Q: MBA online programs.........?
I will have my Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration w/ a concentration in HR Management in September from CTU Online. I want to get my MBA w/ a concentration in International Business. They don't offer this concentration at CTU. What some good Universities that offer MBA programs online?

A: There are tons of online programs. I personally attended traditional and online-only schools, and I have taught for various online schools and traditional schools over the last five years. All are accredited and solid programs. Schools tend to vary in price, so we could say online schools are more expensive, but that is relative. Of course they are more expensive than a community college, but less expensive than Harvard. The price range varies. The key is to find a program that is fully accredited. Is it worth it? YES. My career has boomed since my MBA at nearly 5 years ago. I am close to finishing my PhD through distance education, and I am at the job that I want. I know I wouldn’t be here without the education. If you are looking at work in the U.S., then you need a school that is accredited and recognized by the Dept of Ed. I can give more info on that later. You should market yourself and not the degree or university. There are many traditional universities offering degrees that can be earned through online methods. Distance Learning Alliance has a list of these traditional online schools. Look at that if you are truly concerned with the name of the school. Good luck on your search!

Q: What is your experience with online MBA programs from actual universities (not online-only "schools")?
I have a BBA in Finance and have been out of school for 5+ years now - after 2 layoffs in 2008 (commercial real estate industry) I'm considering going back to get my MBA. I'd like to hear about your experiences with online programs from actual universities (i.e. Univ. of Nebraska, Univ. of Tulsa, Florida State, etc.). I'm not considering schools like University of Phoenix or other online-only schools. I'd like to go back to school in the physical sense, but I have a family and the time constraints make it impossible. Can I expect to gain as much from an online program as I would on campus? I know a large part of the experience is the contacts you gain from your study groups, etc. - any input? Thanks

A: Most in person part-time MBA programs are created so that, while you do take two classes each term, you can take them both on the same night. When I did my MBA part-time, I scheduled my classes so I was only on campus one night per week. Would something like that work for you? If not, then an online program is probably best, but do stick with schools that have a good rep offline, are "real" universities, and ideally, where the MBA program is AACSB accredited. A lot of employers won't hire MBAs if your program wasn't AACSB accredited, so keep that at the back of your mind. I think all the programs you listed are AACSB: http://www.aacsb.edu/accreditation/accreditedmembers.asp You probably would gain more from an on-campus MBA, but that's not to say that an online program would be worthless for the things you mentioned. If your only choice is do it online or don't do it at all, then do it online. Other schools that I believe I remember have online MBA programs include UMass Amherst, Northeastern, Thunderbird, Babson, and Duke used to, but I'm not sure if it still does. Thunderbird is a top ranked program in international business. Babson has a very good rep.

Q: Are their any decent Online MBA programs from real Universities?
I am looking to get my MBA however I would like to do it Online. I would like to find a school that offers a 100% online MBA. Also, I would like it to be AACSB accredited and not Kaplan or Phoenix or any of those type of online schools. I mean schools like Florida State or UCLA or Nebraska for example. I don't think I can get into the top b-schools because my GMAT score is in the middle 500s and my undergrad gpa was 3.2. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

A: I want to applaud your choice to look for quality within the online format. Until students learn to ask these questions, it will continue to be too easy for poorly-developed programs to thrive, blocking out many of the others. Fortunately, there is an very specific way for you to find exactly what you need. AACSB has recently developed a website specifically for students, so that they can promote AACSB-accredited programs and make it easier for students to find such a program, at any level of business education. The site is BestBizSchools.com. There is a brief survey on there which asks you whether you are looking for an undergraduate or graduate program, and then which area of specialization you are interested in. Then the third question asks you about your preferred format, and there is an option for online programs. It will tell you which schools offer exactly what you are looking for.

Q: Online/Distance MBA Programs specializing in IT Strategy, Innovation, & Competitive Advantage?
I'm interested in transitioning my career into IT Strategy, Innovation and Competitive Advantage. I have an undergrad degree in computer information systems and 11+ years in IT in multiple Fortune 500 companies. I'm a certified Project Manager. Do you know of any schools offering MBAs that have a focus on Strategy, Innovation and Competitive Advantage in IT?

