masters degrees online questions and answers

Q: How can I get an LPN or RN associates degree online? I can only seem to find Bachelors and Masters degrees.?
A: You can't find LPN or RN program online because I don't believe they exist, you will have to go in-class to get any of these two degrees because there are clinicals you have to do during these two (LPN or RN) programs and those can not be done without going to hospitals and stuff through the college or wherever the program is offered. But, once you get your RN associates degree there are tons of RN to MSN or RN to BSN programs offered online and you can pretty much pick and choose from them depending on your choice. I hope this helps.
Q: I'm thinking about getting a masters degree online. Problem is I was a C student in college. Am I out of luck?
Don't you need at least a B average in your undergraduate degree to get into a masters program?
A: No, you are not out of luck. There are plenty of schools that have online degree programs that might accept you. It depends which field of study for your degree and it depends upon the requirements of the school. For example, a business school may require a certain score on a GMAT exam combined with your undergraduate GPA. The lower the undergraduate GPA, the higher the score on the GMAT required for unconditional entrance into the MBA program. Basically, search for programs in which you are interested and then apply. If you are rejected, ask why and ask if you can improve your chances. If that school says no way, then try the next best school. There will be legitimate schools that will accept you, you just have to try.
Q: Anybody know anything about online healthcare degrees to be specific-masters of occupational therapy degree?!?
I wanted to know if it would be possible for me to get a master's degree in Occupational Therapy online? And if so, is it legitimate? Would the degree be widely accepted and would I be able to make what people who went to an actual school make? How long would it take and would it be hard to do while trying to work? Any REAL feedback would really be appreciated.
A: I have looked into on-line education for something not related to the medical field. Irregardless...you MUST make sure it is an accredited school and one which is accepted by a local medical board. There are lots of scams out there. Make sure you fully research. Even if you learn the material...if the school is not 'recognized' by anyone you are basically screwed.
Q: online masters degrees?
Are they worth getting?
A: There are plenty of legitimate places to get an online Master's degree. You can even get them from state universities. For example, the following schools have online Master's degree programs.
University of Florida - http://www.distancelearning.ufl.edu/degrees.aspx
Florida State University - http://learningforlife.fsu.edu/online/
Mississippi State University - http://www.distance.msstate.edu/
University of Wyoming - http://outreach.uwyo.edu/ocp/
Penn State - http://www.worldcampus.psu.edu/
Harvard - http://extension.harvard.edu/2006-07/courses/DistanceEd/progs/
That is only a small sample of what is available. The added benefit of getting an online degree from these schools and schools like them is the degree conferred is no different from the degree conferred to a student on-campus.
If you had posted what type of Master's degree you were looking for, I might have been able to find the exact program.
Finally, no matter what school you choose, check accreditation at http://ope.ed.gov/accreditation/Search.asp You can learn more about accreditation at http://www.ed.gov/admins/finaid/accred/index.html
EDIT: If someone tells you that you are better off just getting a forged transcript, that indicates that they don't know what they are talking about. In some states, it is illegal to claim to have a degree that wasn't awarded to you.
Good luck
Q: Do law schools accept bachelors/masters degrees earned online?
i want to go to places in either indiana (indianapolis school of law) or pennsylvania (pittsburgh school of law) but am not sure they will let me in with a degree earned from an online school (univeristy of phoenix).
please help :)
yea i should probably try that lol. ive looked on both homepages of the colleges and could not find any number to contact them, so thats why i tried here.
yea, the lady i spoke on the phone with (who runs addmissions) says its VERY accredited
A: May be this site can help you

