Q: Can I go to accelerated OCS with an Associates in Arts degree?
I have been serving in the Florida Army Naitonal Guard for close to 8 years and have just completed my Associates in Arts with 78 hours, and didn't know if I could go to the accelerated OCS.
For all that doesn't know an Associates in Arts degree is a degree for general education meant for persuing a bachelors degree (which I plan to do at a University).
A: Mcdowens is mistaken. You need 90 credits for acclerated OCS in the guard. You can apply and be accepted to the traditional program now and be bumped up after you finish another 30.

Q: What to do before Accelerated Bachelors Degree?
I'm in school for Network Engineering and soon I'll be graduating in April. After wards I'll be going to Point Park University for my Bachelors degree in IT Management in August.
In the meantime, I really don't know what to do with myself. I do know that taking time off is not an option because I'll get lazy. I was considering getting my A+ and Network+ certifications, even though I really can't afford to take those exams right now. I also considered getting my foot in the door and try to find a job in the IT field before I go to Point Park.
I'm not sure what to do. I feel that this is probably is the best time to get my certifications before my vigorous accelerated training begins. On the other hand, a job in the IT field whatever it may be, would financially stable me better and I'd actually be working in IT.
What do you think would be a good idea?
A: Do what your heart tells you to do! I know, I get corny points for that, but it's your life and you want to do something you will benefit from and enjoy. I would personally do the certifications first, but that's just me.
Q: Accelerated nursing degree?
Has anyone REALLY ever completed an accelerated nursing program while working full time? All of the schools that have the accelerated programed say clearly on the website that it is not reccommended for someone to work full time.
I'm 21 and feeling a need to change my life plans I guess you could say. My middle child only weighed 1lb 8oz when she was born and she's now 4 years old but seeing the RN's and the whole crew at the hospital while she was in there made me want to be there to help other families in the same situation.
I currently already have bachelors degrees in psychology and criminal justice. Last fall I was able to take 21 credit hours (still able to stay on the deans list) work full time and take care of my two children. Now I have a 3rd baby and it seems like SO much more work. I just want to know if the it can realisticly be done with the full time employment??
Also is there any financial aid other than loans for this program? (financial aid office says no)!
A: I completed a one year accelerated BSN degree program, I did not work during that year. I know of a few fellow classmates that worked part time and did ok. It is a very intense schedule and I do not think that it could be done while working full time, not to mention caring for 3 children!!! Classes (for me at least) were 3 days a week with 2 days of clinical. Tests were intense and much of the free time was needed for studying for exams plus homework/papers, etc. Our school did offer a scholarship program that paid for all of the school in exchange for a 4 year work contract at the medical center. Perhaps you could work extra jobs to save money that would allow you to work part time. Good luck!
Q: Accelerated bachelor degree in Tourism?
Is there a california state university that offers accelerated program in tourism?
Thank you
A: You can find top listing of tourism college courses in this site - colleges.mywebcommunity.org
It also has info about each, tips to apply and which salary should you expect (to comparison)
Q: Is getting your degree online a reality? Is it really accelerated to where you can earn a B.A. in a year?
I know that courses have to be accredited.
A: No, it is not realistic to earn a bachelor's degree in one year. BA degrees are usually 120 units. A full load of units per semester is anything from 12-18 units. Taking more than that will be a full time job.
Q: Is Life experiance degrees accelerated, and do any one give validation for higher degree?
I learnt about life experiance degree from www.belforduniversity.org or www.ashwooduniversity.net
They provide graduate and master degree on the basis of your life experiance. Is that valid? or after doing my graduation from here can I take admission in Master Degree of any university?
A: This is absolutely a scam. There are no reputable universities that grant degrees based on life experience. These diploma mills operate with legitimate sounding names, hoping that some employers might overlook the fact that they aren't an institution of any kind. They prey upon people who will spend whatever it takes to get a piece of paper that has no meaning behind it (because it was never legitimately earned).
Read this:
http://www.bakersguide.com/Articles/Articles/Life_Experience_Degrees:_Are_They_Legitimate?/
http://www.usatoday.com/money/workplace/2003-09-28-fakedegrees_x.htm
The accreditations that these "schools" have are fake. They are created by the same companies that run the schools. Look on the Department of Education to see real accreditation boards.
These programs will take your money and give you back a worthless piece of paper that will lead you no where.
Q: What is a Credit Hour | Accelerated College Degree?
Hello,
I am about a year behind in High School Credit. I was wondering, what are some good online schools for this? I need my 9th grade year of credits.
If it takes so 60 hours to get a Associates Degree at $100, that's 6,000 plus another say another 1000 for fees and books. That's only 7,000. Not too much.
Now.. What is a credit hour?
It seems if it takes 60 hours for a degree, you can do this in a few weeks?
I have no problem spending more then 12+ hours a day in a class room on one subject. Actually, I prefer just doing work for one class, all day.
It seems I could rack those 60 hours in like a week.
What is up with that?
I would like to Major in Physics.
Does the college class move at a steady rate, like in high school? So it's not like someone can do all the work in a week or two?
Thanks. I love math, so this is why I want to major in this. I can do and learn new things in math, physics for hours.
I feel I could get a BS in Physics in a few months.
I know, no life!
A: The credit hours are NOT an actual number of hours.
To obtain 60 credit hours would take two years of college. Each class is generally 3 credit hours (though some do differ). It depends on the college and how their classes are set up. Traditional colleges are split into semesters and you generally take 12-15 credit hours (4-5 classes) per semester. However there are some that the classes are for a shorter time period (about 6 weeks) and you take one class at a time.
You mention a BS in Physics...that would take 4 years unless you go to a school with accelerated classes.
Q: A couple questions about accelerated schools and degrees?
1.Are they legitimate do you learn are they accredited and are they accepted by employer's?
2.How does it work? How do you get your degree faster and cheaper then others?
3.What schools are good and reputable for this? Associate's? Bachelor's? Master's? Specifically in California? Are they mostly on the internet?
A: Be forewarned, you need to devote all your time to studying and homework. It's NOT easy.
Q: Will selective MBA/graduate programs frown on an accelerated bachelor's degree?
I am currently attending a well-respected traditional Catholic university and I am about to finish my Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management. I have a 3.8 GPA and I have taken challenging coursework ranging from microeconomics to biology to calculus. I am also employed in the human resources field with a Fortune 100 company. So here is the deal:
I want to apply to one of Minnesota's more selective MBA programs. I am fairly academically inclined and my GMAT score will be right in the target range. The only issue I can forecast is that my entire undergraduate degree would have been earned in only 23 months from start to finish. This was accomplished by passing AP exams, CLEP exams, and taking a relatively heavy course load each semester (15-20 credits).
Do you think that a selective graduate program will view my academic history as a strength or a weakness in my application?
A: If you are really at a good school, then no, it won't hurt you badly. It would hurt you if you had gone to a bad undergraduate school just so that you could finish faster.
Q: accelerated juris doctorate degree?
A: Depends on how much you enjoy being tortured. Law school on a normal schedule is tough enough for most people. There has been a lot of talk about cutting back on the third year, but it hasn't really gone anywhere, as far as I know.
Q: Can I go into Occupational Therapy with an undergrad degree in Business?
How many more years of schooling will i need in order to become an occupational therapist? I know that it requires a masters degree. Do schools offer a accelerated program for students who have already completed an undergrad degree?
Thanx!
A: In the UK you can do a masters degree in 2 years that will qualify you and it doesn't really matter what your first degree is. It'll cost you around 10k though. Not sure what the process is in the US if you live there.
