Sometimes I see an advertisement get a Master's Degree Online. Is it possible to get MBA degree online? How much does it cost? Is it a real degree? Will it help to find a job? Q: Questions about an online MBA degree?
Ok, to start off, i was not planning on college or anything so i have no idea how this stuff work or what types of degrees there are. all i know is Associate’s, Bachelor's, and Master's. I want to get a Master's in Business. So here is my question: Do i need my bachelor's degree before i can get into a master's program? and do i need an associate's before i can get a bachelor's? or are there programs where you go straight to master's or something? i'm just really confused about all of this and i dont really know who to ask... oh and one more question. if i got a bachelor's degree in business online with a decent GPA, would any universities even consider me for a Master's program(on campus)?

A: You will have to have a bachelor's before you can enter a master's. You don't need an associates to enter a bachelor's. To get into a good MBA program, you will need a bachelor's degree with a GPA of at least 3.0 (higher for better programs), a good score on the GMAT, and some reference letters. Your bachelor's can be in any subject but you might have to take some extra courses if it's not in business. There are some pretty good programs online these days - don't restrict your search to only those "as seen on TV" colleges. You'll want your school to be regionally accredited and if you're majoring in business you'll also want it to be AACSB accredited. Some good option can be found here ---> http://www.geteducated.com/rankings/best_bachelorsbm.asp

Q: Best MBA Degree Programs? Do online grad degrees seem a dime a dozen??
I have recently graduated with my bachelors degree in Business Management and am questioning what to do about grad school. Online courses with someone like University of Phoenix sounds convienient and yet, I am worried that they are a diploma mill and viewed as such by employers. Does attending a local university and obtaining an MBA hold more weight in the business world?

A: An employer is most likely not going to respect an online MBA degree from University of Phoenix. Since I know how much University of Phoenix costs, I would wonder about the UoP MBA graduate's cost management skills. Why spend over $700 per semester credit hour for an MBA program that is not AACSB accredited? Especially when there are AACSB accredited programs that are much cheaper. For those who don't know, AACSB accreditation is an additional program accreditation for business programs. It is over and above regional accreditation. I believe that all big state universities have AACSB accreditation for their business programs. If you have the option of attending your local university, that would probably be best. If you have to attend online, Mississippi State University has an AACSB accredited MBA program for $444 per semester credit hour. http://www.distance.msstate.edu/ Always check accreditation of a school before enrolling. You can do this at http://ope.ed.gov/accreditation/search.asp You can learn more about accreditation at http://www.ed.gov/admins/finaid/accred/index.html You can learn more about AACSB accreditation at http://www.aacsb.edu/ Good luck

Q: What is the difference between MBA degree received from regular school and MBA received from an online school?
I'm just thinking about getting my MBA and considering these options.

A: Much of the benefit of an MBA program is the interaction you have with other students, not only in class but on projects, presentations, field assignments etc. You simply can't get the same quality in an online program. As MBA alumni, you have a lifelong group with which to network and gain support--also much less available online. I would fully investigate not only onlne vs. regular program, but also the quality of either in determining whether you should attend. Sometimes lower-end degrees are not really accepted in the marketplace or don't give you any premium--the exception is if you have extensive experience already in the industry, and you want to stay geographically in the same area. Many employers in the San Francisco Bay area have "blackballed" Univ of Phoenix graduates, for instance, because they don't believe that the degree is equivalent to what they are seeking in someone with an MBA. If you are staying basically with the same company in the same location and want to move up, your course makes sense and might be worth the investment. Otherwise, please reconsider the online very carefully!

Q: What is the fastest online program to get an MBA degree?
Please answer with accredited programs, not scams or fake diplomas.

A: There is no fastest - a real MBA will take a little time. A legitimate MBA taken with a full-time course load will take 1-2 years. There's no shortcut to a master's degree so time will depend on the specific program's required semester hours. The closer to 30 semester hours you can get, the faster it will be. Don't forget to take into account any prerequisites. Online programs are accredited by the same people that accredit resident programs and there are indeed some AACSB accredited online MBAs. AACSB best buys - http://www.geteducated.com/rankings/best_mbaaacsb.asp Regional best buys - http://www.geteducated.com/rankings/best_mbareg.asp All are regionally accredited and none particularly inexpensive. Not on these lists is Jacksonville State University (Alabama) which I think should be there. The price is excellent and last I looked they are AACSB.

Q: What are the pros and cons of having an online MBA?
Are the so called "10 month" online degree program acceptable to finding/getting an job? Is it worth it to have it? Other than their "accreditation", is acceptable to people looking for MBA graduate with and "online degree"? Are the so called "10 month" online degree program acceptable to finding/getting an job? Is it worth it to have it? Other than their "accreditation", is it acceptable to people looking for MBA graduate with an "online degree"?

A: My personal experience as both a student and an instructor has been excellent in an online environment. Of course, I am only referring to fully accredited institutions. I earned my MBA and almost finished my PhD through hybrid programs. Most of the course work was done via asynchronous online methods. If you think about graduate work is mostly research. I would not be teaching college and consulting all over without it. Plus, the paper does not say ONLINE. I would recommend pursuing a degree from an accredited institution that offers a campus experience as well. This does not mean that you will go to campus, but who will know? I always have three recommendations for everyone looking into online/distance education. They all have to do with exploring after all you have to defend your assets. 1. Make certain that you have triple checked their accreditation. First, they tell you what it is, then you go to that accrediting bodies website (not through the link provided by the school), and thirdly you would visit the department of education to see what they have to say. Do your diligent research into the institutions once you have narrowed down to a couple. You can look at the Better Business Bureau for more information of the college. 2. You must have extreme self motivation and be able to teach yourself per say. This means that you will not have someone telling you verbally, so it is up to you to get the information from the course room, text, and other resources. The best way to look at it is like a guided independent study course. 3. Review your goals, personal and professional. Make sure that the school that you are going to offers the programs that match your goals. Do not settle. There are many programs that are similar, but you have to make the ultimate decision. Do not let be based on finances and length of program, but the fact that when you are finished or near finished you will be able to assume your proper place in the career field sought. You should market yourself and not the degree or university. There are many traditional universities offering degrees that can be earned through online methods. Look at that if you are truly concerned with the name of the school. Good luck on your search!

I would like to earn an MBA degree online from any reputed university round the globe. As I am full day busy with office work so no way to attend regular school to earn this degree. I need best and easy way to complete this.

A: Hello Cyber 7244: In response to your question, "How can I earn an MBA degree from a best open University", I recommend the University of Phoenix MBA program. I am a recent graduate and had positive experiences in the program. It is highly accredited and has a proven track record of success. My employer, which is a renowned health care facility, recognizes the on-line program and offers tuition reimbursement to employees pursuing their degree. In fact, I am in the process of writing about my experiences with UOP. The book also includes strategies and tips to help prospective students and those already enrolled to successfully complete the program. Look out for the book! It is going to be very helpful to you.
