Q: What kind of Jobs are available with an Architectural Studies Degree. Non Accredited Architecture degree?
I will graduate with a Architectural Studies Degree in about a year at KU. This degree is a Bachelors of Arts in Architectural Studies in the school of Architecture. My plan is to apply for the graduate program at KU for my Masters in Architecture after i get my BA. My question is, if i dont get into the program what are my career options with a Bachelors of Arts in Architectural Studies. Has anyone graduated with this degree and maybe help with some direction. Thank you for all your time. Thanks for all the feedback so far. If anyone else has anything else to chime in, please feel free.

A: I have an Architecture Studies degree also (pre-professional). I never even intended on going into a masters program, and as of right now, that isn't necessary in order to attain your Architect license. NCARB (national council of Architectural registration board) will allow you to complete the IDP (Intern development program) with a non-accredited degree. Instead of a 3 year IDP program or 780 Units (8 hour days) its a 5 year program of 1140 units. Following the completion of this internship you will be qualified for testing just like anybody holding a masters or accreditted degree. You will be making money in your internship while your counterparts are spending money for a masters. I would save the cash and get an MBA if you are going to get a masters. This rule with NCARB will be changing soon, so verify information at their website. www.ncarb.org. Hope this helps.

Q: If i were to study for a non-accredited Architecture degree, what will my future be like?
Can i get an architecture license? jobs?

A: I'd be careful before signing up to a program at a non-accredited institute. If it is your intention to become licensed, I'd first check with your state's licensing/registration board. Many states require extended internships before allowing graduates from non-accredited school to earn their license - and some states don't acknowledge a non-accredited degree at all. The link below offers some information concerning State Board Registration requirements, but please note that some of the information may be outdated, and the best thing to do would be to call your state board and discuss your situation with a representative. I don't believe you should have any problems finding work - but many firms do look down on non-accredited degrees. You may have to look a bit harder.

Q: if i do a bar association accredited paralegal associates degree program can i go straight to law school?
if not what courses should i take at a community college to work towards being a lawyer?

A: Studying to be a paralegal prepares you to be a paralegal, not an attorney! In order to go to law school, you have to first earn a bachelor's degree - an associates degree is not enough. What you choose to major in doesn't matter - choose something that you will do well in because your grades are very important. Also, work on becoming an excellent writer because that will serve you well, in law school as well as when you become a lawyer. It doesn't really matter what particular courses you take at the community college level, just be sure they will help you to earn your undergraduate degree... and make sure you do very well in them. I cannot stress enough how much your gpa matters in the law school admissions process!! To get into law school, you need to make sure that your gpa is excellent and that your lsat score is also exceptional.

Q: How can I obtain a recognized accredited post graduate degree in MBA with minimum payment?

A: scholarship

Q: Is a 4 year finance degree from an accredited university/business school a good degree to have?
By "good degree," I mean is there a current good job market, advancement opportunities, and a respected major.

A: Any business degree is useful in that it tells an employer that you are conversant in the "language" of business. Presumably, you took some general education classes so you know a little something about biology, history, and art, but you then went on to take classes in accounting, marketing, and business law. In your case, you took it a step further and concentrated in finance. I read an article yesterday that business hiring is up in the United States and it is lead by Investment Banks. The average newly minted business graduate will start at $43,000 this year (compared to a Communications grad who will only command $31,000). Some of the career paths that have a finance-related core are: -- banking -- insurance -- investments -- real estate. If you think you can sell, you will find that you have more opportunities than someone who wants only to analyze. Good luck.

Q: where can I get an accredited Masters degree with having an undergraduate degree?

A: With an undergraduate degree, you can apply to any masters program your degree qualifies you for. But if you meant to say 'withOUT having an undergraduate degree', you can't. There are very few cases of an MBA program taking people without a BA, but they had significant work experience.

Q: How can I obtain a Ph.D. degree in biological sciences from an accredited Americaqn university?
I hold a B.S. degree from an American university outside the United States of America. I obtained the said degree in 1966. I have 33 years of teaching experience in biological sciences in one of the most accredited universities in my country. I am the author of five books. My books are currently being taught at accredited state universities nationwide. I am officially retired at the moment; however, I am teaching legally and officially at two state universities in my country on hourly basis. Since hourly payment depends on the degree one holds the higher the degree the higher the higher the payment.

