Q: How important is work experience when applying for Master's programs in business?
I graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting this December, and I want to go straight for my Master's in Accounting immediately thereafter.
How much of a requirement in Master's programs admissions is work experience? Do most programs require at least some, or do some require none at all?
A: I do not believe that any *traditional* master's program requires work experience, but it is certainly recommend and preferred by all.
Q: What type of Master's programs are ideal for those who want to trade commodities or resources?
What type of Master's program (hopefully 1 year or 2 if necessary) if I want to get involved with the trading of commodities and or resources? Schools that offer the program are appreciated.
A: You should get an MBA in Finance.
Q: Which universities have business master programs without GMAT/GRE?
I am looking for a good university that offers Master programs without GMAT/GRE... Not ONLINE ones.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
A: You are most likely looking at a State School. That said, the GRE will depend on your undergraduate GPA. If you have a 3.0 or higher, then you have better chances of not needing it.
Q: Five year architecture programs or master's of architecture programs?
Which would you recommend: taking architecture as an undergraduate student or taking a bachelor of science and applying to grad school for a master's in architecture afterwards? What are the advantages/ disadvantages for each (in your opinion)? Do most schools accept students without backgrounds in architecture into their graduate programs?
A: The best advantage of a BArch (5 yr.) is a professional degree. Some States will only allow candidates with a professional degree to practice architecture. 4+2 programs offer you more flexibility. Most programs in a 4+2 offer more electives for the student. Going to the same college for the Masters never made any sense to me, so getting the Masters in another University offer the student a broader experience in terms of environment and faculty members. If you're planning on getting a MArch with a undergraduate outside of architecture, it will take 3.5 years. Many schools will readily accept students with non-architectural studies background provided they have a good GPA, GRE score and portfolio.
Q: Is it hard to get into a school counseling master's programs? What is considered?
Anyone who has completed a program or applied
A: Not too difficult.
Q: What are the best human rights master programs in Europe?
A: H Ella;
I think the european master in Human Rights in the University of Deusto in Spain.
Q: Which universities offer ESL master programs in Pennsylvania or near; affordable for an international student?
A: juba, The easiest method to find out info is to contact a student. You can locate some contact information for Pennsylvania universities here. http://www.collegereviewed.com/Pennsylvania-Colleges-Universities.html The students always seem to know what's up since they get to experience the classes and the lifestyle.
Q: Two master programs in Sweden?
Has anyone of you done two master programs at the same time at any Swedish university? Next year I would like to study at Skovde university Molecular biology as one major and at the same time also Bioinformatics. I already have good background to study both, but I was just wondering if the structure of the lectures will allow me to do it. Maybe all the lectures will be at the same time or simply the university will not allow me to do it. Do you have any idea if I can do it?
A: I would ask the relevant course advisors at Skovde university about this. They are the only ones who will know exactly whether you will be able to take these two masters concurrently. That way you will be sure, rather than relying on second-hand information.
I suspect that there are likely to be time table clashes and it therefore it will take you longer to complete both master programs.
Q: When applying to Master's programs, is there a limit on years since courses were taken?
I want to get a Master's degree in two differents areas. So one program will have to be started around 5 years after I get my BA in Psych.
Will I most likely have to retake a bunch of courses before applying to a second Master's program (which will be in Psych or Mental Health)?
I know I'd have to check with the college, but just trying to get a general idea right now..... thanks!
A: in general, there is not a limit on the number of years - and even if there was, 5 years would normally not be considered too long.
carefully consider your options and goals in pursuing a masters degree in psychology. unless you have a masters in clinical or counseling psychology AND have the appropriate number of supervised hours doing actual clinical work it is typically not possible to work as a therapist. if your masters is in general psychology you may not be able to work as a therapist unless or until completing a doctoral program in clinical or counseling psychology. of course, if you have no interest in being a therapist a masters program in general psychology will prepare you to do research in a university or hospital setting and can set you up for a good career or can prepare you for admission to graduate school
Q: What is the acceptance rate for master's programs in social work?
A: It really depends on the school you are applying to and many other factors like tests scores,GPA,etc. Tell me the school you want to apply to and maybe I can help you.
Q: How long does it take to master Java to write computer programs.?
Which language is fastest to learn to write programs for windows ?
A: Hm, define "master." If you mean do some basic things in Java then I'd say a month to get the syntax and core concepts and then another month for GUI (Swing) use. Java is supported on every major platform, no need to change your source code (usually). As far as "installing Java", most people have a Java Runtime Environment installed and if a new version is needed, then it needs to be downloaded. But if you are programming in .NET the same issue applies and the .NET runtime needs to be downloaded and installed.
For Rapid Application Development go with VB.NET 2005. Of course, Java is free, and a Java IDE like Eclipse or NetBeans is free. Visual Studio will run a few hundred dollars depending on the version (being a student helps).
PHP, ASP, and JSP are server scripting languages and are not generally used to write desktop code. The syntax of Java is also used in languages like C#, and in PHP, JavaScript, etc., learning the style is a good thing.
Good luck, and have fun with it!

Q: Do any of the Ivy League universities have Master's Degree programs?
I'm interested in either a Master's in Accounting or Computer Information Systems, but looking at their websites, I could only find information on the MBA and PhD programs...
A: A lot of top private universities choose not to offer terminal master's degree programs other than MBAs, although they do give master's degrees en route to the PhD to their PhD students (usually after one or two years). I doubt any of the Ivy League schools offer any programs in accounting - they tend to focus on more "academic" type subjects.
