Q: What master's program should I go back to school for in education?
I currently have a bachelor's degree in middle childhood education. I am looking at taking a class or two to begin my master's program. Any advice as to what degree I should aim for? What master's degrees can help me move up? Increase my pay?
A: Anything with math. Guaranteed employment.
Q: Would like to apply for Speech Pathology master's program but have different degree.?
I have a bachelor's degree in English but would like to enter a Speech Pathology master's program. What do I need to do to be accepted into such a program? Any specific classes or is this a long shot because I didn't receive my bachelor's in Speech Pathology? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
A: If you contact the department, they will be able to set you up with all of the requirements. Basically, you will be enrolled as a Masters student, but there are several undergrad classes that you will have to take (ie: articulation, stuttering, etc). So instead of the Master's program taking you two years, it will likely take at least 3. Contact your specific university for their requirements.
As far as being accepted into the program, anything you can do to be around people with speech or language impairments would be desirable. If you are interested in working in the speech field while you obtain your grad degree, I recommend looking for a traumatic brain injury facility in your area. I worked for one for 3 years while I obtained my degree, and I gained a ton of real-life experience with one population that is serviced by SLP's. My facility trained staff to work as direct caregivers for the clients in the facility. It was a great experience!
Q: What is a good Bachelor's degree to earn before applying for a Master's Program to become a PA?
I am wanting to become a PA, however, I have not been able to find much information on what kind of Bachelor's degree would give me a head start going into a MPA program. I was looking at several Bachelor of Science in Nursing, being a RN for a couple of years for experience, then going back to school for my Master's, ultimately becoming a PA.
Any suggestions??
Thanks
A: A Physician Assistant program is a type of medical degree, so anything that would prepare you to attend medical school would be helpful. The BS in Nursing would certainly qualify.
The most important thing is to pick a degree that has the classes that qualify as prerequisites for the PA program. You could look at the pre-req's list on the PA program first and work backwards. Honestly, you could major in Art as long as you take the pre-req's for the PA program!
(You might also want to check out the Nurse Practitioner degree; it's the PA of Nursing...)
Q: Working graduate students: How do you manage to juggle between your Master program and your work? Any tips?
I just got a great job offer with a handsome salary now. But it means that i have to work 5 full days and study, go to lectures/ library and do my assignments in another 2 full days. Any tips, advice or words of wisdom?
Not simply do it...i mean to be able to do it very well...
A: It was difficult. While in grad school I would always, always, write down on paper prioritizing things that had to be done. If I missed completing a few of these tasks I learned "not" to get upset. Completing most of that list proved to be sufficient.
I usually tried to find jobs in which I could manage to do some of the studying whilst at work. [Finding those jobs is difficult but they are there]
I was working for the Social Security Administration 40 hours per week 5 days per week. I'd study while driving [I'm well aware this is dangerous and I DONOT advise doing it] to my job which was 45 miles away.
I'd implement my own little study technique if my employer did not allow studying on the job. There'd be certain courses I'd take in which I had a list of topics that were written down. While at work I'd hide this sheet of paper under the other work and glance at it occassionally to ponder the subject all the while learning it.
I rc'd an award for performance on this particular job therefore my studying while at work did not interfere with my job.
I really and truly believe it comes down to training and sort of experimenting with something that works for you on the job. There are so many things. Let you mind explode in creativity and find a working solution. There's one available=I promise.
Study on breaks. Hide that "list of points" sheet under something on your desk and review periodically while working. Put some notes in your pocket and glance at them on occassion. If you can record your class session and it's okay on the job put an ear piece from your recording device and listen.
My feelings are that this is not cheating either. I've worked so many times past 8 hours and not gotten paid. There have been times when I donot even get either of my two breaks and have had to cut lunch short.
Q: How should I say about my education background in my resume if I am still in a master program?
I saw other's resumes all say like this, from when to when, MA in xxxx, xxxUniversity. If I haven't finished my MA yet, What shall I say?
A: Masters Degree etc.,
Expected date of completion: 200X
Q: How can I raise my GPA to get into a Master's program?
My transcripts were sealed after I graduated, which means (as I understand it) I can not raise the GPA listed with my degree... so what can I do to raise my GPA to get into a Master's program?
My last three semesters in school I did great, but I was a bonehead when I started school and it has become apparent that I need to study a master's to advance in my career of choice.
Ideas?
A: If you have a gpa of at least a 3.0, you haven't done that poorly. Yes, ideally you would have made a 3.5 or higher, but that is not always the case. Graduate admissions look at your overall gpa, but focus the most attention on the last two years of your bachelor's degree- if you did an outstanding job in your junior and senior year and have at least a 3.0 cumulative gpa, there is a good chance that you will be accepted into a master's program.
Q: Where is it cheaper to do a master program Canada or USA?
I would like to do my masters but i cant decide where to go USA or Canada, also Im quiet limited on money. So, in which country would it be cheaper to do my masters?
IN GENERAL?
A: i can top that. my spam convince me i can get my MBA in 7 days.
on a serious note, i think it depends on which uni you gonna attend. my first instinct was to say of course canada but i think you can get a cheaper master at some uni in usa.
i suggest that you compile a list of uni that you would like to attend and check out their website for the exact financially details.
good luck.
Q: I want to apply to a master's program for Spring 2010, do you think I would have a better chance in the Fall?
