Q: Is it bad to go to the same school for your bachelor's and graduate degrees?
I've heard that it looks bad for one to go to the same college or university for their graduate degree from which their bachelor's degree. Is this true in most cases or does this only matter for people who are going for Ph.D's and trying to be professors? If this is true, why so?

A: I have personally been discouraged from completing graduate work at the college that I earned my Bachelor's at. Regardless of how qualified you are, you're working with the same professors and aren't leaving your comfort zone. It would behoove you to try to gain admission to a new university for grad school, and if nothing else it's a challenge!

Q: Are there any graduate degrees one can get if they don't have a bachelor's degree in the same area?
I have an undergraduate and graduate degree in Education.

A: you're going to have to do some research on the degree that you want to obtain. for the most part if it is not a specialized degree like a med degree or engineering you should be ok. you can get just about any business masters without having a business undergrad and i would think there are plenty of others. just start looking up requirements.

Q: are graduate degrees from one state accepted in the other?
cause i have heard that in canada, they do not accept degrees from other provinces when you are applying for job. is it the same in america?

A: Yes they are if the university is accredited.

Q: What is the difference between Undergraduate and Graduate degrees?
Detailed answers will be appreciated

A: Graduate A person who has received a degree from a school (High school or College or University) Undergraduate An undergraduate is a person seeking a bachelor's degree but has not yet completed enough courses to be awarded the degree. Also.. Undergraduate courses include Associate degrees, Advanced Diplomas, Diplomas and Certificate IV. Diplomas generally require two years full-time study and Certificate IV courses generally require one-year full-time study and can be (but not always) the first year qualification of a Diploma. And if u want to know what's Postgraduate then it is Someone who has a bachelor's degree and is taking courses to obtain a master's degree or a Ph.D degree. Postgraduate courses are higher degrees and diplomas designed for those who already hold a degree or diploma. Hope this helps :)

Q: How is the points system used to classify under graduate degrees in UK universities?

A: This can vary from uni to uni. At my uni: 70% and over = First class 60-69%= Upper Second 50-59%= Lower Second 40-49%=Third class. This is only valid at the end of the three years, as the final mark is worked out from all the marks in your second and third year, though the two lowest scored are dropped from the calculations. You will need to check with your own uni exactly how they work things out.

Q: What schools offer graduate degrees in anthropology and animal behavior?
I'm looking for a list of schools that offer an anthropology and animal behavior master's degree and Ph.D. program.

A: Pretty much any state school and private school will offer a PhD in Anthropology. Berkley is an excellent anthropology school, as well as Emory. Animal behavior is a bit specialized, so you will probably need to check with 3 different departments at each school you are looking at to find what you want: -Biology department -Neuroscience department -Psychology department It's crazy. I applied for a mix of Neuroscience and Physiology PhD programs, and about a third of the Neuroscience programs were run out of the Psychology department, and another third were part of the Biology department; the last 3rd had a completely seperate Neuroscience department. For you, you will most likely want to start at the Psychology department--because it IS behavior oriented, what you are looking for. As for a specific list of programs, check on gradschools.com . That's how I got started on looking for programs. You can also search the NIH website to see the top ranked programs.

Q: Immigrants with college and graduate degrees?
why is the percentage of African immigrants with college and graduate degrees higher than whites and Asians?? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Africans_in_the_United_States#_ref-5 I see! Why is it, really? That no one is going to agree, we all trying to come up with different excuses of why this is! I also came up with the same excuses as yours! But I was like , wait, maybe they are doing good. Why don't I just accept it!

A: This is just a guess but probably most (not all) white and asian countries economies offer more oppotunity for educated residents to make a decent living and have less civil strife so they have less reason to immigrate. While african countries are in trouble economicly due to the civil unrest there like I said this is just a guess

Q: Is it worth getting graduate degrees ?
It seems today the more education (graduate school) and the more money you make the harder you work. Is this because globalization like other social and economic fads isn't working ? Is it because these people have to prove they are worth this money ? Is it worth it getting graduate degree in engineering, law, science and medicine when fundamental research really is not being done on such a large scale any more ? Does globalization work or has it failed (I think it is a failure -- lower standard of living for us, and exploitation of others). Your thoughts, comments, insights are welcome !

A: According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, not only do Master's degree holders earn more money on average, but Master's degree holders also have a lower unemployment rate. In 2006, people with just a highschool diploma had an unemployment rate of 4.3%. People who have a bachelor's degree have an unemployment rate of 2.3%. People with a Master's degree had an unemployment rate of 1.7%.
