Q: What colleges have good accounting programs?
For now I'm just looking for general idea, then I'll specifically search colleges.
A: Well, as Accounting is a Business degree, any school known for it's Business program (Harvard, Penn, etc) will have the 'best' accounting programs. However, many smaller state universities have excellent programs, and are much more affordable.
Q: Is their any good Free Accounting Software programs?
I am looking for a good program that can help me keep track of expenses for a small business I am starting up. Quickbooks sounds like a good program, but I was looking to see if there were any good Free alternatives that were worthwhile. Any help would be greatly appriciated!
A: Quickbooks is overkill for most small businesses. Do an internet search on free bookkeeping software. I recall finding something a few months ago that would work well for simple businesses.
Q: What schools offer a Master's of Accounting Program for non-accounting undergraduate majors?
I am looking for Master's of Accountancy programs that are designed for those who have an undergraduate degree in something other than accounting. What schools offer such a program? For your info, I majored in finance. I am looking for something similar to the program at UNC.
A: University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign has a MSA program that is for students that have a business background other than Accounting. In addition, U of I is known as one of the premier accounting programs for both undergrad and graduate studies.
Q: Best Accounting Programs?
What are some good accounting programs for business owners? Any good tax programs?
A: QuickBooks is excellent. I have used it and Peachtree. I prefer QB.
TurboTax is the best tax software on the market
Q: Which schools have the best Graduate Accounting programs?
A: UCI in Irvine, CA is good.
Q: Online Ph.D. Accounting Programs?
Can anyone tell me where to find a college that offers Online Ph.D. Accounting Programs?
A: try Univ of Phoenix
Q: Which 4-year university in Chicago area has the CHEAPEST programs in order to get a Bachelor in Accounting?
In my case, I already have like 90 credits obtained in Europe, hopefully most of them will be transferred, but I can`t go to Oakton or Wright because they only have Associate programs.
I am considering online courses well. Once again, the keyword is CHEAPEST programs. Thanks!
A: Are you an international student or paying out-of-state tuition? If so then all of the universities are going to be expensive.
If so then UIC will probably be the cheapest in the Chicago, if you are willing to look outside then I would imagine that Trinity and Northern Illinois may be even cheaper.
Q: 1 of my choices is 2 take an accounting program at Brock Univ. does brock have a good accounting program?
I am a low 80's student, so i don't know if I could make it to u of t, I have already considered waterloo university, york, well i dont see any specific accounting programs, mayb there is in schulich, but the average is certainly too high there
A: If you can walk
You can go to Brock.
If you want to make it in accounting, you will have to improve your grammar and punctuation. Don't use "2" to replace "to". How did you get marks in the low 80s. That's very high for someone who can't write.
UW has an accounting program. It used to be part of the Math faculty but I think they have their own faculty now. Also, I think there is some sort of connection with the business school at WLU.
Q: Undergrad accounting programs?
Is Haas (UC Berkeley) a good place to take undergrad accounting? If not, what are the best schools in California to take undergrad accounting?
A: I think that UCLA has a great business school or even pepperdine.
Q: Can I get accepted to a masters in accounting program?
I'm interested in getting a masters degree in accounting. I have a very low undergrad GPA of a 2.3. If I get a really high GMAT score, take one or two accounting courses at a community college, and get good recommendations do you think that there is a chance for me to get accepted? I want to go to Pace University in NYC.
A: You didn't mention if you had any work experience. Generally, work experience would definitely improve your chances, beyond that. I would skip taking the Community College classes and take classes as an undeclared major at PACE. Make sure that they are graduate Accounting classes. Perhaps you could take classes for a Professional Certificate that would allow the classes to be applied to a graduate degree. This would do two things for you. It would be concrete proof that you are ready for graduate schools and give you a PACE transcript with awesome grades(because you will make awesome grades) and it will give you the inside track on professors and admissions. You will have a MUCH better chance of gaining entrance to the University this way since your GPA is a considerably low. Also, study like no tomorrow to get an awesome GMAT score and you could be as good as admitted!
HTH and blessings on your journey!
Q: What FREE small business accounting program would be best, untill I can afford Quickbooks?
My husband formed a partnership. A subcontracting timber falling business. Until I can afford QuickBooks in a few weeks, what would be the best accounting software that I could download off the net for FREE?? Thanks So much!
A: Why don't you just wait until you can get QuickBooks? Why do you need one right now?
Have you looked into the QuickBooks Simple Start program? If you don't have inventory or payroll this is the cheaper way to go.
You can download a trial version here http://quickbooks.intuit.com/product/about_quickbooks/trials.jhtml
Or you might consider the online version. You will see it available at the above link also.
If you decide to get QuickBooks in a few weeks you can just wait and enter all the info then.
Good luck!
Q: Which online college offers a good accounting program?
I am looking for distance/online learning curriculum that offers a degree in accounting. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
A: I believe that Bentley College and Northeastern University both specifically offer accounting as one of their online majors. Check them first, because those are considered very strong accounting schools. Bentley especially. If they don't have it, then try U Maryland, Penn State, UMass Amherst, and Southern New Hampshire University. All offer significant numbers of business degrees online, but I simply don't remember if accounting is one of them.
Q: How much does it matter where one gets a masters in accounting?
I would like to know just how important it is to get a degree from a top accounting program. I am looking at two options: one would involve attending a top program and the other would involve attending an average program. However, the debt for the better program would be around 70k (out of state tuition + personal loans), while the other program would cost more like 12k. In the end, if a person has his CPA license do employers care that much where he got his degree? Is it likely that the extra debt will end up being worth it?
I am interested in auditing and management, and I would like to work for a mid-cap accouting firm or in a corporate setting. I also plan on obtaining an MBA within the next four years.
A: I would say the one major factor is what location you want to work in. In general the better university will be instrumental in getting a higher paying job out of the box. However, this can be regionally dependent. In general Southern California there is priorty given to USC/UCLA grads, but in the midwest where you got the degree is less important.
I recommend calling the HR dept of a firm in the area you are interested in working in and asking their opinion. Also, take a look at career placement stats for each school just to give you a better idea of how quickly you could pay off the loans.
Q: What is the best route to getting an accounting/finance job?
I want to get into an accounting job but do not have experience. I have a bachelors of business finance and I will start on a masters of accounting program this year. I want to get some experience before I finish my masters program. What do I need to do to get started in the field?
A: Get a part time job with a temp agency and do as much in that field as possible. Even if it is to be a file clerk, get to work for someone in this business. This will get you to know some influential people, and show them you are able to do the job. Then ask them to help you get a permanent job in that field. Do lots of footwork, go apply as many jobs in accounting and finance business. Dress well, learn to speak well, and make sure your marks are top . Know your stuff. And keep looking.
In other word, start building your bridges now. Good luck.
Q: ADMIN vs. USER accounts: how to allow USER account access to programs installed by ADMIN account?
On my new windows Vista system I installed alot of my programs while using the admin account. Programs like dreamweaver, CoH, WoW, ect.
I then created another user account with less previlges for security reasons, but I dont have access to the programs I installed while using the admin account.
How do I allow access to those programs in VISTA using the user account?
A: When you installed them originally, it should have asked you (if it wasn't a crappy installer) if you're installing it for just that account (admin) or all users. But if it didn't...
Then uninstall them under the admin account, elevate the user account to admin temporarily, login to the user account, install the programs, then demote the user account back to just "user".
