Q: What colleges offer the 5 year degree program for Occupational Therapy?
I am really confused. I am going to be at a community college this summer to get my Associates of Arts and Sciences degree. Where can I find a list of schools that offer Occupational Therapy as a major. It is a Masters degree correct? Will I be okay to transfer in from a two year college with a AA to a program?

A: Don't be confused, its really simple. What state do you plan on attending college at? i know here in Michigan there are 3 universities that offer the "2+3" MOT program, one of them is Wayne State University, where I currently am enrolled as a MOT student. http://www.aota.org/Students/Schools.aspx This is a link to the American Occupational Therapy Association, it has links to lists of accredited schools that offer the different length programs you are looking for. good luck!!

Q: May I apply to college in Canada if I have earlier discontinued a degree program in another country?
I'm a 30 y.o. from India. I did a degree course in medical science in Russia, which for various reasons did not complete. Since I came to India I have been working as a Medical Transcriptionist. I'm planning to apply for a certificate program in Medical Transcription in Canada. Would the college in Canada take the matter of my discontinued studies in Russia serious and reject my application? pls help.

A: This is something you should consult our embassy in India about, as I know for sure there are many professional people not working in their skill set because their accreditation's are not recognized here. I have had more than on cab ride from a qualified Indian doctor. Contact universities in Canada for more info before you make the move. I know Western university in London Ont., has an excellent medical program, you might want to contact MacMaster in Hamilton also.

Q: how hard is it to get in to this double degree program at university of waterloo?
i want to get in to this program at waterloo, the double degree(mathematics and business) for those who know, what average do u need, and how hard is it there?

A: I have a friend in the program who says about 90, apply with anything over an 80 and see what happens, Waterloo considers more than just marks. It's a very long program with lots of courses.

Q: Does University of Arizona clinical laboratory science degree program?
My boyfriend is going for his second degree in clinical laboratory science and ASU (Arizona state University) is doing budget cuts and that program MIGHT be one of them. We're looking at other colleges to see if they have the same degree, and if so does UofA have that degree program? Also if he goes to devry university is job placement going to be good for him the future?

A: DeVry is not accredited, to my knowledge...I wouldn't go there. Contact the school directly. They will be able to give you the details (they should know by now for next year's admissions).

Q: Which degree program is better to be marketable in Graphic Design/ Animation?
I would like to pursue degree in order to work as Animator. Which degree would be more marketable? A BFA in Studio Art with concentration in Graphic Design from Georgia State University OR a BFA in Animation from Savannah College of Art and Design? I have an excellent portfolio and have won some awards for my work. Just need the degree to back it up.

A: if you want to do animation and would like to get a job in the business, then get a degree in animation. ditto for graphics. suggest you even consider getting masters so you can teach if necessary to make yourself a living while waiting for your big break. do as much work for pay and enter contests throughout school. Be aware, for every classroom hour you spend in any art field, you will spend about 3 hours on projects outside the classroom... so plan your class schedule accordingly when you go to college. A lot of people do not realize that and enroll for too many labs and studio classes in the same semester, then stress out. with some concious planning, that can be avoided. the piece of paper (diploma) does not guarantee you will get a job in your desired field. depends on how much experience you have had and also how versatile, aggressive and competitive you are.- suggest you try to get a job part time doing in whichever field you want while you are going to school. even if it is as a mail room clerk in a firm that produces the kind of work you want to do. the person with something in his field on the resume (rather than flipping burgers or retail while you go to school) will be more likely to be given an opportunity later on. You will be amazed about what you will pick up just hanging around, and how much easier it will be to get the folks you are already working for to give you a boost up, mentor y ou and network for you - all key in today's very competitive workforce.

Q: Is it possible to find a degree program in the field of computing without a strong focus on mathematics?
I'm really interested in computing but the maths side of things puts me off a bit. Just wondering if there are any degree courses that perhaps focus more on utilisation rather than the maths side of things. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

A: COMPUTER and INFORMATION SCIENCE has many areas and no, it's really not necessary to be a MATH WHIZ but LOGIC is key and important bec you need to be able to successfully write and understand software programming and coding if you want decent pay bec somewhere along the lines your computer skills must be above average and be able to perform computer-related tasks <- far beyond simply sitting in front of monitor and typing on keyboard Maximum pay or even holding a IT job has to do with your technical skills and ability to be proficient at software programming and coding as a SOFTWARE DEVELOPER in several areas in particular OBJECT OREINTED PROGRAMMING, JAVA, DATAWAREHOUSING as well as the primary databases like ORACLE, MS SQL SERVER etc. Paying attention and getting your employer to pay for you to attend expensive hands-on IT training courses if you are able to master the these difficult skills may result in sitting for CERTIFICATION and if you are able to pass, then BIG BUCK$$ as well as more job opportunities....but if you are not able to be proficient at software programming, it does limit your advanceement bec you will not be able to pass technical interviews and make contributions in jobs that pay according to your technical software programming skills. Hope the Above Info Helps!

