Q: which undergraduate universities have good international business programs?
i am a undergraduate freshman and i am planning to transfer to another college. and i am planning to do international business. does anyone know which colleges have a good business program?

A: UPenn, Wharton School is THE best in the country. NYU Steinhart also has a very very good business school.

Q: What's the help of government assistance programs to business?
What's the help of government assistance programs to business?. What does it contribute? Is it important?? why is it important?? why does the government do assistance programs to business??

A: That's like asking how important is it, what's the benefit of a parent helping a child do better in sports, after the parent has shattered the kids kneecaps. Government creates problems, so as to make it appear to gullible people they need them to solve those problems. Lusitania survivor "I soon came to understand a governments main role is to protect itself"

Q: Does anyone have the 2007 or 2008 list of the top undergraduate business programs IN CANADA?
TK, may I ask why McGill was not present on your list?

A: There is no official ranking of canadian universities but following sites and figures might help you in your decission: (please remember you just search the ranking and you will get the ranking of canadian business graduate & under graduate programs) 1. www.mclean.ca 2. www.canadabusiness.com 3. http://www.researchinfosource.com/ 4. My own recommendation: 1. York university 2. univ of toronoto 3. ubc 4. univ of westren ontario 5. queens university 6. univ of calgary 7. univ of alberta Best of luck Yes i didn't include McGill. Its bcuz of the sole reason that McGill has excellent medicine, engineering & science departments but its not very great in arts, business & social sciences. McGill has an MBA program but it has less value as compare to other available programs in Canada. You check on any site or ask question about Business in McGill & every1 will recommend you its better to do it from above mentioned univ other than McGill. Also, I am considering value for money with quality of business education and its world recognition and ranking. best of luck

Q: Which colleges offer the best undergraduate business programs?
I am currently a sophomore at Binghamton University with a 3.39 GPA standing. I was looking into Cornell and NYU, but I am not sure if they're within my reach and is open to other suggestions.

A: The only way you will know if Cornell or NYU will accept you is by trying. If you mean you can't afford them, there are plenty of governments out there to help you along, you just have to do some research.

Q: What colleges in california have good business programs?
(preferably southern california)

A: Any program at qny UC campus is likely to be good, the best ones though are UC Berekely and Stanford. An MBA from either (and by association a BS) is going to get you noticed. USC is probably good, I haven't any particular insight there, and I am sure UCLA has a highly respected program. That said, I would bet that just about every CSU campus with a business program will do a good job of preparing you for the world of business. I've been a senior manager for over 25 years, and I don't have a "name" degree. That may close a few doors but in the business world it's what you can show you can do, and getting a first job and some experience after the degree will determine how well you do ultimately.

Q: What are some grant programs for first time business owners?
I am interested in starting my own business. Are there any grant programs and what are they? And for minority business owners? Thanks.

A: You stand a greater chance of getting a government-guaranteed loan through the Small Business Administration http://www.sba.gov/financing than a government grant. Read the SBA Financing page to learn about criteria needed for borrowing. SBA has different loan programs for minority business owners, as well as certification programs such as 8A that will allow you to compete better in the government contracting process. It is hard to find grants to start a business -- whether you are a minority or not, or whether you are a first time business owner or not. Unlike the myths that some perpetuate, federal government and even private foundations hardly give grant money for a for-profit business. Nonetheless, you can go to the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) http://www.cfda.gov and Grants.gov http://www.grants.gov - these are two sites created by the federal government to provide transparency and information on grants. Browse through the listings and see if you can find any grant that would support a for-profit venture. Even SBA does NOT give out grants. From the SBA website http://www.sba.gov/mostrequesteditems/CON_FAQ2.html "The U.S. Small Business Administration does not offer grants to start or expand small businesses, although it does offer a wide variety of loan programs. (See http://www.sba.gov/financing for more information) While SBA does offer some grant programs, these are generally designed to expand and enhance organizations that provide small business management, technical, or financial assistance. These grants generally support non-profit organizations, intermediary lending institutions, and state and local governments." Here is a listing of federal grants for small businesses. See if there is any available for individuals for starting a business -- THERE'S NONE. http://12.46.245.173/pls/portal30/CATALOG.BROWSE_BENEF_RPT.show Most of the federal grants are given to specific target groups with specific requirements (e.g. minority business owners involved in transportation related contracts emanating from DOT - Grant#20.905 Disadvantaged Business Enterprises Short Term Lending Program Grants are also often given to non profit groups or organizations involved in training or other similar activities (grant 59.043 Women's Business Ownership Assistance that are given to those who will create women's business center that will train women entrepreneurs I suggest you read the following books to get ideas of how to finance your business: Financing Your Small Business http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1572484500/powerhomebizguid Small Business Financing: How and Where To Get It http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0808007386/powerhomebizguid Financing the Small Business: A Complete Guide to Obtaining Bank Loans and All Other Types of Financing http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1580626815/powerhomebizguid The SBA Loan Book http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/158062202X/powerhomebizguid Angel Capital : How to Raise Early-Stage Private Equity Financing http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0471690635/powerhomebizguid Financing Your Small Business (Barron's Business Library Series) http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0764124897/powerhomebizguid For private grants, you may want to check the Foundation Center's Foundation Grants for Individuals Online http://gtionline.fdncenter.org . It's a subscription based website ($9.95 per month) but their opening blurb only says that the database is ideal for "students, artists, academic researchers, libraries and financial aid offices." Entrepreneurs are apparently not one of them, so I take it they also don't have listings of private foundations who give grants to would-be entrepreneurs.

