Everytime someone asks a question about online schools teachers and professors put it down. There is more than enough evidence showing that employers not only support but actaully prefer online education because it proves to them that their employee's are flexible, can multi-task and are able to set goals and achieve them. Why is there still a small number of idividuals who hate online universities?

A: This is an extremely good question. Online education is different than the traditional classroom setting and like most people, they see online education as an enemy because it is progressive change. They fear it. They fear it will take away their jobs and make them useless but if they would only embrace it they could use it to enhance their careers. Online education is the fastest growing section of post-secondary education. While traditional colleges struggle in a highly competitive field of a shrinking pool of traditional candidates, the online revolution is meeting the needs of the fastest growing sector of college learners, the working adult. While some have been hesitant to grasp the idea of delivering an education online most have realized that online is the only way they are going to continue to attract new students. Developing an online education system is extremely expensive and very time consuming and that is one of the main reasons public schools have not gotten deeper into the mix and why for-profit universities have been able to lead the pack as top-quality online educators recognized by major corporations and other entities. Some educator see online as a end of a means (the destruction of education in America) while others see it as the beginning of one in that we can now get instructors from all over the world delivering education to anyone with an internet connection. Look at education in America today. Traditional colleges are not delivering students that employers need. Mathematic, engineering, and science positions either go unfilled or are being filled by immigrant workers who are being better educated in their own country. Some educators argue that employers want employees with a traditional, face-to-face education but this is not true. Most educators have never had a coporate job so how would they know what the real world wants. There is a huge difference between what academia thinks is needed and what the real world requires. We are a global society and it has become that way through the non-face to fac einteraction created by the internet. Employers want people who can think fast, adjust, be focused, and have a very well rounded personality. They don't care where you got your education from. I can see where it would be important to have 18-22 year olds in class but are you telling me that a 37 year old woman who works in finance for a major company is going to reap any difference in the quality of her education whether she gets it at a land based school or an online school? Probably not. There are certain professions where the education needs to be face-to-face but most business or IT degrees do not. What I find funny is that more educators use online as mean s to get graduate degrees than any other sector of the working population yet they are the first to condemn it. Ironic isn't it. You know you might pay a few thousand dollars more for an online degree but look how much you save in other expenses. Online is needed because most adults can't go to school two or three nights a week and they certainly can't leave their job during the day to go attend class.

A: Yes, you can do online classes with a high school education. My advice is to look into the colleges of your choice to make sure that they are accredited. I took classes through Phoenix College, you have to be dedicated and willing to work because most of your work will done on your own. It is not like having a conversation with your classmates when you don't understand something, you have to do a lot of writing (research papers) because that is the only way for your professor to know how well you understand the material. A: I know someone who already had a job and a position she wanted in mind, talked to her boss about it, took the University of Phoenix online and now she's got that awesome promotion... But I also know a girl who did the University of Phoenix, got her degree and still braids hair :( I guess it's what YOU make of it and what plans you have in mind. I think if it was a job interview and the ONLY decision was between your degree and a traditional degree, an employer would choose traditional, but if you have skills and determination, I don't think that would be a deterrent to landing a job. If it's what works for you, go for it. Find out the cost first though. I don't know what the difference is. The girl who braided hair went for free or low income, the girl who wanted the promotion paid full price, but I'm sure had reimbursements through the job.

I have a Bachelors of Science, but can't seem to find a decent job. I am considering going back for my Masters. I work in the day, and must be home in the evening. A: In my 15 years of HR experience I can tell you that Univ of Phoenix is better than a BA/BS degree alone, but they sit close to or at the bottom of any MBA program. What is your BS in? If you are serious about improving your job prospects you not only need to chose the correct career path but also the best school for you. There are many...MANY schools with a better reputation. They will take longer to graduate, but nothing good comes easy! If you want to pay your tuition and buy a degree as quickly as possible, U of P is for you.

I am, and I do. I'm working on a bachelor's degree online, and it's so frustrating when people bad mouth it. They don't seem to take me that seriously. I work just as hard as any other student. I'm afraid that if I get my degree online that it may be hard to get a job, because of some people having negative thoughts about online education. Do you ever wonder if this is possible? I love going online. It works for me and my schedule. I am just so tired of people bad mouthing me for it. A: I didn't take an offline degree myself yet, but I found a real jerk who trashed online degrees. I basically questioned the value of his degree, he "told on" me, and I got into trouble. But then, to make it even funnier, he's looking for an online PhD! Some online degrees are wastes of money. There are a lot of disreputable firms to beware of. I don't think online degrees help with many jobs. If the institution is not known for offline degrees as well, then it's likely not well thought of. But what you can do is take the credits from the first half, and move to campus for the last part. If you can't transfer the credits to an online campus, well, then it was a bad choice, sorry. You don't put it on your cv/resume unless you were doing nothing else at that time. They shouldn't bad mouth you for it though. You may have been taken for a ride, but you learn from your mistakes. And if you learned something from the classes, well, it's the knowledge you use, not the degree.

A: No the online degrees don't 100% prove that the student on the degree is the student that took the course. Personally i've know a few people who bought there online degrees. A degree form a developing country is better than no degree at all. But it might not look good to an employer that your an american citizen with a foreign degree. They might think you weren't smart enough to get an american education. But always apply and try. You never know, an employer might like your uniqueness and international experience.

A: I am homeschooling my four children right now. When I graduate them (still many years away before the last one graduates) I plan on getting a teaching degree. A: I'm sorry, but nobody is going to give you a degree in choreography online. You need to be doing physical work with dancers and showing your choreography and thinking process to another person, and not just through video or something. You need to go to a college or dance program and start getting your work and name out there.

I not sure about the online classess if the lesson will be clear are is it better to attend at a campus. I am also concerned about the total fee for the degree that I am looking into. A: Comparing prices for online degrees is tough because different schools measure different things. Try as best you can to get a common credit-hour price, like $1,700 per credit hour, so you can compare apples to apples. Online learning is a good option, especially if you live far away from a campus. Some schools issue certificates and diplomas that are identical to on-campus diplomas, so future employers have no idea whether you did a degree online or not.
