Q: What career paths do you take with an INTERNET SERVICES TECHNOLOGY degree?
I've been looking at some computer courses at my local college and stumbled upon INTERNET SERVICES TECHNOLOGY. It seems interesting to me but I don't know much about it or what direction one takes with this kind of degree. Can anyone shed some light on this area for me please?
A: That depends on what courses you're taught there, and also on what your graduation diploma says.
Q: Do you think I can become a professor with a Bachelor of Science in Business-Information Technology degree?
In my state I have seen job posting to become a professor with a Bachelor's degree and at one college they posted a position to be a professor with an Associate degree, so for those with experience do you think that I can become a college professor when I receive my Bachelor's of Science in Business-Information Technology in December 2010. Yes or No? Only answer if you know for a fact!
A: It depends on the subject, and sometimes the school. For instance, you can teach some low-level Comm and English classes with a Bachelor's, but history requires a Masters, and Anthropology requires a PhD.
My guess is that, with your degree, you might be able to teach in a trade program, instructing students who are trying to earn an Associates in your area of expertise.
Q: Is a technology-related degree necessary to begin a career in IT?
I graduated recently with bachelor's degrees in business and economics. If I want to get into an IT field, will I have to go back to school and get another degree?
Also, even if a technology-related degree isn't required to begin an IT career, is it important to have in order to advance in that career field?
Thanks!
A: No.
perhaps
sometimes.
good questions but not easy to answer.
With your "bachelor's degrees in business and economics"
you can easily become or work toward a manager position in the IT field.
If you want to "work" the IT field of nuts and bolts it would be prudent to work on a Cert for the field you want. Often you can do this while working for an IT company.
Yes a "technology-related degree" will help because degrees do not expire while Certs always do and need to be renewed all the time for the specific vendors althought there are many CompT types that are lifetime. Again you can work on this while working at a IT company.
I worked for 25 years with an AS in the tech field and just 2 years ago finished my BS in Computer Science. Over the years I have earned many Certs and a lot of them have expired. As I move around in the IT field I need certain training and others I let expire. (Hey I can only read tech books for 3 or 4 hours a day, I am not Scotty on Star Trek)
Q: What jobs can you get with a graphic arts technology degree??
Does anyone know if you can really get a job with a graphic arts technology degree (associates). I don't want to do something boring.. thanks
A: You can work in advertising, magazines, newspapers- art for the web. Also use it to get your foot in the door at places like movie studios and such- alot of competition so maybe try a intership somewhere. I even noticed that they advertise on myspace things like that-I've been a fine artist for 7 years and a mural artist for 22 years (nice to be home in my own studio) my 2 Yr graphics degree is arcaic now, my design degree and my BFA in fine art helped more, things change so fast! Im a wiz bang at my own computer now though. There are huge job markets for versital people who are willing to go the extra mile. WAlk up and ask- thats how I got my first jobs. I did everything in college from photography studio work to painting names on boats in the OC and drawing portraits in the lobby of a bar. Of course your road leads down a different path but drive and desire will get you there. Check out the Artists and graphic designers source book in the ref. section in your bookstore----about 24.00. Good luck!
Q: What jobs are available with a degree in Educational Technology?
I have a degree in Educational Technology and can you believe that it's been one year since I graduated college and I still don't have a job. I mean like I have a "let's get the bills paid job" but not a job that I want. Can someone just tell me what jobs are available other than teaching and curriculum. Like banks, designs, IT and others,
A: First thing I thought when I heard what your major was is a computer science teacher at a high school. Could you do something like that, with necessary teaching certifications of course? Sorry to sound naive about your major, but try to broaden your horizons looking for jobs related to that.

Q: What careers can you get with an Associate's Degree in Information Technology?
I am considering getting an assciate's degree in IT but there are several to choose from? What do they all mean and what type of job could I get? There are
Networking and Security Technologies
Computer Programming
Information technology in Business
Networking Security Technology-Security Option.
Does anyone out there in the World Wide Web have any experience and can share what each of these focuses on IT are? Or what type of career they would lead to?
A: You could get a job as a junior systems or network administrator or technical support. You might be able to get a programming or QA job if you excel in computer programming, but you'll likely do better in that with a bachelors.

Q: What can I do with a Computer Information Technology degree?
I enjoy computers, and I am trying to figure out what field to get into. I would LOVE to be computer teacher. Will a degree in Computer IT allow me to do this? If not, what can I do with it? Thanks!
A: If you will pursue an IT course you can end up into different IT professional work like:
System Administrators
Programmers
IT Staff
IT Instructor

and lot more...
I am a Senior Technical Support because I finished a 2 Year Computer Hardware Specialist course. :-)
Q: what jobs can you apply for with an associates degree in surgical technology besides being a surg tech?
I have my associates degree specializing in surgical technology but it's not so easy finding open positions for this particular field. I just wanted to know if you could do other jobs with a surgical technician degree or can you only work in the hospital or clinics as a surgical technician or central sterile technician.
A: You are somewhat limited to surgical technology, since it is such a specific degree. Try looking in another area of the country if that is an option. You may be able to find work in a front office that deals with scheduling patients for surgery, but they may or may not want front office experience.
Another option would be to get additional certification in office technology, EMT, or CNA. These jobs would pay much less, but consider it temporary. It could open doors and you could get a surg-tech later. Your experience and knowledge of medical procedures and terminology gained in getting degree would help you a lot in these temporary careers.
Q: Good city to live in with a Information Systems Technology degree?
WHat cities have a good job market for a person with my degree? I am considering NYC for family reasons. Any further suggestions? I know it is expensive up there so plz don't tell me anything I already know. Thanks!
A: like most fields, IT demand is higer where there is robust population growth, which is not in the northeast, although the large business centers there offset that somewhat for IT. My advice to is search the job sites using the search option for x miles from NYC and see what comes up. Job experience will be a huge factor.
Q: Can I become a licensed PE with an engineering technology degree?
I am currently a mechanical engineering technology student in Tennessee. I know that in this state I can't take the PE, but what states can I take it in? After I take it would other states uphold the PE?
A: I have a Civil Engineering Technology degree and in CT and MA
you can take the PE exam but you need eight years of experience
in stead of the standard 4 years. You still have to pass the FE exam first.
Civil P.E.