A: I assume from your question that you are not an American citizen. If you want to study in the US, you have to apply for a student visa after you will have been accepted into a graduate program. If you can prove that you have sufficient funds for paying the tuition fees and support yourself you probably will get a visa, though depending on the country you are from it is not guaranteed (I had a chinese friend who studied in England because they wouldn't give her a visa for the US). I don't know anything about American Universities outside of the US, if you have one in your country which offers PhD programs I would think that would be much easier for you (at least you would have a much easier time to stay in contact with all your friends). However, for it will take you probably 5 years as a full time student to earn your PhD (and that is if your are pretty fast). During that time you will earn very little, and only if your advisor can affort to pay you or you can get a scholarship. As it does sound like you would retire in the non to distant future anyway, I don't think it will make finacial sense to get a PhD. If you want to do it because you enjoy it, that's fine, but I don't think eventual higher earnings would offset the cost in your case.

Q: An Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies from a DETC accredited school... Is DETC accreditation worthless?
An attorney I work for knew I was searching for an online/correspondence course in paralegal studies. I'm already a paralegal and only want to further my education. The attorney highly praised The Paralegal Institute, Inc. out of Phoenix, AZ. I see that this school is accredited by DETC (Distance Education and Training Council). ( http://www.theparalegalinstitute.edu... ). I checked out the school and their accreditor is legit --- recognized by the US Department of Education and Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Sadly, however, I'm reading mixed reviews about DETC accreditation. Many websites praise it, while others say it's worthless. I don't know what to think cuz everythings 50/50! I know that regional accreditation would be better, however, my only question is: Are degrees accredited by DETC worthless? TIA for your input. P.S.: I know my employer approves of it.... but if I leave here, I want to make sure the degree isn't worthless.

A: If I were looking a a resume, I'd consider all onlne schools worthless. Just because a school is recognzed by the CHEA doesn't mean it's good. Call some law offices in your area and see what schools they recommend.

Q: How do I know if a degree's programm is accredited?
How can I know if a degree offered by a University will be valid for most other universities. Is there any official website of a regulatory body? let's say for instance is a BS in English in Goldsmiths College recognized by Oxford if I wanted to do a masters?

A: The University needs to supply you with this information. ask the college who accredits them, then ask the college you may want to transfer to if they accept that accrediation. If your college lies about the accredidation and you have proof that they said they were, you can sue for all your tuition.

Q: wether my british degree accredited in USA?
i have passed from the gaduate diploma level of engineering council exam UK.it is equal to a british degree.so i want to know is wether my degree is accredited in USA to do a job in engineering field as an engineer

A: Companies in the US usually look at UK degrees as being equivalent to those in the US. If your degree is equivalent to a BS, then you should be fine. Make sure you mention on your resume that it is equavalent to a BS. Some engineering jobs may require passing some kind of exam. You would still have to take them

Q: Is there a grad school that has admissions for non accredited under grad degree ?

A: Good question. However, why don't you get an actual under grad degree instead of going for a fake graduate degree.

Q: Is McGill Univ. in Canada a well accredited school to get a Masters Degree from?
Would businesses in both the U.S. and Canada look at a Masters degree from McGill and be impressed or would it not stand out among other resumes with Masters degrees?

A: McGill is probably the leading university in Canada and so it will certainly be favored by Canadian businesses. As for the U.S. it certainly wouldn't stand out more than names like Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Chicago, MIT, Columbia, UPenn, Duke and the other big names but McGill has a prestige all of its own and for that it will be recognized by U.S. businesses, certainly if you did your postgraduate studies there.

Q: What do you think about a bachelor degree from a accsct accredited universty?

A: ALWAYSSSSSS make sure the college that you attend is an accredited school. It may have an influence regarding job decisions if the employer knows the unversity attended is not an accredited one. Also, if you wish to continue college, say attending graduate school, it will be difficult to get into if you did not receive ur bachelor's degree at an accredited school (many graduate schools will not acknowledge your undergrade degree, simply because the college that it was received from is not an accredited school).

Q: Is a professional law degree, taken in night courses, just as accredited as a regular, full-time degree?
Just in general, i would like to know if i earned a degree like that if it would be accepted as legitimately.

A: A professional law degree obtained through night classes/courses is no doubt accredited as a regular full time degree provided it is obtained from a recognised institution or university. Getting first entry in to a job and salary level ofcourse depends upon the reputation of the institution and grade obtained. Later on progress depneds upon the individual's calibre, dedication, updating of knowledge, leadership qualities, competetive spirit etc.
