Q: How can the master and doctorate degree to help me?
I just need the Bachelor degree for can to study in a university, BUT how can the master o doctorate degree to help me in a furure? Thanks

A: Depends on what you are studying and what you want to go into. A Bachelor's degree is fast becoming what a high school diploma used to be. You know how it used to be that you just needed a high school diploma and that was good, then you needed a bachelor's for career advancement. Well now a lot of careers want advanced degrees - especially like in law, or teaching, engineering. If you want to be in clerical, then a bachelor's degree should suffice, or office management.

Q: Is there an online Doctorate Art History degree that combines practical and theory stuff?
Hello, Im looking for a University where I could study an online Doctorate degree in Art History, Im very interested if the program could be practical combined with theory and online. I studied BFA in graphic design, and I also have already a MFA. I would really appreciate if you could list some Univerisities or some websites . Thank you.

A: I don't think this exists. And it occurred to me the someone with a BFA and MFA should have access to information about graduate degree programs, including PhD programs, at their fingertips . . . or be better equipped to find it. Just sayin' . . .

Q: Are there any famous people who earned masters or doctorate degrees without a bachelors degree or diploma?
A coworker asked me if I'd ever heard of someone remarkable and well-known who somehow got a masters or doctorate without a high school diploma or a bachelor's degree. Now, I know that Jane Goodall got a doctorate without a bachelors, but that's the only one I know. Any others?

A: A lot of celebrities are awarded honorary doctorates. Also, veterinary students often do not have bachelor's degrees but during vet school or after vet school pursue dual degrees and actually earn a masters and/or a PhD without ever completing a bachelor's degree

Q: Is a doctorate degree only for doctors?
I need to know if a doctorate degree is for doctors only. Do astronomers have doctorate degrees?

A: Yes, they are called PhDs. You can find a PhD in just about any field. There are also PsyDs or something like that for psychiatry. EdDs for educational doctorates. I'm sure there are others.

Q: Can anybody suggest the cheapest online doctorate degree available?
I do not mean some scam school... I mean legitimate studying and research. I understand that quality will be an issue but all I want is a ballpark figure for doctorate degrees in business and finance? Assume 4 to 5 years studying (all-in). Thanks! There are legitimate online doctorate degrees available. Search the internet and you could come up with schools such as University of Pheonix, Swiss Management Center, Manchester Business School, etc. All I need is some advice on the total cost of the degree! Thanks!

A: Capella and American University for starters. You can also try to look for a traditional local university.

Q: Advantages of an Occupational therapy doctorate degree?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of a doctorate degree in OT?

A: I think OT will go the way of PT just as they did with the masters degree. There is a lot of information to cram into a 2 year graduate degree. OT as in PT needs to learn more and more information such as evidence based medicine. DPT graduates are more prepared with more clinical time than an MPT. OTD will be the degree of the future. Unfortanely the salaries have not improved with the degree but I think they will

Q: What kind of doctorate degree can a medical technologist go for?
They don't offer a doctorate in medical technology. But is there a Ph.D in a similar field? Some type of laboratory science?

A: That's a very good question. I don't have an answer, but if you happen to find one, please let me know. My girlfriend is starting medical technology school this summer, and she has talked about further advancement but she, too, is unsure of the possibilities.

Q: How many years do i have to go to school to get my doctorate's degree in physical therapy at UCONN?
I want to get my doctorate's degree in physical therapy at the University of Connecticut. How many total years of schooling will i have to go through?

A: UConn program is a 3 year program after a BS degree per their website. (7 years total). It is an extremely competitive program. It say they only admit 28 students per year. http://www.education.uconn.edu/departments/pt/Programs.cfm http://www.apta.org/AM/Template.cfm?section=PT_Programs&template=/aptaapps/accreditedschools/acc_schools_map.cfm&process=2&ProgramID=1372 You can shorten this process to 6 years by attending a 3+3 program. Below is a list of all schools in the US accredited to offer Physical Therapy http://www.apta.org/AM/Template.cfm?section=PT_Programs&template=/aptaapps/accreditedschools/acc_schools_map.cfm&process=3&type=PT

Q: What does it mean when someone receives an honorary doctorate degree?
Does that mean they didn't go to the school and the school just gave them the degree? I am confused!

A: It means they didn't do the actual classwork but the university is acknowledging their contribution to the field of study or to humanity in general.

Q: Can you get a doctorate degree for culinary?
I want to be a chef and i was wondering how far you could go in college for a cheff. and if so how much would you make with a doctorate degree? What is the best culinary school. I think i want to be an italian chef

A: The Hotel and Restaurant school at Cornell offers PhDs. I have a friend who got her PhD there. She did her dissertation on Beer. I'm sure that other schools also offer PhDs in that field. It wouldn't be just for cooking, though. To get a PhD, you have to do real research.

Q: Why is it required that one needs at least a doctorate degree to teach at a big university?
For example, to become a math professor or other professor at a big university, it is required to have at least a Ph.D. (e.g. University of California campuses) I never heard of someone with just a bachelor's degree to teach at a college campus or university.

A: The degree required to teach a course is directly related to the level of the course being taught. A PhD is required at the big universities because those universities teach PhD and master's students. The minimum requirement for teaching at a 4-year college in the academic courses is a master's degree in the subject or a master's degree with 18 graduate hours in the subject. That's the minimum and most colleges don't hire the minimally qualified. Getting a full-time position with tenure almost always requires the PhD (or other terminal degree). There are some teaching positions that don't require a degree at all - provided you are a very well recognized expert in your field. We see this sometimes in music and studio art. It's not very common for such an expert to not have a degree but it's not the degree that gets them the job. These are often called 'artist in residence'. At the community and technical college level, there are varying levels of courses being taught. While many are the transfer level courses (that have the same minimum teaching requirements as those at a 4-year college), many others are vocational/technical courses. The Vo/Tech courses don't require a master's degree. They require whatever it is that industry usually expects and a little more. For example, nobody has a master's degree in carpentry. Instructors of carpentry would not need a master's in the field but would need considerable expertise and experience. Most would require a bachelor's degree too but many might not. Another example would be cosmetology - cosmetology instructors have their own certification level and not a master's degree. It is mostly the level of the course that determines what is required of the instructor and not the level of the college. But, most colleges are organized by level. Someone with a bachelor's degree and expertise in a Vo/Tech field could teach at the community college level at the Vo/Tech level. They'd not (usually) be able to teach at the 4-year level in academic courses. Notice too that it's not just "has a PhD" to teach. The PhD must be in the same field or a related field. A HS English teacher with a PhD in Secondary Education would not be qualified (based on that PhD) to teach college English. He'd be qualified to teach Secondary Education courses. Oddly, as it may seem, a college professor with a PhD in Physics isn't qualified to teach HS Physics in most states - he'd need to go and get a secondary teaching certificate and take some courses in education.

Q: Can you have a doctorate's degree in the culinary arts, baking, pastry, cake decor, mixology, and chocolate?
what i mean is can you go to like a culinary college or university for 10 years(which is a doctorate's degree) and get a degree on these six subjects, taking them all at the same time. can you do that or not?

A: to my knowledge a culinary doctorate's degree is not available; however, there is a very rigorous program to earn the coveted title of master chef.
