Q: What is the advantage of having a business administration degree as well as a business of management degree?
I've already recieved my business admin degree with my major in accounting...is it a good idea to take the extra yr to get a business management degree or will the major in accounting be sufficient enough alone?

A: Depends on what you want to do. Your B.S. in accountancy should be sufficent enough. Instead of taking an extra year to double in Management, you might as well check into B school and get your MBA. (Two year program).

Q: What would I be doing in the Peace Corps with my International Business Management Degree?
I want to go to the Peace Corps and it is said that if I go I will be working in my degree. Does anybody know what kind of work I will be doing as an International Business Management graduate?

A: You'd probably be working as a consultant / advisor / teacher to business people in a developing country. It wouldn't make sense to have you teach English in an upriver school. The first answer you got was remarkably foolish.

Q: Where is the best company for a FEMALE to work with a Bachelors of Business Administration Management degree?
Im a 23 year old African American female that Just graduated college in May of 2006, and now im trying to find a great Fortune 500 or Dow Jones company with great benefits and opportuniety to work for with my Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration Management. I need some advice quick and real advice, please help.

A: The Working Mother Magazine survey has just been updated, so I would definitely check that out. As an aside, I think that you should take some time to think about what you want to DO with your career and life. "Business Administration" is not a career, nor is it a proper goal. What motivates you? What gets you out of bed in the morning without an alarm clock? Investing the time to answer those questions will pay back big dividends down the road. Do you like talking with people and selling things? Try the big drug companies, like Pfizer or Astra-Zeneca. A personable, motivated college grad can earn $50,000+ right out of college. They hire a lot of women as well. If you are into finance or investing (and selling), you can join one of many financial advisor programs, such as Merrill Lynch or Edward Jones. Do you like marketing or product development? Try Procter and Gamble. They have a great college hiring system and promote from within. Capital One is also a great place to learn marketing. The company also has a strong effort to promote diversity in hiring. Do you like more operational type jobs? Try retailers like Target or Nordstrom. Just choosing "a great company with benefits" won't get you very far if you don't have an interest in what that company does. The book, "What color is Your Parachute" could help you with these issues as well.

Q: What kind of jobs can you get with an associates in business management degree?
I had started going for an accounting degree, but I had to leave that college and now the only degree's that I can find with the colleges around me are business management....what kind of jobs can you get that are decent with this kind of degree?

A: 1.) Retail Management 2.) B2B or (more likely) B2C sales 3.) Administrative Assitant With so many people getting Bachelor's degrees, the jobs listed above are the most likely avenues to end up in. That doesn't mean that they're the only place you can go though. If you have a specific career dream, try working it part time, doing an internship, or freelancing in it after hours. A lot of times, it's not the degree but who and what you know. Good luck.

Q: Are there lucrative jobs prospects for Management degree holder?
I have a bachelor's degree in English and I'm looking into a master's degree in Management. I'm not quite sure if this is a lucrative field though...with the economy hiccupping and all...will this area ensure financial security? I'm just saying.... Moneymaker, thanks fro responding, but I'm not sure what you mean... explain pls.

A: You are rewarded in the management field by your ability to produce results. A good education doesn't hurt. A master's degree is impressive, especially when you're just starting out and don't have job experience. But once you get the job, only your results will determine how lucrative the field is for you. Once you're hired, nobody cares about your education; only "what can yo do for me today". Either you're a strong leader and critical thinker or you aren't. It's much easier to get a degree in school than to be a financial success in the job force.

Q: Can I be a HR manager with a business management degree?
I am currently enrolled at a community college and I need to find a school by next year. I want to be a human resource manager so I am majoring on business adminstration. There are very few schools to choose from that actually offer a human resource program but there are a lot of schools that offer business management. Can I become and HR manager with that degree? And is a Business Management degree the same as a Business Administration degree?

A: Do the business degree then a Masters in HRM eg http://business.fiu.edu/chapman/master_of_science_in_hrm.cfm You will get a higher starting salary and have better career prospects. Use the money you saved by going to a CC first to pay for it. In fact admission to such programs requires a degree in anything. So suit yourself about what you study. That is one of the advantages of doing a Masters - your undergrad is often more liberal. Thanks Bill

Q: What can you do with a Business Management degree.?
I am thinking about changing my major to Business Management... I already have tons of management experience, but I can get higher paying jobs if I have a degree. Anyone a business management major? Any advice or comments...

A: That's my major, and you are right...you'll earn more with a degree in it. For you, already having managerial experience is a huge plus. That combined with your degree, you should have no problem finding a management position. As for what kind of jobs are out there for management majors, there are tons of them! That's the biggest reason I chose this as my major. I would either like to go into hotel management or open my own business, not quite sure yet! But good luck in whatever you decide to do!!! Here's a website that lists some jobs you get with this degree.

Q: What masters can I do with a Tourism Management Degree?
I want to change my subject completly but I dont know exactly what I want to do...I was interested in Psychology but it seems impossible to study anything like this with a Tourism Management degree...any ideas?

