bs degree
bs degree questions and answers

Q: WHat math classes did you have to take to get your BS degree in psychology?
i know an BA degree it require some language classes but a bs degree requires more and more math and science classes?
any one have a bs degree ?
can you tell me how many classes you took?
because you need college algebra and another math class for the core ,but for graduation what other classes?
MATH wise.
A: This varies from school to school, so my experiences will not be relevant to other colleges or universities. For instance, the university my son attends only requires foreign languages for people wanting a BA. Everyone else gets a BS - including my son, whose major is electronic media and film. Yes, you read that right! You can get a BS in English at his school! And, you do not need to do extra science or math classes either. My son took one semester of mat, and is taking two semesters of lab science. That is all the math and science he has to take.
So, what I am saying is, go to the website of the schools you are looking at, and see what the undergraduate distribution requirements are. That is the only way to know what applies exactly to where you might go.
Q: I am in school for teacher certification and already have a BS degree. How can I get a job right out of school
I am in school for teacher certification and already have a BS degree. I have worked in the corp. field for 10 years. How can I get a job right out of school without having to substitute teach? I am learning spanish right now and am bilingual in Russian. I also dont want to work as a para first and want a job teaching 3-5th grade.
A: Which state do you live in?
Here in California we have www.edjoin.org
But if you know where you want to teach, go to the school district, tell them your situation and ask them how to apply. Either they will give a website, or each city will have you apply through them via paperwork. Make sure that you get copies of all your certifications, and diplomas ahead of time, because you will most likely have to include those.
If there aren't any positions in that particular city, try the surrounding cities. Good luck!
Q: Would a BS degree in Paralegal Studies pay off?
I've been thinking alot about becoming a paralegal. I am currently in college and my school offers a BS program in Paralegal Studies. I understand that they are in high demand, kinda like nurses. How is the pay/benefits? Would this degree really pay off in the long run? I was thinking about possibly gaining employment as a corporate paralegal after graduation. Any info would be helpful!
A: Yes, it would pay off. While you are going to school, you should line up some clerkships in the field that you want to work in - that way, after you have graduated, you have contacts, experience, and may be able to get a job at one of the firms you clerked at.
Pay depends on experience and specialty. It also depends on location (city/state) where you intend to work in. Paralegals in CA make anywhere from $40 - 75,000. While you are in school, you may be able to make $15-20/hr (after you have obtained some experience).
Q: What's more desireable: One 4 year BS degree or Four AS degrees in a related field?
I'm considering my options in college and have found that, in less time than it would take to get my BS in Computer Science I can get four AS degrees in Informtation Technology focussing on Applications, Networking, Programming and Internet Technologies. Which would be more desirable to potential employers?
A: I would have to say, put in the time and get the 4 year degree (BS).
Since you are thinking about 4 AS degrees, I would assume you are looking become more of a Software Engineer than you are a Computer Scientist. There is a slight difference.
If you have your choice, look for a program that offers a BS in Software Engineering. Not that having a BS in Computer Science will prevent you from getting a job, but a BS in SE will focus more on the skills you seem to be looking for.
Would 4 AS degrees prevent me from hiring you? No, most likely not, but it would make me wonder why you didn't just go ahead and get a BS.
You will however find some job postings that require a 4 year degree, and the company will not even look at you if you don't have your BS (Computer Science or Software Engineering).
The important thing is to finish that degree. If you think you might have problems completing your BS (for whatever reason) you could always get your AS first, then look at going on to complete your BS. Just make sure a majority of your AS credits will count toward/transfer to your BS program.
Q: Will there be any advantage if I have a ECE BS degree when I join the Army?
Can I also study and get EE BS degree while I'm in the army. I want to know about the education programms that they have in the US ARMY regard with EE.
A: With a degree, you should really pursue a career as a commissioned officer. One of my peers is a SSG with a Master's in English and he regrets everyday he didn't go Green to Gold. You might want to look at the prerequisites for attending West Point.
Remember, if you join the military with a BS as enlisted, you will enter as an E-4. Generate a rapport with your recruiter and ask to speak with the station commander to grasp a concept of both enlisted and commissioned.
Good luck with your decision.
Q: I have a BS degree in Biology, i want to take up an MBA, how may i do that?
i finished a BS degree in Biology, im thinking of taking up a masters degree in business administration. Is this possible? or it is too difficult to achieve because of the difference of career fields? anyone with similar experiences here?