Hi, so there's this master's program that I want to apply for. I am traveling immediately after graduating with my B.A. this May, so I want to apply in the Spring semester of 2010 (instead of Fall 2009).
Applications may be submitted for Fall and Spring terms. Is it harder to get in for a Spring term, or is it about equal?
A: If the program takes in students during spring then it wouldn't matter. Schools with too limited enrollment typically lock out spring admissions to begin with.
Q: How would I go about getting into this master's program?
There is a master's program that has a distance learning program (San Jose State's library science program) that's popular among some of my co-workers who work at a law library.
My undergraduate degree is a 2.81 GPA; the program requires a 3.0 GPA and they are sticking to it....no GRE scores accepted.
How do I get accepted into this program? There are other distance learning programs like this but this is incredibly cheaper (I live in CA) and my co-workers who are in the program know the professors and the work involved.
Would I have to re-enroll in some open university program with my alma mater to re-take one of my screwed-up coursework? Should I just give up and take a more expensive program? Or should I just give it up all together (something I DO NOT WANT TO DO)?
All suggestions are welcome; no smart alecky stuff please.
A: Never give up the quest for education!!! You should contact them and see if enrolling in another university program to prove you are capable of the required GPA would make a difference. Otherwise, find a new program and pay the price of not being as diligent in your studies previously.
Q: Which is better in Master program, thesis or course route?
I want to register in one university to study computer science for my Master Degree in Canada, but they're asking me to choose between thesis route or course route? which is better and easier to take?
A: Which is better depends on whether you will want to follow with a PhD. If so, then the thesis option would help prepare you for the dissertation.
Which is easier depends on how much you like research and writing. I like the thesis option and would rather research and write for 6 hours credit than take two courses instead. I have friends that hate writing a thesis and would pick the two classes every day. It depends on your own style.
Q: Do you think all these questions and answers are being filtered for use in a master program?
So many questions and info here and on the net, almost anything possible from the insane to the logical. Do you think this information is going to be flushed away or is it being collected into a mastermind program such as the program in Steven Speilberg's AI. If Aliens are listening they surely can learn something about our world from the Net alone. In fact they may just analyse us through the info available through cyberspace and decide we are not worth a physical visit.
A: Tee hee
Well anything's possible! Especially if you're a conspiracy theorist. I don't know if this collection of opinions has any value, I suppose it would from a research standpoint. Personally I'd like to publish a book of my best yahoo answers ha ha!
Any time you put anything on the internet you run the risk of someone using it for some sinister purpose & finding out information about you. Trust no one.
Oh well. I live on the edge.
Peace out.
:)
Q: Do you know where can I find syllabus for graduate courses (master program) for CSU Fullerton?
I'm an international student. I need to find out their syllabus so I will know which classes I can transfer from my community college now. Thanks a lot for your help. I really appreciate it.
A: A syllabus does not give you the information you seek. A syllabus is to inform the student what the class will be about and what course material is required for that class.
You need to talk to your community college counselor to find out what courses will transfer over to CSU Fullerton. I don't know which CC you are at, so I can't really help you with that information. You need to find out from your college which classes will transfer over.
Q: If I come to Belgium to study a Master program, can I find a job and settle there?
I am from a developing country. I really want to study, work and settle down in an advanced country. Is that right? and can i make it come true?
A: Especially if you are trying to avoid international student costs, I believe it takes 3 years to become a Belgian citizen. You should probably know / learn French or German or Dutch. Yes, you can do it!!
Q: How difficult is it to get into a doctoral program without a Master's degree?
I have a bachelor's degree in accounting and am a licensed CPA with a few years of experience in the field. I'd like to pursue a PhD in business (at a top school) and don't want to get a Master's if it's not really necessary. If an admissions officer came across my application and everything was strong, but I had no Master's, what would be my chances of getting into the program?
If you work for a university please include the name, thanks!
A: You can get your Phd with out the masters in most subjects, all you would need is your undergraduate transcript and GRE scores. The issue here is that you want a Phd in business. Getting the MBA is the norm as opposed to other fields of study.
I work at Rutgers and there is a Phd business program here. You do NOT need to have a masters. The average Phd student here for business has a GMAT (not GRE) score of 675 and graduate in the top 5% of their undergraduate class. Rutgers also emphasizes mathamatical ability, so advanced math courses would help.
Bottom line, if your test scores and grades are good enough, you can find a good program to do your Phd, witout getting a masters first. Hope this helped.
Q: I will be receiving my BA in computer information technology this year.what master program should i enroll in?
I will be receiving my BA in computer information technology in a year. I am very interested in computer networking and security. What master program in the field of computers do you recommend.....?? Judging that I am interested networking and security..what master program do you recommend??? thanks...
A: Why go for your masters when you have a great bachelors degree?? IT is in demand now, don't wait two-three years and when maybe IT grads wont be in so much demand or it might be more competitive.
Plus you get a job after you receive your bachelors, and the company you work for might pay for you to go back to school(for your masters). This might not matter if you have scholarships, but if you don't this is a big deal.
I hear more and more of people going straight to get their masters after just receiving your bachelors. Which, IMO, is really unnecessary unless your going to be a doctor/architect or in some field that requires a masters degree.
Also, real world experience will help you in grad school. If you go straight into grad school what experience do you have outside of books and lectures?