A: If your interests lie with psychology there are a few courses out there that offer psychology at masters level to graduates of other subjects - See for instance: http://ioewebserver.ioe.ac.uk/ioe/cms/get.asp?cid=882&882_1=830&var1=4&var2=GCP Such a course would provide you with ‘GBR’, which is a necessary requirement should you wish to pursue further postgraduate training in an area of psychology. For more information see the BPS website: http://www.bps.org.uk/careers/careers_home.cfm A counselling qualification at masters level might also be something to consider, many courses accept a second class (and above) honours degree in any subject (e.g. http://www.bbk.ac.uk/psyc/prospective/pgtaught/msc_psychodynamic_counselling/#entry ), however they may also expect you to have completed an ‘introductory counselling course’ and have some other ‘relevant’ experience. Such foundation/intro courses can be found at http://www.hotcourses.com For more info and accredited courses see BACP website: http://www.bacp.co.uk/education/training.html For ideas more closely related to your degree see: http://www.prospects.ac.uk/cms/ShowPage/Home_page/Options_with_your_subject/Your_degree_in_travel_and_tourism/Your_skills/p!eFjpgeL

Q: How will I make use of a Marketing/Management degree if there are so much competition out there?
Because there are so many people out there that are majoring either in Marketing or Management, it's so hard to stand out or differentiate yourself from others. The worst part is that there aren't any reassurance that you'll get the job you want after you get your degree. Now it's either you stand out or let them eat you alive. Is it true that people with a Management degree have more of a variety of jobs to choose from and are more flexible because it's a broad field, and people with a Marketing degree are stuck with jobs only pertaining to the Marketing field and are less flexible? At first I wanted to major in IT, but then I felt like my chances of breaking into that industry is very slim because of comments about a lot of jobs being offshored and plus I'm very much a beginner, which makes me ignorant about the industry. Today companies look for IT people with a lot of experience with computers, which I certainly don't have. I'm confused about whether I should major in Mktg or Mgmt.

A: hello there buddy... i see that you are having a hard time in choosing what degree to choose so that after you graduate you will have a job, the answer there is simple, in choosing the degree that you want, know first what you want, try to examine yourself first, try to ask open ended questions like where am i good at? do i like doing this? am i satisfied with what i am doing? before you come up with a decision, this questions surely helps... I have been working for a year now and to tell you honestly, its not "landing a job" that you should think, but "what would be your career goals" after you land a job, if you are thinking of my first predicament, well we working here in a company thinks on what will happen on our careers, we often asking ourselves "am i going to do this stuff for the rest of my life?" Having a job is only a objective but it is not your main goal... try to re-focus your concerns.... I can see that you will have a good career in any field that you want as long you are dedicated, committed, discipline and hardwork...Good Luck and Best Wishes pal!

Q: Is having a management degree really needed for IT industry?
I am a software engineer. Can anyone justify me the need for a management degree for career growth. None of the icons in this industry are having any management degree. Also people who pursue ca management course after some experience in IT industry, go for other career lines, say finance or marketing after the course. So the question is, is it necessary or just craze everyone having now a days??

A: Not really. You need at least a bachelor's degree to move up and to get promotions and raises.

Q: can I earn a living with a degree of business management in the US?
what type of job will I land to if I'm a college graduate from another country and migrated to the USA. i earned a business management degree and I'm afraid that i wont be able to survive in the USA with such degree.

A: Yes.......The USA is the land of opportunity.

Q: Once I have my management degree, what should I specialize in?
I am a management major and I know that it is good to specialize in a certain area to have a better chance of getting job, but how do I go about specializing in something? What areas are there to get specialized in? I just don't want to graduate with a degree in management and be able to do nothing with it.

A: I think you should help people who have small businesse b/c a lot of them simply took a course or two and some haven't even done that. you should be like an adviser cause some people own businesses and such, don't know what they're doing can't manage employees don't know anything about thier books and can't tell if they'r making or loosing money i'm sure you'd come in handy

Q: Does anyone have experience/advice regarding a Tourism Management degree?
Hi there. I’m a mature student and I’m considering taking a Tourism Management degree. Does anyone have any advice on where this degree is likely to take me, career wise? Ideally I would love to work for a high-market travel consultant. Thanks for your time.

A: Tourism Management can take you many places (me, I now work as an Admissions Officer for a subject I once studied!) but others on my course went to do a variety of things, starting their own travel company (high and wild) which is now very successful. Most work for a travel company in their head offices, a few in travel agents as managers, a couple more as regional travel agent managers. Then there are a couple like me, police, army and teacher of tourism at GCSE and A-Level. The possibilities are endless!

Q: Which is better to get a degree in; hospitatlity management or just business management? ?
I would like to work in a hotel or other resort but have been told there are more job opportunities with just a business management degree? Any advice?

A: Why don't you do a major Hospitality Management with a minor in Business Management.
