'm looking at universities like UConn and Central Connecticut. I'll be grateful if you could provide information.
Thank You
A: Actually, admittance into the Universities Nursing program is based on your Freshman and Sophomore prerequisites scores. With that in mind, it would be impossible to get admitted while still in High School unless you took those college level pre-reqs in high school to prove academic readiness for the Nursing program.
Hope that helps!