Q: What is a good site to go to for an online masters degree in social work?
A: University of Phoenix has great programs - but they are expensive in comparison to most brick& mortar university ootions.
Q: How much is an online masters degree in Nursing?
A: it varies a lot. i'll send you an email with the website links
Q: masters degree online?
After i graduate from a 4 year nursing school.. Im thinking of working and earning a masters online .. is this a good idea and what are some good online schools
A: it depends on the program. I know there are online programs for MBAs but not sure if online program would be appropriate for the medical field.
My opinion - even for MBAs, it is still much better to go through the full time in person experience. That is how you can build your network and really have a full MBA experience. Online programs would offer you the certificate / degree but would offer other limited social interactions, networking, etc.
Q: Online Masters Degree's: Does FAFSA and States Fund? Are they accredited?
I'm a working professional and I'm considering enrolling in an online masters degree program. My field is policy, international relations, etc. What I was interested in is whether they are cost competitive, wether aid can be applied for via FAFSA and whether they are accredited i.e. they are "real" degrees.
A: if the university is accredited, then it is accredited. BUT, be sure the accreditor is recognized by the US DoE (go to www.chea.org for more info on accreditation)
Some offer loans, few offer any other kinds of grants.
Try Western Governors U..... or Excelsior College
Q: I want to get a LEGITIMATE masters degree in history online or through a distance program. Any suggestions?
I already know about Phoenix online and others, I am looking for actual state universities or private colleges with actual campuses that people have heard of.
A: Fort Hays State University (Master's of Liberal Studies with concentration in history available. This institution is accredited by a legitimate accreditation association.)
Norwich University (Military history only, but it is also accredited by a recognized body.)
Having said that, both degrees, although accredited by recognized accreditation associations, would be considered worthless in the larger context of academia, because legitimate Master's degrees in the liberal arts require close mentoring and guided research within the context of an active intellectual community. Online programs can only provide reading lists, examinations, and discussion groups, and are only able to focus on content or data.
A real Master's degree from a "brick and mortar" institution is not merely about reading, taking tests, and discussing the reading with others. A real Master's degree focuses on theory and methodology. It requires a setting in which a student can take the first steps toward a certain level of competency in a subject area, guided by professors with expertise in that area, and engaged by peers with ongoing similar methodological and theoretical investigations.
I do wish you the best in your pursuit of further studies.
Q: Which college offers online masters degree in Public Health at affordable rates?
A: It'd be better if you went to a regular campus for a public health degree since the work is very hands-on. But here's a link for you...
Q: Would an employer look down at a person who earned her Masters degree online?
Okay, so I'd really like to go to grad school. I want to work within the state government as well as working for non-profit organizations, therefore I'd like to get my Masters in Non-Profit Management or Public Affairs (still a little undecided). I found a few graet schools online where I could earn my Masters and I ever did my research by checking them out on the BBB (Better Business Bureau). Anyway, I wanted to know (because I've asked around to teachers at my job) would an employer frown upon someone who wants to work at their office/company/business and they've earned their Masters degree online?
A: Ask your employer what colleges they accept from a business standpoint. First and foremost you need to know the school is accredited. Don't go to a school that is not accredited by one of the major accreditation factions...Here is the list of the accrediting factions...http://www.back2college.com/library/accreditfaq.htm
Also, its good to know if your school is accredited with a business accreditation AACSB and also regionally accredited. Here is the link where you can look up to see if your college is accredited by the AACSB http://www.aacsb.edu/
These types of accreditations, if the employer is that interested in your school, the accreditations will garantee their approval in the lines of business. Make sure especially with online schools they are definitley regionally accredited.
Q: In your opinion, what are some high-quality universities from which to earn your masters degree online?
I am not certain of a specific degree program yet...
A: Your questions a little vague because you don't mention what area.
Here are some guidelines.
First check Peterson's (or other sources) to find which schools offer on line degrees.
Second, sort schools by type of on line degree. Fully online, hybrid on line (has some on campus requirements) or just online course work.
Third: Select the accredited schools which have the type of online participation you need. You shouldn't really consider any school which does not have regional accreditation (SACS, North Central, etc) Even if the degree is just as good, unaccredited schools just aren't widely accepted
Next, pick the schools are are "bricks and clicks". That is schools that have regular campuses. The top picks are what are called "land grant" universities which are state universities. An online degree from Whatever State University is generally as accepted as a residential degree except for really picky employers.
Surprisingly, most Masters degrees are available online from "land grant" universities somewhere.
Q: I am looking for an online masters degree in counseling from a university with a good reputation.?
A: ^That's not entirely true. We're not talking about a UPhoenix degree here.
Some employers will favor a brick and mortar degree, some wont care, some even though few will prefer a online degree over the other. Point being is you really need to get your degree from a school that is regionally accredited and prefferably associated with a brick and mortar school.
If your looking for a school counseling career path Umass Boston has a online online program for "Master of Education in School Counseling". It is the same degree as from the brick and mortar school and wont say you took the courses online on it if you are worried about that. Keep in mind this isn't a open enrollment program. The admission requirements include:
-An official transcript from each institution attended (both graduate and undergraduate).
-Undergraduate transcript with at least a 3.0 cumulative average.
-Bachelor’s degree equivalent to U.S. bachelor’s degree (a 3-year bachelor’s degree plus a two-year master’s is also accepted or students can complete additional undergraduate courses).
-A minimum of five undergraduate social science courses.
-Submission of Test Scores: Out-of-state and international applicants must submit a test score for either the Millers Analogy Test (MAT) or the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) unless the applicant already holds a graduate degree from an accredited U.S. institution. In-state applicants must submit test results for the Massachusetts Test for Educator Licensure (MTEL) - Literacy & Communications portion.
-International students must submit scores for the TOEFL or IELTS.
-Three strong letters of recommendation indicating the applicant’s ability to work well with others.
-A two-part statement of interests and intent. The first part (300 words) gives a student’s reasons for wishing to pursue graduate study; the second part (at least 1,200 words) describes a student’s interests and discusses the kind of work s/he would like do to in the intended field.
-At least one year of paid or volunteer work in a school or equivalent setting is recommended.
-etc...

Q: has anyone "bought" a masters degree online and used it to land a job?
A: Save your money, they're not even worth the paper they are written on and the type of employers you will be dealing with are well aware of these diploma mills.