A: If you are looking to change careers, an online degree isn't the way to do it. My personal opinion is that an MBA is not going to help you much unless you either plan on staying in the same company or go to a top 20 school. Look at the web sites for various schools to see the salaries of people going in and people coming out. You will find that online schools and third tier schools have very little improvement. Second tier schools have a marginal bump in salary. First tier schools see their students doubling their income. Any of the top schools would be good for what you want -- because they are good in everything. Many second tier schools have one area where they are they excel -- but lag behind in other areas.

Q: Can anyone tell me of online MBA programs that are AACSB accredited ...thanks?

A: Online MBA Degree http://www.edqna.com/q/2192-online+mba+degree+program.aspx

Q: Any schools that offer online study programs (MBA) accredited by known Business schools around the world?

A: Colorado Technical Institution ITT technical institution.. national american university

Q: Does anyone know the easiest online MBA program or programs? Thank you.?

A: This is precisely why no one has any respect for online programs. Who goes into graduate school looking for the easiest way out? The idea is supposed to be to learn as much as possible. If that doesn't happen, don't waste your money.

Q: I am thinking of getting an mba. what do you think of online mba programs?
Which schools offer online mbas?

A: it depends on your area, but a lot of smaller schools offer online MBAs. if you are in the nyc area, then try pace or drew in NJ. i think depaul has some online programs in chicago and devry too. florida atlantic if you are in the south, also james madison, tulsa, portland state, etc. personally, i dont like doing any program entirely online, no matter how much time is saved with work, etc. it is a lot easier, yes, but you will not get the same high quality education as you do when you actually have to show up. also, i wouldnt even try some of those schools like univ of phoenix. those degrees are more valuable as toilet paper. just my opinon though.

Q: I would apprecriate it if anyone could give me the details of online MBA programs within india and its scope?

A: What is the scope of an MBA program? The scope for a MBA graduate is unparalleled. Apart from attractive pay packets and placements being offered at college-level itself, it opens doors to various sectoral opportunities. The Indian Corporate world has seen many MBA professionals occupying top slots in the corporate ladder. Apart from Corporate careers, one can opt for entrepreneurship, work in co-operatives, NGO's as the opportunities are literally unlimited. Even when the industry goes through trends/fads, like the recent dot com fad, MBAs are the first in and among the first out, thereby reaping the benefits of a rising industry and the smartness of exiting to a different industry when the fall happened. This is due to the multi-dimensional, multi-tasking quality an MBA possesses. For example: A MBA with Finance specialization does not necessarily fare poorly when the industry hits the doldrums. He gets onto marketing of financial services (say, marketing of mutual funds or insurance products), thereby reducing career risk. contact the following to know more about online MBA programmes: The Managed Learning Zone (MLZ) British Council British High Commission 17 Kasturba Gandhi Marg New Delhi 110 001 Tel: 91 11 41497441 Fax: 91 11 2371 0717 Email: delhi.onlinelearning@in.britishcouncil.org

Q: Online MPA/MBA programs?
I just graduated from GSU and have my first Job.... I want to get a MPA, How do online Masters measure up to tradional classes...Do they carry the same weight? What are some good and afordable ones?

A: Many employers and universities are now preferring grad students to get some work experience under their belts prior to going for advanced management degrees. It really helps you better understand what they are trying to teach. You might want to consider putting 3-5 years in at your job prior to going for the next degree.

Q: Is there an online MBA that doesn't require the GMAT and which is accredited by the AACSB?
I'm looking for an online MBA program that doesn't require the GMAT (or at least doesn't require any specific score on the GMAT) for acceptance into it, and is at the same time accredited by the AACSB?

A: I know of four AACSB accredited distance MBA programs from recognized institutions: Penn State University of Florida Drexel University (PA) Auburn Unfortunately all require the GMAT, although some don't state a minimum score (check the included program links). Even if you don't meet the minimum GMAT score you may be accepted based on your GPA, admission essay, and/or recommendations. There is always room to negotiate and schools are continuously looking for motivated students. Good luck
