Q: Help! Are online degrees just as good as normal university degrees?
I am going to an online accredited college to get my associates and eventually umy bachelors degree. Are online degrees widely accepted? Any personal experience would be nice!!
A: Hi - Your question intrigued me because I have wondered the same thing. I've actually been waiting to see if anyone would answer, but since no one has as of now, I went ahead and did a little research myself and found the following website with a lot of information about online degrees/universities, which looks like it would answer most, if not all, of your questions - it even includes a free eBook that you can download called "The Guide to Online Education". From quickly looking through here, something that jumped out at me is how you need to be aware and careful of "Diploma Mills" and unaccredited degrees. Anyway, here's the info I found for you. Looks like if you go with an accredited online university, then you shouldn't have any problem. (I'm sure that there is a lot more info online that you can also find youself, but this will help you get started.) Good luck to you!

Q: What type of university degrees would open the most doors to possible future careers?
online university degrees in canada, would like to know what degrees would work best to open the most doors in the country.
A: Bachelor of Commerce would be your best bet. It's mainly business related.
accounting, law, human resources, marketing, economics, governemt, taxation, computers and much more!
Q: Is their any college/university that offers online degrees to jamaicans?
A: No, it is strictly forbidden!!!!!!!!!
Q: Is there a university called colton specialising in online degrees??
I received some information on a university called colton which gives online degrees. but when i checked their website i didnt find it assuring. Can someone pls confirm this university's authenticity, coz i would like to join a course here.. thnx.
A: I don't find their website assuring either. There is no contact information other than online and toll-free numbers, which means that if they skip out with your money, you have no way of contacting them. If you google them, they do have the website, but they don't seem to be mentioned by anyone else at all - the website is the only thing that comes up. That is NOT what you would find if you were to look for Harvard University or even East Podunk State University. At the very least, someone would list the university on their online resume! The links to "accrediting" organizations are dead. I looked at the link to their MBA program, since I teach in that area, and their courses all looked like versions of the same thing, there were about 1/5 as many required courses as we have, and a lot of what would be considered essential MBA courses don't exist. There is no mention of who teaches these courses at all, and no bio on the President (and when I googled him, the only thing I could find under his name was a LinkedIn site that listed the person with that name as "Owner" of a construction business who has only a bachelor's degree in Texas. Either that is a different Donald Edwin, or this guy is completely unqualified to run an educational institution. In any case, I've never heard of a university president who was that low profile). The only positive is that it is really cheap, costing less than half as much for an entire degree than my school charges for a year. That, however, may be a sign that you get what you pay for. I would absolutely not recommend giving ANY money to these people.
Q: What is the best university that's affordable and offers degrees online?
By taking classes online to get your bachelor's degree?
A: See my answer to your previous question.
Look at your local state university first. If they do not have a distance education program, see these links.
The first link provides information on nationally respected Research 1 Universities that offer distance education. It is probably your best bet.
Q: Online Degrees (University of Phoenix) VS. Community College?
My husband is in the military and I was wondering, due to the fact that we are going to be moving around a lot, would it be smarter to go to an online college or a community college to get my associates degree in arts and sciences? We have a baby on the way and I have to work. The extra money is nice and I become moody and depressed if I don't work. I've heard that the University of Phoenix is over priced and that a lot of companies do not accept it as a legitimate degree. However, if I do go the community college I'd have to take night classes. Plus there is always a chance that we could get stationed somewhere else...if that happens will my student loan be transfered over to my new school? And will I still only have to start paying once I graduate? Any answers will be appreciated. Thank you!
A: My experience - friends that did online degrees and also in-class participants in "colleges" like those online - is that they are way overpriced and like you said, aren't considered quite legitimate degrees.
To my knowledge, all colleges now offer online classes. Not all classes are offered online... but you'll be surprised at how many are. This option would get you out of taking night classes...
If you have an idea of where you might be transfered to next, I would suggest submitting your FAFSA information to colleges in that area as well as the one you want to attend where you are now. This will cover your butt when you have to transfer and relieve a lot of frustration dealing with financial aid tracking. (Keep in mind that if you stick to online classes and then move, you probably will be able to finish the semester online and not worry about it - do keep your school informed of any changes though.)
Generally, student loans become payable 60 days after a six month grace period, after you graduate, drop to less than half time status or withdraw from school.
Sit down with an adviser at your local community college and pose all of your questions to them. Then, while you are there, talk with a financial aid adviser as well.
Regardless, your first step is to fill out a FAFSA. You can do that here http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/
Good luck and congratulations on your decision to continue your education!
Q: Are online degrees such as from the University of Phoenix looked at as real degrees from employers?
These degrees are always advertised, "Tired of your job? Earn your Bachelors or Masters online!" and I was just wondering if it is actually worth it to get one. I'm sure they're hard to get, especially in one year, so is all that work really worth it? Or is it better to just go to a normal university?
A: Yes, as long as they are accredited. I graduated from Keller Graduate School of Management this past fall and there has been no question about the school's validity. My degree did take 3 years to complete primarily because I work full time as well. You will never learn anything from a "school" that offers a degree in any time less.
The real test of your school's credibility and value is found in your everyday performance - not the paper.
I would also add that studying online is not at all easy... in any way. I pretty much spent every weekend of the last 3 years doing projects and assignments. The commercials that market a 'free and easy (online) student lifestyle' is misleading. I received my BS from Montana and my grad degree was twice as difficult - easily!
Thanks
Q: Does South University have a good online degrees?
I was looking into South University for my Masters. I wanted to know if they were a good school in general and for there masters programs?
A: I've never heard of this university, having been in higher education for 30 years. It does appear that they do have campus locations, which is usually a good sign, but on the other hand, there is nothing on their website about the credentials of their faculty, which is usually a red flag.
Q: Online Degrees Vs. Campaus University Degrees?
I am currently pursuing an online degree in Criminal Justice.
This is like my 5 semester so far. I am worried that most employers are not going to look at my online degre as if it was a On Campaus University Degree. Is there anyone who had any success with an Online Degree? Are you satisifed with the career you have? Please provide any valuable feedback.
A: I'm an Regional HR Manager and to be honest, at first glance I would put an on campus 4 year degree higher than an online degree. I would look at the other factors as well. Work/volunteer experiences etc. So for myself and other recruiters in CA I know, it would hold value, may not be as high as an established title IV onsite campus. Keep going through with it through. Another reason prospective employers like to see degrees is to see that you had stuck through it.
Q: Has anyone got a degree from Ashford University online?
I am considering applying at the school for an online bachelors degree but am a bit worried that the online degree wont be favorable when I eventually try and apply for a job with it. (I reside in New Jersey and the university is in Iowa)
Thank you this is exactly the info I am looking for Kadtree.I was just worried about finishing my bachelors there and then not being able to get a job since its an "online degree".I have an advisor calling me this afternoon ;)
A: I go to Ashford University, and it was recommended to me by my friend who graduated from there. She got a wonderful job, and it pays wonderful!
I am in NC, and this is my 4th class thus far.. They have many resources, and tutors, everything you can think of.. You actually go to Iowa to graduate with a class if you like.
I am also going for my BA in psychology, and all of my other credits transfered.. I LOVE this, I wish I had done it sooner..
I have the number of my advisor is you like, she is the best! She helps you out soooo much, with everything... Even things she don't have to, she goes way out of her way to see you thru the program...
Let me know if I can be more assistance to you...