A: It is not too difficult to achieve and it would be a terrific combination. Most MBA programs prefer students with a variety of undergraduate degrees other than business. You would be in demand by companies that need managers who understand what the scientists are talking about. You can find the MBA program that best fits your needs in the Official MBA Guide, a free service.
Q: What other jobs are you qualified for with a BS degree in Elementary Ed.?
Trying to get ideas of other jobs that may be of interest to me and that I would be qualified to apply for with a BS degree in Elementary Ed, BESIDES being an Elementary Teacher. What else could I do? Where could I apply? What kind of jobs? Who could I contact...???
Thank you... Thank YOU
A: Science centers and hands-on museums.
Personal tutor either public or private
Q: Can I get into an MBA program with a BS degree in Information Technology?
I have a BS degree is Information Technology and I was wondering if I can get into the MBA program that specializes in Technology Management. Can I get into that program with a BS in IT degree? or do I have to have a business degree?
A: The answer to your question is yes you can get into the MBA program with your degree. Lawyers, medical doctors and nurses take advantage of the MBA to add depth the their existing credentials.
Things you should know:
You may not get as many foundation courses waived with your IT degree as would a Business major but some may align close enough that they will be considered on a waiver request. The downside is that you may have to spend and extra semester or two, completing foundation courses.
Entering the program in an accredited institution usually means taking the GMAT and the good universities look for a score above 600. Any score above 500 will probably qualify you. Your GMAT score is combined with 2*GPA*100 (US) and this is your basis for consideration. If your BS was from a university or college outside the US, your GPA would be converted to US standard and the same formula applied.
Congratulations on your choice to pursue an MBA and welcome to the world of lifetime learners.
Q: What can one actually do with a BS degree in physics?
I have read on college websites about possible careers, but I tend to believe that they say anything to try to get you to come there and study physics. So what can you actually do with the 4 year physics degree?
A: - aerospace engineer
- other engineer
- scientist for a company... you could, for example, analyze data from automobile test crashes and stuff like that.
- get a PhD and become a researcher or professor of physics at a university
- high school physics teacher
Do what my dad with his BS in Physics... go to business school, get an MBA, and start your own company! Haha. No, that's actually what he did...
Q: How Much Does a college student that just graduated with a BS degree makes?
I just want to know what I should be looking for. I'm working on a degree in Business Administration concentration in Management.
A: nothing im there at this point in life sucks....looking for a descent job with a degree is hard...
Q: Who knows if I can get a BS degree online (TESC, Excelsior or Charter Oak) if I already have a BA from a B&M?
If I already have a BA degree from a brick and mortar school, can I pursue a BS in Business from Excelsior, Charter Oak or TESC?
A: Charter Oak State College allows the earning of a second degree.
From their website: "Students who have received a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university may matriculate in Charter Oak State College to pursue a second bachelor’s degree."
You can read the details here:

Q: What is the difference between a BA and a BS degree wise?
I will be getting a degree in sociology and it will be a BA. I am worried how this will effect my job opportunities.
A: This won't affect anything. The difference between a BA and a BS is usually solely in the subject matter. A BA is a bachelor of arts, and a BS is a bachelor of science degree. You would never find a BA in Physics or Chemistry, nor a BS in Philosophy or History. In the case of the social sciences, psychology and sociology are occasionally offered in both forms (although rarely at one school, so it is really not seen as being the student's choic).
In theory, a BS is more of a scientific research degree, and may focus more on statistics, while a BA program may see it as a more qualitative degree. However, these decisions may have been made many decades ago when the department was founded, and the current faculty may be taking a very different approach (the degree is almost never changed once it is established). I've never heard of it making any difference, either with employers or graduate schools.
Q: Can you get a BS degree in another school in Nursing after you get an Associate degree in nursing?
If you get an Associate degree in a school in Houston for nursing, can you then go to another school of nursing that offers BS degrees in nursing and simply go another year or two to get it?
I should've said,
Can you get a BS degree in another school in Nursing after you get an Associate degree in nursing without starting all over?
A: After you get a 2-year degree in Nursing, you can earn a BSN in Nursing built upon what you have achieved. Let's say you go to City Community College and get an Associate's in Nursing or Nursing Tech. After that, you could go to, let's say, XYZ University and finish the last 2-3 years and earn your BSN.
