Q: How do I know which programs I can delete from my computer?
When I tried to delete some programs, a warning box will pop up saying that if i delete this program, it will affect other programs on the computer? I don't understand what that means. Thanks for responding to my question.
A: Sometimes, if you take off a program, then it may effect others. An example is Google Updater is needed to run in the background while Google Talk or Google Earth is running. Many programs don't work this way, and you can tell if programs work in this way if during the uninstall process, it says 'These programs: XXXXXXXXXXXX may not work when you uninstall this. Would you like to continue?' Usually this will clue you in on whether to uninstall or not. Just make sure to keep the question in your mind: "Why am I uninstalling this?" If it is for several reasons (an example would be it is not useful, and I don't use it or anyone uses it) then you should be fine.
Q: What programs do people use to make proffesional mmorpg's?
Dont say " You need a huge crew" because i already have 10 friends helping. We are planning on working really hard on a mmorpg. But we dont know what programs to use. (we dont want something like rpg maker xp, or eclipse becuase we want to make our own rpg) Where can we get started? Thanks.
A: Hi, if your serious and you know how to program id love to help out.
You will probally be needing a game engine like Jmonkey.
You will also need a program like blender to create the graphics.
Q: What programs on vista need a parental password from an administrator?
Hey, I have Windows Vista Home. So, my dad set up parental controls. I can access programs like my cd games and the internet, but some have the parental controls sign. Is there a way to set things, so you can access it without parental password. I allowed everything, but I still need an administrator password. Also, tell me what programs do need a password and what doesn't need one. Thanks.
A: Hey Henwin-
Jeff here with the Windows Outreach Team. Unless you have administrator access to the computer, you will not be able to circumvent the settings put in place by the administrator to access whatever programs the administrator has put restrictions on. As for which programs need a password and which ones do not, that again is also up to whoever has administrator access. There is no set list of which programs do and which ones do not need a password.

Q: Is it possible to share television programs between two DVR's from different manufacturers?
I have an HD DVR from DirectTV in my living room. I also have a regular TiVo Series 2 DVR in my bedroom. I was wondering if it's possible to share programs between the two DVR's. I'm using home networking to connect the TiVo DVR. The DirectTV DVR gets programing information directly from the satalite link so I'm not even sure if it's possible to set it up for home networking. Thanks!
A: In your case it will not be possible. You can network your Tivo series 2 to your homes computer network but not the DirecTV DVR at this time. Now that said, IF you have a DirecTV Tivo then you can do some software modifications so that it can be networked to your homes computer network also.
What you are asking about is called MRV for MultiRoom Viewing and is ONLY possible with a Tivo or a DirecTV Tivo that has been modified. You can check out this site for more info: http://www.dvrplayground.com and this link for MRV and HMO setup: http://www.dvrplayground.com/article/12374/Enabling-MRV-and-HMO-with-a-DirecTiVo/
http://www.dvrplayground.com/article/13707/A-Home-with-Multiple-TiVos/
I have 5 DirecTV Tivo's that are networked and enjoy MRV and HMO on all five, I even have a 6th DirecTV Tivo that is ONLY for MRV storage and is NOT connected to my DirecTV account. Here you can find another link to how to do this: http://www.dvrplayground.com/article/10171/Living-with-two-Series-2-TiVo-s/
http://www.dvrplayground.com/comments/10172/Discussion---Living-with-two-Series-2-TiVo-s/
Again, I hope this helps. If you have any further questions or decide MRV is what you want to do then you can STILL purchase DirecTV Tivo's and use your DirecTV Access card in it so the D Tivo is on your account. If you OWN your DirecTV DVR+ then you can sell it to make back some of your money on a purchase of a D Tivo. DirecTV still allows DirecTV Tivo's to be used with their system. Check out this site for more info on this. http://www.weaknees.com or you can find them on Ebay also..They sell DirecTV units that have LARGE hard drives for MORE recording Time also...
If you have any further questions please feel free to send me an email.
Q: How to get programs from memory card onto my windows mobile phone again?
I had to do a hard reset on my windows mobile 6.1 phone. I took out my memory card before, and put it in after. How can I retrieve my programs from my memory card and use them on my phone afterwards?
A: You will only be able to recover programs on your memory card if you kept the installer package on the card itself. For the Windows Mobile platform, most installer packages are labelled as '.cab" files.
