accredited degrees
accredited degrees questions and answers
More information about accredited degrees at Education News.
Q: Is the California Graduate University Legal University? and their degrees accredited?
I want to register for a distance learning in History for PhD
A: Looking at their website it looks suspiciously like a scam. There is no information about its accreditation status either.
Keep looking for regionally accredited universities/colleges. There are now many that offer whole degrees online.
Examples:
Charter Oak State College
Thomas Edison State College
Empire State Collage
Excelsior College
and many more and all of them regionally accredited which means that your degree is legitimate and will transfer to graduate school if that is where you want to go.
Learn more about accreditation here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accreditation so that you can learn to identify degree mills from the real thing.
Keep researching, and don't rush into the first college/uni that has the best advertisements on TV or is cheap. Always check reputation and accreditation.
Q: How a college can get accredited to be able to grant degrees?
A: They have to go through the accrediting process required by whatever agency they're seeking accreditation from. Different agencies have different requirements.
If you're talking about full regional accreditation, here's a sample of what the accrediting agency for my part of the country requires:
http://www.neasc.org/about_accreditation/process/
Q: What is the difference between a Regular University Degree and Accredited University Degree?
Plain and simple which are the plus and minus from a regular uni that it would take 3-4 years to take a degree from an accredited uni?
A: In the USA colleges/universities are either accredited or unaccredited. The unaccredited types produce useless pieces of paper.
You need to select an institution that is Regionally Accredited (RA). Each state has its own accrediting organization. Below is a list for all states and you should ensure that your college/uni is accredited by one of these.
A a degree from an RA institution will be acceptable to all employers and other RA institutions if you wish to transfer to another or continue on to graduate school.
The following are the regional accrediting agencies for educational institutions in the United States:
* Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools - Educational institutions in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands, as well as schools for American children in Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.
* New England Association of Schools and Colleges - Educational institutions in the six New England states (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont).
* North Central Association of Colleges and Schools - Educational institutions in Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, New Mexico, South Dakota, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
* Northwest Association of Accredited Schools - Primary and secondary schools in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington.
* Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities - Postsecondary institutions (colleges and universities) in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington.
* Western Association of Schools and Colleges - Educational institutions in California, Hawaii, Guam, American Samoa, Micronesia, Palau, and Northern Marianas Islands.
* Southern Association of Colleges and Schools - Educational institutions in Virginia, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee and Texas.

Hope this helps.
Q: accredited degrees. will they earn me more money. Are they real degrees?
A: Going to a school that is not accredited is a REALLY bad idea. But the plain truth is that it isn't that hard to get accreditation and a lot of crappy schools are accredited.
For example, the University of Phoenix is accredited -- but it is not respected. Not only is it unlikely to help you earn a lot of money -- it may hurt you. A lot of employers will just toss resumes from anyone who went there. I certainly would.
A better reference point would be to see where US News ranks the school. The better the ranking, the greater the effect on your earning power.
Q: What is the cheapest, fastest, regionally accredited college that offers Graduate degrees in Education?
A: Emporia State University in Emporia Kansas has a very reasonable graduate program in Education. They all so offer discounted programs for residents of other states near by, for example Missouri. THe program is nationally accredited.
Q: Is there a great deal of drawing in a town planning professionally accredited degree?
A: Nope - a pure town planning degree involves no drawing, my time at Cardiff Uni had no drawing at all; UWE offers Planning & Architecture which is the one to choose if you want the best of both worlds!
Q: If a college or university loses accreditation are degrees granted prior to loss of accreditation accredited?
A: Here is an answer that I found, I hope that this helps you.
It would be very unfair if students who finished their degree before the college lost its accreditation to be affect by their loss of accreditation.
First and foremost, XXXXXX University is an accredited institution and all degrees and credits awarded by the university, past and present, are perfectly valid and will always continue to be so. All degrees granted since the university gained membership in SACS were issued by an accredited institution of higher education, and nothing can ever change that.
Q: Does anyone know, if Ashwood University's accredited Life experience degrees can be transfered else where?
A: no they are just a scam, stay away don't get involved with them
Q: how do i know if my college degree is accredited in Canada?
i am a canadian student with a degree from the Lebanese Americcan University, which is chartered in the state of New York.
How do i know if my degree is accredited for in Canada?
A: Call the Lebanese American University and ask. They should know.
Q: Is there any accredited bachelors degree in graphology?
In Europe! There are a lot of masters degrees that are certified but there's no info about bachelors degrees.
A: http://www.brainprints.com/about.html
Q: Names of accredited US universities that will franchise a UK college to deliver their degrees?
A: I'm not sure, but try using this link to see if you find the info. you need http://www.uchicago.edu/uchi/academics/.
Q: Is University of the West Indies and University of Technology accredited institutions?
People who migrate from India to United States having four or five degrees end up driving cabs. Is is because their institutions are not accredited? Are degrees from universities in the Caribbean especially University of the West Indies & University of Technology, Jamaica, recognized worldwide?
A: I think you know the answer already. I work for an organization which embraces diversity and has such a 'postgraduate' as resident engineer. Quite frankly he couldn't put a nut and bolt together but it looks good that we embrace diversity in our organization.
Q: What university in the PH accredited by the US?
For example, for someone who has earned a Master Degree? is accredited in the US?
what university Philippines is accredited in the US?
A: I think technically for University or Post Graduate Institutions, the people who said none are correct.
But that is not to say that the US does not recognize graduates of any school in the Philippines. Although, I believe being recognized depends upon a case to case basis & depends on each particular situation &/or entity.
One answerer said that 2 Philippine Universities have reached the Top 500 in the World, that is partly correct as there are in fact 4 schools that hold that distinction & have done so for many years now. And those four are normally at the top of the list of schools that are recognized by companies in the US. (UP, AdMU, DLSU & UST).
Q: Is joining a new program that is not accredited in college safe?
I would like to know if joining a new program which is computer engineering that is also not accredited safe? Also If I join when the program is not accredited then later on it does becomes accredited will my degree be considered accredited when I graduate?
A: Michelle: I would ask the department chair if they intend to pursue accreditation from the ABET. If the department achieves accreditation before you graduate, your degree should be covered; see "Retroactive Accreditation" in the pamphlet at the link below.
