Q: Clinical or Counseling Psych Grad programs?
What are really good schools for clinical or counseling psych, especially one's that are in cities or new england? Are there any liberal arts colleges that offer it? Thanks!

A: University of Pennsylvania has a super program. So does Temple University. At U of P you may have the option of working at the Philadelphia Child Guidance Clinic which was a premiere agency in the field of family and child therapy. The guys who wrote my text books worked there in the 60s and 70s. I did a little time, there, and it was incredible. Good luck.

Q: Where can I find elementary school counseling lesson plans and and guidance units?
I'm working on a masters in school counseling (I'd like to focus on the elementary level). I can easily find resources for lesson plans and units for teachers, but I am having greater difficulty finding the same for school counselors ie. lessons/units on character education, bullying, problem solving, social skills ,etc. Are there such lessons specifcally designed for school counseling and the school counseling program? Thanks in advance for your help.

A: My ex-wife did the same thing as you are career-wise. I know for a fact that she got her hands on a 3 ring binder (that must have been 6 inches thick) that was full of objectives & activities for everything you listed, plus alot more. Every other counselor who ever saw it, wanted it. I don't know where she got it, but if you'll email me with your contact info. I'll find out for you and let you know the details

Q: Why won't they offer counseling psychology graduate programs??!?
Okay well I want to be a counseling psychologist, and I was interested in going to either UT at A, or UH, but whenever I find their dpt. of psychology grad programs, I never see counseling psychology, only things like Behavioral Neuroscience, Clinical Psychology, Cognition & Perception, Developmental Psychology, Individual Differences & Evolutionary Psychology, Social & Personality, Sensory Neuroscience, and Industrial Organizational. It would be super hard to believe that 2 of the best and most accredited psychology colleges in Texas don't offer any grad/doctoral programs on Counseling Psychology, so what gives? Am I just not looking in the right place??

A: Clinical Psych is often called 'Clinical and Counseling Psych', most are calling it 'clinical' to separate it from programs in counseling as the field of study. 'Counseling' as the major field is different than a psych specialty - if that's what you're looking for then you're as likely to not find it in the Psych department but over in Ed or by itself in a program such as MFT.

What ways can I get a child to voluntarily participate in a counseling group program. The program is about boosting self esteem, talking about anger issues, peer pressure and body image. Could you give ideas on how to attract students to the program? thanks

A: Hi Shay! One way to attract other students is by getting a peer who is really involved and interested in the program to help promote the benefits of the program from their perspective. That has worked for us and they are really attracted to the activities and benefits that really apply to where they are in life. Also, I use pictures and slogans of fliers that they can identify with, but that are relevant and attractive. I hope this helps! Nayshon

A: yes you can quit you never signed a contract with them and i would call a good bankruptcy lawyer and file for it if you need to but they call take all they want because they want that money because they work out something with that debt is do and get good money for their services that is why they don't want you to quit hope this helps