Go to Start-->Programs-->File Explorer and navigate to "Storage Card". From there, find your .cab installer files and run them. They should install the application back to the device.
Q: What summer dance programs are there in foreign countries?
I am 17 and I'm looking for summer dance programs abroad that have good dance training in jazz, modern, and ballet. Does anyone know of anything?
I live in the US, and I'd like to go anywhere in Europe, central, or south America.
A: This is very vague, are you from the US? Are you from the UK? Maybe this would help.
Also, do you have anywhere in mind where you want to go etc?
Q: What are some good programs for an old DOS laptop?
Hi! I've just recently found my dad's old DOS laptop and is planning on cleaning it up and using it. I already know my way around DOS, I just need help and sites where I can find great DOS programs, such as: internet browser, im client, text/programming editor, picture editor, maybe a dos gui, email client, and a couple games, and other cool programs you know about or have. Thanks!
A: Try browsing here for some ideas: http://www.opus.co.tt/dave/index.htm
Most of the programs there are either freeware or shareware.
Q: What recording programs does the lexicon work with?
I just got the lexicon alpha the other day and i tired to install the cubase that came with it but it didn't work on my computer.
i went though a whole bunch of stuff and decided that i would be better off using it on another program.
can somebody tell me what programs the lexicon alpha works with? i have heard that it doesn't work with audacity. is that true?
oh thanks well i have an acoustic electric with a preamp, so i was gonna run it though the alpha and then to the recording program. do you really think that audacity will work?
A: Hmm recording what?
Audio: Audacity
Video: Youcam
They are both free and has lots of fun / good features
Audacity should work with it. It does not matter what brand your computer is. As long as you have a mic.
Q: How do I choose which programs I want to automatically open when my computer starts up?
Right now, I have about 3 programs that start up when I turn on my computer. I do not wish for any of these programs to automatically start up, besides my WeatherChannel Desktop.
I have Frostwire opening, and I get some error message that I have to click close to saying the program file could not be found at start up.
A: open the start menu and click run
enter msconfig
there will be a tab for startup you can uncheck the programs you no longer want to run at start up
Q: How to cancel programs that automatically start up when I turn my computer on?
Everytime I turn my computer on it takes a while since it starts loading up programs that I don't use. They appear in the box at the bottom right side of the screen. How can I choose which programs I want to load when I start my computer?
A: Click Start -> Run and type "msconfig". Under the "Startup" tab, unselect whatever you don't want to load. Reboot. A dialog box will appear saying something about the configuration being changed. There's something you need to select and click "No" or "OK" to not start the configuration editor again. It's all rather obvious if you read the dialog box. Good night!
Q: Are there any programs to help law enforcement officers buy their first home?
Hi! My husband is a Correctional Officer with the State of California. We are ready to buy our first home, and we were wondering if anyone knew of any programs to help us with the down payment, closing costs, etc?
I know HUD has the officer next door program, but there are no homes currently available for it. But any other ideas would be greatly appreciated!
A: Not sure what California may offer, but you could check with the officer's credit union, they offer some pretty good deals. Also, consider VA if your husband is a vet, they also have incentives if he was wounded.
Best of luck! And give your husband a hug from Minnesota for the work he does!
Q: How do I get programs to stop turning on every time I start my computer?
Every time I start up my computer, some computer programs always starts up, like aim, yahoo im, etc.. I use windows vista.
Hopefully it will make start up go faster
A: In the Vista Windows Menu Search type msconfig and hit enter. Then click on the startup tab. You can uncheck startup programs but be careful, if you uncheck vital programs, you will have issues with Vista booting up or working.. If you run into a problem, boot in safe mode (F8) and then check the startup programs back in.

Q: Is their a program out there that will erase all start up programs that aren't necessary?
Hi. I'm currently using a laptop and it comes with a lot of programs (Acer Software). Every time I start up my computer, it takes a while for these programs to load. I also think these programs are affecting my connections when I play online games. Is their a program that will allow me to get rid of all programs on my computer except for the ones necessary for Windows to run? Thank you.
A: yes, download Tune-Up Utilities 2008. After you have installed it go to TuneUp StartUp Manager then right there you can unselect those programs that you dont want to run at start-up.
