Q: do they call your recommendation references included for applications for entrance into masters degree program?
So far I have heard that they do not normally call, I dont have a problem with it but i was curious. Winterberry whoever you are show a little class pls. Your sarcasm is unnecessary.

A: Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. In fact, they don't even look at the application! They put all the names up on a board, of the people who's checks cleared. Then they get drunk and throw darts. Whoever's name is hit by a dart, is IN! If you're hit with TWO darts, you automatically graduate with honors.

Q: Which degree does a Masters program look at?
I just graduated from college with a degree in psychology and have decided that I do not want to pursue that career. Why did I continue? Because I only had less than 10 hrs left. Now Im going back to school to pursue a degree in buisness. When I get my second degree in buisness which GPA will a Masters program look at? The first degree, second degree, or both?

A: Both. Your GPA is usually an accumulation of all the courses you've taken. Why not just go for your Masters in business? You might have to take a few lower level courses, but it will probably be much quicker than a second Bachelors and then your Masters. Look into it!

Q: What Masters Degree program is appropriate for Bachelor of General Science (BGS)?

A: Virtually any. Most Masters are conversion degrees designed to qualify people in an area different to their undergrad studies. Admission requires a degree in any area. Thanks Bill

Q: How dificult is it to complete a Masters degree or a Doctoral Program in France?
Non-native speakers of French who have actually been there and have earned a Masters or Doctorate in France answer only. No one from other academic fields need reply. I would like to complete my advanced degree in France. Some good ideas are needed and what should I be most aware of when doing this.

A: Well, you need to speak French for one, unless you want a graduate degree in English. There are many factors to be taken into consideration. What would the degree be in? Do you have a university in mind? I would consider checking with the Cultural Services of a French consulate, or the French Embassy in Washington DC, depending on where you live. They may be able to give you some hints. You can also see which French institution your university has ties with within the realms of an exchange program. Once you have got the foundation laid out, it will make it easier to really know where to go from there.

Q: Why can you only enter a Nursing Masters degree program only if you have you bachelors in Nursing?
I will soon have a BS in Psych and a BA in Anthro, and I could try and get into a jillion different Masters programs (such as Sociology, English, etc.) with those, but why is the only way to get into a MSN (Master of Science in Nursing) only accessible is you already have a Bachelors in Nursing? I know its possible to take the MCATs and get into med school no matter your undergrad major, so why is nursing different? Hopefully that made sense

A: Tip- if you want to get into nursing you could always do an accelerated bachelors in nursing program. They take 12-16 months depending on the university. Then you can go off to get your masters. The masters in nursing program requires that you have the experience from all of the clinical's that are in the bachelors program.. A lot of masters in nursing programs are strictly on-line.. So very important that you have already received your bachelors- since you can't really gain clinical skills on the web.. As far as just taking the MCAT's and getting into medical school.. Yes that is possible with med school.. Many med students go into a pre-med program though.. With their degrees- regardless of premed or not they normally focus on the classes in the required subject areas.

Q: Hi, I have always heard people talking about a masters degree program but I don't exactly know what it is...?
can someone help me clarify what you actually do to obtain your masters? :S Thanks!

A: First, you need a bachelors (4-year college) degree. In some fields (science, math, engineering) you need a bachelors degree in the same field you intend to do your masters; in others (arts, humanities, MBA, MLS) you can get a bachelors in any subject and enter that masters program. The masters is (typically) 2 more years of advanced coursework, sometimes also requiring a thesis and/or qualifying exams to earn.

Q: what would be a masters degree program for someone with a bachelors in cis who wants to work in biology or med
...or medicine. CIS = Computer Information System = programming and databases

A: medical school. it doesn't matter what undergraduate degree you got, once you want to get into med school, you start fresh. the only prerequisite is that you have a 4 year degree, take the MCAT, and your qualifications and acceptance will go from there. i must note that med schools are hard to get into, so show competitiveness in the amount of extracurricular activities you have done, as well as outstanding grades, and score high on your MCAT! good luck!

A: Call your local college and talk to a guidance counselor about this, they should be able to help you. Or you can call William & Mary here in Virginia, one of the best law schools in the country and ask them. 1.
