Q: University degree from the States recognized internationally?
I'm attending University in the States, in Florida to be specific, and am wondering if my degree in Computer Sciences would carry over to Austria. I plan on moving there permanently and would like to know if it really means anything or if I'm wasting my time at a University in the States. Thank you. NOT AUSTRALIA! NO KANGAROOS IN AUSTRIA. Sorry, but I hate it when people get Austria and Australia mixed up. And I'm not looking to transfer to another university, I mean will the degree be recognized if I'm getting hired? Will companies give me flak for having an American degree?

A: well computer science is a degree with highly transferable skills internationally speaking, so id presume they'd recognize most degrees in that field from the USA

Q: Is a college degree the same as a University degree?
I am applying online for a legal certification and in my education level I am being asked my highest level of education, which is a 2-year college associate degree, and Im on my way for a bachelo right now but i have not completed that one yet, just wanted to know if I should select the option of University degree or high school degree (there is no other in between those two), thanks!

A: By a "University degree" most people mean a 4-year degree. University degree is not necessarily the same as a college degree which can include associate degrees. If the school that granted the degree has "Junior" or "Community" in it, I would err on the side of caution and select "High School." You would hate to be kicked out later because they think you lied. Good luck, and keep on going!

Q: Is it worth getting a university degree?
I took a college course in recreation and I can't seem to find a job that pays well, plus I live in a small town where there are no jobs available. Will moving away from a small town and also getting a degree help me find a decent paying job? My advisor thinks it's a good idea to do so. It will cost a lot of money to go to university and that worries me. I took a in recreation and leisure course at a college and got a diploma. A: The average 25 year old with a college degree makes more than $20K per year above the average 25 year old without a degree. The gap widens as you age. Yes -- you may need to go elsewhere for that perfect job. You may also need to make yourself more marketable by taking something other than a class in recreation.

Q: Is there a web site that gives examples of whats expected for answers to University Degree assignments?
I want to start studying for an open university degree, but dont know whats expected of me, or the amount of work needed to pass the assigment.

A: I'm not sure what course you're on, but I'm a Law student at Leeds Metropolitan University and I bought some books which gave examples of high calibre answers for my 2nd year exams, but they could easily be used as guidance for assignment. May i suggest to look into answer guidance books for your discipline on Amazon. The books I used were 'Questions and Answers' (Oxford University Press). Assignments come in different sizes and I know on my course at least that they demand more each year you progress onto i.e. 1500, 2000, 3000. Don't worry too much about whats expected of you it will come naturally. I remember when i was a 1st year completing my first assignments as was bewildered as to the standard expected. Certain things you need to know is don't put you name on your assignment (identify yourself using your student id), use double spacing and always clearly specify your sources using the appropriate method (i.e. Harvard referencing). As to the content of your answers look to answer guidance books and make sure you follow the answer structure guidance given by your lecturer. Good luck

Q: Does somebody knows wich is the equivalent rating in USA for a 4 years university degree in sociology from a?
Belgian university.I have also an aggregation(for teaching).I need this information for my appliance to the Green Card lottery.Do I have a master for USA or only a degree?

A: Usually a 4-year degree is considered just a bachelor's. The generally rule is that the high schools in Europe are much stronger, and a diploma would perhaps be considered more the equivalent of an associate's degree, but that the universities are weaker, and thus a bachelor's degree is just a degree.

Q: How can I become a recruitment consultant without having a university degree? UK only please.?
I know it's possible, but I just need a bit of a career guidance as to where to start and whether I should start in a different sector and build up the experience from there. I really am confused. Some say that a university degree is not essential because it's a sales job, and then when I enquire about it to a certain consultancy firm, they would tell me that they only accept graduates. Please help. Realistic answers please.

A: You dont need a degree, most recruitment consultants are just loud mouthed obnoxious a rseholes.

Q: Is a Bachelors Degree from Baker College as good as a degree from a university?
I want to go to baker but i dont know if it could be compared badly to a university degree.

A: Baker is an independent, non-profit school with both campus and online degree programs. Baker has been in operation in some form or another for over 100 years. While it won't be on the same level as most big state universities, like University of Florida. It will be considered on the same level as a small to medium state university and better than some other online schools. In other words, there are definitely worse options than Baker. Good luck,

Q: How can I verify a foreign university degree?
Our company often faces hiring employees with university degrees from other countries. Is there an easy way to verify those degrees, i.e. to make sure that they are legit, the university is accredited, the major is correct, etc.? In particular, I am interested in verifying degrees from former Soviet Union (Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Armenia, Moldova, etc.), India, China, and the EU. Thank you!

A: You need someone located in the country that can research the degrees for you. They have to be manually researched locally, just like in the US. However, you need someone familiar with how to contact and deal with the universities in that country. There are some agencies that provide such services. Contace the consulate in each country for information.

Q: which university degree would be worthless in the current economic crisis?
Is it even good idea now to even go to university where there is a predicted unemployment increase in the professional sector of the workforce. Which degree/careers would be best to do and which should be avoided in terms of the current economic crisis in the US and other developed economies?

A: You shouldn't be thinking about the current economic situation when choosing a degree as it changes all the time, just because its terrible now does not mean its going to be in 4 or 5 years. The economy is always going through highs and lows, it won't be in a low forever. It is always a good idea to gain a degree, in times of economic struggle it is the unskilled who are more likely to suffer and either way a degree is more likely to get you a degree with a higher salary. All degrees are useful, and you should study what you enjoy.

Q: How to compare university degree grades between Scotland and the USA??
I have a First Class Sociology Degree from Glasgow University in Scotland, UK. I am applying to Georgetown University in the USA and they want my Grade Point Average (GPA) The UK does not do GPA. Is there a recognized standard for comparing the two different ways of grading???

A: There is no recognized standard. However, US grad schools get a lot of applicants out of education systems that are, at least in part, based on the British model. So contact Georgetown. They will be able to advise you on how to complete that section of the application. A British first would be the rough equivalent of a US GPA of around 3.5+, but that's my rough estimate - not anything you should be putting on an application!
