Q: can I get into law school with an online bachelors degree?
an online bachelors degree can be achieved in just over two years.

A: Any bachelor's degree can be completed in just over 2 years. There's no such thing as "a 4-year degree"; it's a 120 semester hour program of study. If you take a maximum load and don't take any breaks (not even summer) then you can finish any bachelor's in about 2.5 years. Use some departmental and standardized exams and you can move it even faster. Provided you can function under that sort of workload and maintain a respectable GPA. Just because something can possibly be done doesn't mean that you or I can do it or that it's a good idea to do it that way. If it were easy to complete the degree in 2.3 years then we'd not generally call it a "4-year degree" and people wouldn't take an average of 5 years to complete one. 21 hours per semester (Fall, Spring) + 9 hours in summer = 51 hours per year. 120/51 = 2.35 years That workload would fail most students out though - be careful what you attempt because it will follow you. Whether a law school will accept any degree depends entirely on the reputation of the school that issued the degree and the quality of your work. There are some really good online programs out there - and there are some really bad brick-and-mortar programs. It's all about the quality of the school and very little about online vs classroom.

Q: How long does it take to earn a bachelors degree from an online university as opposed to a real university?
Ive heard it is a shorter time if you work more. I've also heard it is the same amount of time. Is it a work at your own pace kind of thing? Thanks in advance!

A: A bachelor's degree requires about 120 semester hours. It's misleading that we call that a 4-year degree. Don't think in terms of "years" but instead in terms of credit hours. The bachelor's requires 120 semester hours if you take 10 years to do it too. Most people take 4-5 years to get 120 semester hours but you can take less time at almost any college (online or not) by: 1) no breaks -- no summer break and no spring break and if your college has a semester, no Christmas break. Most schools offer more than 2 semesters, it's just that most students like that long spring and summer break. 2) max course load -- full-time is 12 hours (4 courses) and most students average 15 hours (5 courses). Most colleges will allow you to take as many as 21 and 18 is not at all uncommon. 3) test out of basics -- if you have the skills and knowledge, you can eliminate about 30 hours of your college requirements using standardized testing such as CLEP/DANTES/AP Let's say you do #1 and attend 3 semesters a year and you also do #2 and max at 19 hours average per semester. You'd complete 57 hours per year. If your bachelor's requires 120 hours (as most do) then 120/57 = 2.1 years. If you tested out of 30 hours too then you'd be looking at 90/57 = 1.57 years. It works this way at every college (online or not). Caution though - there's a reason that most people who try this sort of acceleration never graduate. This is akin to having a full time job and working overtime every single day.