Q: what does it mean to be unmatriculated in a degree program in college?
There are two degrees listed online, one for a computer science degree and one for computer science unmatriculated. I don't know what that means.

A: That you will take classes without the expectation of graduation, a diploma, or formalized degree program.

Q: Are there any Universities in Los Angeles that offer a entertainment business degree program?
I've been considering Full sail university but would prefer to attend a college in L.A that offer the same kind of degree. Thanks in advance!

A: No, and there's a pretty good reason - the entertainment business, depending on what you do, is pretty much an industry that you get in on the ground level working as a grunt. What your degree is in matters less than your interest, what you know, and how hard you are willing to work for very little. If you're interested in getting into the industry, we assume, on the production, promotion and behind the scenes area, you'll probably do better to network, make contacts, and get some sort of an internship at a company that you would like to join in the future. That said, UCLA and USC do have pretty good film schools, if that's what you want to do. But remember, it's more about who you know than what you know.

Q: Is going from an English degree program to a Business admin program a good decision?
I'm a creative person, and enjoy my English major. However, through many courses I've taken through the military, I am far closer to the Bachelors in Business Administration. I'm wondering if I should make the change to BA to get my degree quicker, and therefore open up job opportunities quicker, although I probably would enjoy getting the English degree more.

A: While the English degree program may be more enjoyable, the Business degree will be much better when it comes time to look for a job. The number of jobs that call for an English degree are very limited, particularly if you don't live someplace like New York or L.A. A usiness degree can be useful in anything from a major corporation, to a small local company. If you really enjoy writing consider getting a minor in English. It may help you find a job in business that relies on your writing skills. Also, if you prefer creative writing, it is almost entirely freelance. So what will matter is your writing ability, not your degree. Consider, Michael Crichton, graduated from medical School, John Grisham was a lawyer, and Tom Clancy worked in in insurance. They obvious were not hindered in pursuing careers as writers.

Q: Looking for a college that offers a undergraduate degree program in Sports Management?
As part of my assignment I need to find a school with the undergraduate program and do some research. Then write an essay about whether or not I feel the courses prepare someone to enter into the work world with a position in Sports Management.

A: I've heard Michigan has a good program. Try googling for "sports management major" or "kinesiology major" and you'll get results from a lot of schools.

Q: Will graduating and beginning a higher degree program change the amount of stafford loans inbetween semesters?
I am a senior graduating with my Bachelor degree in December. Beginning January, I am changing schools and beginning a Master's program. As an undergraduate right now, I qualify for the standard undergraduate amount for a 4th year student (5,500 a semester) for this fall semester. Does anyone know if the amount of stafford loan I am eligible for will increase beginning next Spring semester when I start the graduate program? Or, will it stay the same as being an undergraduate because it is in the middle of the 07-08 Financial Aid year? I'm just trying to plan ahead early, any answers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

A: It will increase when you enter the graduate program. The current graduate annual loan limit is $8500 subsidized, $12000 unsubsidized. You are eligble for the difference between the loan amount used in the fall and $20,500, up to the cost of attendance for the spring semester. You will need to talk to your financial aid office before next semester so they can make the necessary adjustment for spring semester.

Q: Do you have to take required general education classes before any others in a degree program?
I am planning on going to school (community college) for graphic design, and am not sure whether I want to do the associates degree or the certificate, I've never been to college or anything so I am not sure if I can take pre-req classes at the same time as the core classes or if they all have to be taken before I can even get to the classes that pertain to the degree, so basically I am hoping I can start right away on a graphic design class in addition instead of all english and math, etc. for the whole 1st year..... Thanks everyone for your answers:)

A: depends on the degree. My degree is social work and I can take intro to social work during my freshman work while taking my gen. ed req. but I can't take any adv. sw courses.. I think you can do with with education too..there again..it depends on degree. most of your intro classes do not need pre reqs.. Certificate is 1 year and ass. is 2 so I would take what is req. for cert. first and then if you later decide to do ass..nothing lost but if you take courses for ass and then decide to only get cert. you have taken needless classes (not needless but you won't need them to grad.)..
