Q: I want to get a doctoral degree in roman and greek mythology.?
does anyone know if there is a college that offers that as a course or anything? Or if there is a way to get a doctoral degree in something that one of its main Focus's would be roman and greek mythologies
A: The Department of Classics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill! You can study ,...ancient civilizations of Greece and Rome, their languages, literature's, history, art, and archeology, have flourished at the University of North Carolina since its founding in 1793. Internationally known for its scholarship and interdisciplinary strength, the Department of Classics is deeply committed to undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, and graduate education and offers a wide variety of courses, majors, and degrees, which present a variety of perspectives on and approaches to the ancient world.
Q: Do you know the career path for doctoral degree holder (business degree) besides being a professor?
I am interested in pursuing the doctoral degree in marketing and I would like to know the career opportunities in south east Asia or in general.
A: Ph.D. in Marketing is primarily designed for professors, but it is becoming increasingly popular in Market Research, if you do focus in that field.
I don't have any info about SE Asia, but this is a general answer.
Q: What can you do with a doctoral degree (Ph.D) in psychology?
What other options/fields are open to psychologists with a doctoral degree other than being an experimental psychologist?
Are there any similar careers like the experimental psychologist that don't involve therapy/counseling and diagnosing people with stuff?
A: What fields available to anyone with a PhD in psych is going to depend on where you are. I know that where I live, the best there is would be working in research for the government (State or Federal, though Federal pays more). I'm assuming by "experimental psychologist" you're referring to research in psychology, as experimental psychology was wiped out during the rise of Watson's behaviourism.
Clinical and research will be the two big areas there are, regardless of location, with teaching coming in behind them. The only real difference location will give is who would be employing you, and who's competing with them that may be able to pay more or give better benefits.
The research part will depend on which area of psychology you're in (cognitive, behavioural, psychoanalytic). Cognitive psych research will require more knowledge of biology, behavioural will be observing behaviours, and psychoanalytic would require some neurological knowledge, and a lot on understanding of Freud's theories.

Q: what is the best state collage to get a doctoral degree or at least a masters?
i want to become a teacher but i want to start a school and run the whole thing so i need the best school in the united states to get a great teaghing degree
A: Unless you have a lot of funding you are not going to start or run an entire school right out of Grad school. Also, in most states you must teach several years before you can be a scholl administrator.
With that said, for teaching almost any stae school is just fine, even at the advanced degree levels. I have A PhD from a small Private University, but it is just as good as one from Harvard.
It is also better to get your degree from different schools. Shows diversity in learning. I have one Masters and am working on another, none of my degrees are from the same school.
For education degrees, OU (Oklahoma) is as good as they come for a state supported University. Texas A &M is too.
I am also rather partial to Kansas State and I think Auburn University in Alabama is a fine school. All of those have great Grad schools too.
there are many other good ones.
Q: What I want become an anesthesiologist with a doctoral degree, what is a good college in Arkansas to attend???
I'm a freshman in high school now.
A: What eri said, plus a clarification.
There is no such thing as a pre-med major. You have to major in something else. There are certain science courses that you'll need to take in college, and your academic advisor in college can help you with that.
Any accredited 4 yr college is fine before medical school. You get out of an education what you put into it.
Good luck.
Q: What was Martin Luther King Jnr.'s area of expertise at Boston Uni when he was getting his doctoral degree?
for some homework, so quick help would be great!
A: http://nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/peace/laureates/1964/king-bio.html
Q: What is the difference between a Doctoral and Doctorate Degree?
On what qualification a student is entitled to use the letter DR.
Thanks
A: With any of the degrees with a "d," PhD, MD, DDS, DVM, etc.
There's no difference between doctoral and doctorate except that one's an adjective and the other's a noun.
Q: in total how many years of college for psychology up to doctoral degree?
and what all does it involve?
thanks in advance
i meant..
im majoring in psych. i want to be educated up to my doctoral degree in psych. and i wanted to know how many years of college in total it is going to take. and also any addition information on psych majors you can give me.
thanks
A: It depends on what field of psychology you want. experimental? clinical? industrial? social?
Generally it's 4 years of undegraduate college, and 6 years of Phd which totals up to 10 years. Phd programs in psychology are EXTREMELY competetive though. You have to be really good at it if you want to get in grad school. I know many many students who thought they were good at it but they couldn't make it to grad school because most phd programs have acceptance rates of 5-6%. You have to graduate from college with a GPA of 3.7 out of 4.0 if you want to have a shot. Many people regret choosing a psych major because you can't do anything with it unless you have a phd and it's so hard to get into phd programs. My advice to you is to think about it really well and make your decision after thinking about it deeply.
Q: Where can I find a masters degree program that's not tied into a doctoral program?
I'm graduating with a degree in Anthropology I was looking into Brown and U of Chicago because I know they have a strong department in Egyptology but their graduate program is tied to their doctoral and right now I'm just interested in a masters degree. Thanks
*I posted this earlier in Anthropology but didn't get a response.
A: You could always just enter the doctorate program and leave after completing the masters. Many students do this, either having planned it ahead of time or deciding to stop after the masters. Don't go to a second-rate program if you could do this instead.
Q: Can self-published books enhance your application for a doctoral degree?
I am referring to a PhD in Communication/Humanities/Arts.
A: this is a tricky issue. any experience in the research/publishing area is helpful, but why can't you get it published in peer-reviewed journal? that would be ideal. doing the self-published thing seems like quite a lot of effort and im not really sure how much they will pay attention to it if it wants reviewed in the academic community. you really should go with a journal article.
