Q: Reputable online teaching degree?
I have a bachelor's degree in Asian studies/international communications. Have been teaching English in Japan for 2 and a half years, and would like to continue working and living here whilst completing an MA in education. Anybody know of any good programs?

A: There are some good programs. I worked with teachers in Toledo and at Sylvania schools they negotiated some tuition help for certain schools and one of them was an on line program. Now they did have to get in groups of 3 or 4 and do some joint work and then were on computer and phone at times. I can't recall the name of the school. But you need to look at ascertification. Check with a local Board of Eduation and ask for the Curiculum people or the HR person and see if they can suggest an online masters degree teacing program. Superintendent should be able to suggest one as well. I think one is Ashland but I'm not sure if it is connected to Ashland Univ. in Ohio. My daughter took some classes at BYU on line, but it was finishing up a few undergraduate classes. You could also check with some of the colleges you were connected with back in the states. BYU has a big international program, but I think that is more in business than in eduation. If you want to teach then you need to decide if you want ot teach on the HS level or college level. Your master's might be different depending on which you wanted to do. When you come back, where do you want to locate? Check with schools in that area both for master degrees on line and also with the type schools where you'd want to work. They may be able to advise you and also to tell what they need. There is a National Teacher Certification program and you might want to check on line about that and what the qualifications are. If you have National Teacher Certification, that could be a big point in you being hired over someone else. Good luck to you.

Q: Teaching degree online?
Is there any school that offers a teaching degree online? Or is this a career that has to be obtained in regular college?

A: A teaching degree requires that you spend many hours teaching in a school before receiving your degree. Arranging that requires a great deal of organization and most likely cannot be accomplished by an online university. Also, be very careful about online Universities. Make sure that the one you are interested in is accredited by the same organizations that accredit land based universities. If not, you will be throwing your money down the drain.

Q: teaching degree 100% online?
can you get a teaching degree 100% online????

A: Actually you can. HOWEVER *this is a big but* No college of teachers will recognize it.. so save your money. As you will just have to redo the program. If you can't register with the college of teachers, you can't teach in that state/province.

Q: what is the best way for active duty military to go about getting an online degree and teaching?
I'm currently serving in Fort Bragg, NC and I am looking to get an online or correspondence bachelors, as my schedule does not allow for much actual classroom time. I will be reenlisting and so I will be either here or somewhere else in the army for at least enough time to earn one. I plan on becoming a middle school history teacher after I leave the Army, and I'm having a hard time finding a credible school to do this through. I do not know a whole lot about the process, so any help in this would be greatly appreciated. I know I will need a 4-year degree in a history-related field and I will have to get a teaching certification of some kind, and that is about it. Thanks, I look forward to reading answers.

A: Go to the education center on base and tell them you want to learn more about troops to teachers. There is a big push to do just what you are trying to do. Also they will get you onto EarmyU which has nothing but online degree granting schools, all legit and several that offer teaching degrees. Any other answer would be a waste of the benefits you have available to you.

Q: Where can someone with a master's degree find an online teaching job?

A: Look through your local/ area college listings and make a list of all the institutions that have on-line courses. On their websites, look for their careers/employment/ job listing section, and look at the adjunct faculty listings. Thats usually where "distance learning" positions are listed.

Q: Where can I get a respected sports managment degree online?
I am looking to get back into college because I aspire to be a football coach. So I am looking for advice on which way I should go. I need to take classes online and I figure I should get a degree in sports management or finish out my teaching degree, or maybe both. Does anybody out there have any expert advice? I am kind've eery about online school but that is my only option right now.

A: The key is to make sure the college/university is accredited. I have three basic recommendations for everyone looking into online/distance education. They all have to do with exploring; after all, you have to defend your assets. 1. Make certain that you have triple checked their accreditation. First, they tell you what it is, then you go to that accrediting body’s website (not through the link provided by the school), and thirdly you would visit the department of education to see what they have to say. Do your diligent research into the institutions once you have narrowed down to a couple. You can look at the Better Business Bureau for more information on the college. 2. You must have extreme self motivation and be able to teach yourself per say. This means that you will not have someone telling you verbally, so it is up to you to get the information from the course room, text, and other resources. The best way to look at it is like a guided independent study course. 3. Review your goals, personal and professional. Make sure that the school that you are going to offers the programs that match your goals. Do not settle. There are many programs that are similar, but you have to make the ultimate decision. Do not let it be based on finances and length of program, but the fact that when you are finished or near finished you will be able to assume your proper place in the career field sought. You should market yourself and not the degree or university. There are many traditional universities offering degrees that can be earned through online methods. Distance Learning Alliance has a list of these traditional online schools. Look at that if you are truly concerned with the name of the school. Good luck on your search!

Q: How good is an online degree. I would like get one?
I have only taken one class in college. I am too busy to attend a regular school. I work full time and mabye an online degree would be worth looking into. I would like to be a teacher when I retire from my job. Can an online degree qualify me to be a teacher in Kansas? Is there a certain online school that has test outs for the easier courses so I could graduate faster. Any info would be helpful especially if you have an online degree and are teaching.

A: I currently teach computer science. I received my degree from NRI schools. just check very carefully if they are accredited. also check with your local community college. be very cautious. not all correspondence schools are accredited and even if they are, you have to check if your state of residence accepts them. NRI is now closed. but McGraw-Hill has an excellent reputation and is accepted in all most all 50 states.

Q: Do i have to go to college to get my teaching degree ? or can i get it online?

A: Any accredited teaching program would involve spending a semester as a student teacher in a local school so you can be recommended for certification. Online programs almost certainly won't be able to do that for you.