Q: Ayone know of a site that does University reviews and ratings especially graduate programs? Business or Film?
After I graduate I will probably go straight to graduate school. I hear Emory is good. They have a graduate Film program. If you have a B.A. in Film you can get a Masters in Business right? Anyways any good graduate programs you recommend? I plan on studying Film theory not Film Production. And with Business as a Masters maybe a basic Business Administration or Management.

Q: What type of start up programs are available for opening a small business?
I am interested in starting a small business, but do not have the initial funding to do so. What type of programs are available, and where can find access to such programs?

A: Are you looking to start an on-line business or something else? If you're looking to start an on line business there are lots of really good ones that can be started up for minimal cost. Other advantages to starting a business that's on line is that the risk is minimal, especially if you find one that doesn't involve purchasing inventory or have teaching and training expenses. I also personally enjoy the fact that I don't have to drive to and from a "job", especially with gas prices being what they are, being able to work the hours that I chose to, as well as the fact that I have a great residual income (all in my profile if you'd like to know more). Opening most other types of business have huge start up costs, high risks and demand brutal hours to get it up and running but if you have a sure bet, deep pockets and time to do it, then it would be worth it providing your research has shown that it will have a high rate of success.

Q: How would you rate the University of Phoenix Business Intern programs?

A: good

Q: Does anyone have any experience with business plan writing programs?? Not quite sure which one to try?
I have seen many different programs and lots of software, none really give much detail. Thanks for any input. If anyone can tell me a better way to write a business plan, I'm open to ideas, thanks.

A: Go to http://www.sba.gov , http://www.score.org or http://www.bplan.com for sample business plans and instructions on how to write a business plan. Then, go to http://www.score.org/ and in the upper left hand corner, enter your zip code. On the next screen, you will get information on the nearest SCORE chapter. Call them and arrange for a free meeting with a SCORE counselor to review your business plan and discuss various loan options available to you. SCORE is a nonprofit association dedicated to entrepreneur education and the formation, growth and success of small business nationwide. SCORE is a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). SCORE has 389 chapters in locations throughout the United States and its territories, with 10,500 volunteers nationwide. Both working and retired executives and business owners donate time and expertise as business counselors.

Q: Does the Government have any programs or grants which help (Financially) with starting a small business?
I am wanting to start a small $0.25 candy vending business. Does the Government have any programs or grants which can help fund first time small business owners?

A: It is hard to find grants to start a business. Unlike the myths that some perpetuate, federal government and even private foundations hardly give grant money for starting a for-profit business. One possible exception is for companies developing or exporting agricultural goods, including food and forest product. Another exception could be the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) or Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs http://www.sba.gov/aboutsba/sbaprograms/sbir/index.html , which fund the research and development of technological innovation that meets specific government needs. Your best bet actually will be from the states if they offer grant programs for women (or any other special interest groups -- minorities, women, disabled, veterans, etc). Or check with non profit organizations, particularly women organizations if they offer grants. Examples include Iowa Women's Foundation http://www.iawf.org/ New Mexico Women's Foundation http://www.nmwf.org/guidelines.html Even SBA does NOT give out grants. From the SBA website http://www.sba.gov/mostrequesteditems/CON_FAQ2.html "The U.S. Small Business Administration does not offer grants to start or expand small businesses, although it does offer a wide variety of loan programs.
