Q: Are you guaranteed a place when applying for foundation degree courses?
I have an interview 2moro, i'm just wondering have i got anything to worry about?

A: No, it's not guaranteed. That's why there's an interview. The university needs to have some idea about your suitability for the course. If you were as thick as two short planks, then I doubt you'd get a place. You're ultimately going to enrol on a course of study that will potentially provide you with a university degree. Are you choosing a subject in which you're likely to excel? The foundation course is a way of gauging your ability in this matter. But they'd expect some basic ability for the foundation course to start with. They don't want to waste their time, after all. I'm sorry, but that's reality. But if you have a reasonably good level of intelligence and you're enthusiastic, you're likely to get there. And remember, even though you call this a foundation degree, it's not a degree. It's merely a stepping stone on the way. Good luck.

Q: Will a psychology course get me to a psychiatrists degree through out courses?
I'm doing a research assignment on the career that I want to do. I have to find certain colleges that I could apply to for this career, but what comes up for all the ones I've looked at have been only psychology. So my question is, if it offers that course, do i take those classes and then move up to medical courses for the psychiatrists degree? Also, if you are in school for either or are in this career field, which college did you apply for and what do you think are good suggestions? thanks for all your help!

A: To become a psychiatrist, you need to be a medical doctor. To get into an M.D. program you need a Bachelors degree. To get into a medical school you need at the undergraduate level: 1 year of general chemistry (with lab), 1 year of physics (with lab), 1 year calculus, 1 year organic chemistry (with lab) and college English. This can be accomplished in 4 years, some take more others less, but rarely less. (nearly any major will do, but it can take longer to receive a degree in something non-science, but you could do psychology as well) Get admitted to medical school and attend: 4 years to receive M.D. (pass the boards) Residency: 4 years of on-the-job training (pass medical licensing exam) Basically, each piece is completely separate. For undergraduate any school will suffice. If it is an Ivy League school it can be easier to get into good programs. The same goes for medical school. I could list a lot of different good programs but that can easily be found with a google search. Good luck.

Q: Why do Oxford and Cambridge NOT offer undergraduate or graduate Accountancy and Finance degree courses?
Guidance: 1. Is it there to do with issue regarding to the long history of UK universities? 2. Is it there to do with the issue of the rich and strong traditions of UK ancient universities? 3. Or is it there to do with the issue about different field, discipline and course structure available in the golden triangle of the British research institutions, i.e. based in Oxford, Cambridge and London? I genuinely need this information for a better informed decision-making on my application for my research study. Thank you.

A: Actually Oxford does offer a masters in financial economics administered from the Said Business School see http://www.sbs.ox.ac.uk/MFE/ In addition an accountancy option is available as a management option for Economics and Management students at undergrad level. There is also a finance paper option (so one exam out of 8 final exams) for all economics students (so it is available for Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE), E&M, and Engineering, Economics and Management (EEM)). These still tend to be more academically focused (finance particularly) rather than vocational training. From what my E&M friends tell me the accountancy course is much more about the theoretical purpose and role of accountancy rather than learning how to book keep. The options are meant to complement study in the wider field, i.e. economics rather than focus heavily on vocational training as Oxford is after all an academic insitution. Full accountancy training (such as studying for an ACA) is provided in most cases by an accountancy firm that you join and they don't particularly care whether anyone has studied it before. I'm afraid I don't really have any experience of Cambridge so my answer is Oxford heavy.

Q: What exactly is a minor and do you have to complete all the courses for the degree?
What exactly is a minor and do you have to complete all the courses for the degree? I was thinking of minoring in anthropology but I really dont want to take a language again so can you still minor in something without taking all the courses?

A: Taking all the courses would make it a "major". To minor in something, there is a shorter list of required classes. Go find that out and finish those classes and you've got your minor. In other words, it depends what the list says.

Q: Are there any degree courses which combine ECONOMICS and COMPUTER SCIENCE?
I love these two subjects in college but dont want to drop either of them in Uni. are there such courses. cheers

A: It's called econometrics -- all about econ, stats, and computer science. Also known as management informatics. An awesome field that is just now growing. It seems that businesses are starting to want people who can not only crunch some numbers and apply some theories but they also went them to make business decisions about those numbers. It's one thing to be able to say "and production is down 3.2% compared to this time last year" but a whole 'nother thing to be able to add "so what we need to do is......."

Q: What are the ideal university degree courses to be come a talent agent?

A: University degree to become a talent agent ? you must be an American, it could only be there.

Q: Are there scholarships for postgraduate degree courses by distance learning?

A: to get any funding for post graduate ( other than loans) is very hard, but it would be necessary to find out what your degree was in, it might be easier if your working in the field already and wanting to now get a higher degree, If you are a teacher and want a Masters then Your job may help you. but at your level ( from my personal experience) the only help you can get is loans or to get it thru your job. so good luck, i hope you find others, i did not, and had huge loan by the time i was done, ]] good luck ;)

Q: can a person complete a degree from college taken night courses and weekend courses?
You a person complete a degree from a college taken night courses and weekend courses? Is there also night and weekend courses during the summer summer?

A: Yes you can, Plenty of people do, while yes it will take longer, you can get a degree. For a lot of people it's the only way they can do it. My mom is 1 class away from a degree in something business related, I don't remember what, and she did that all with night classes. Granted, she never went and took that class and it was 23 years ago but still, it is possible.
