Q: Will increasing number of online courses effect teachers in the future?
I am currently seeking a career in the teaching field, and I have noticed that the number of students taking online courses is increasing rapidly. How will this trend effect my education, and the future of teaching?

A: You will still teach much the same way as a regular class, just online. You will grade, give online lectures, but you will do it all from the computer. Also, there is no way that online classes are going to totally kill normal classroom education anytime soon.

Q: What do you think about taking online highschool courses?
I just started my junior year and am thinking about switching to online courses and maybe getting my schooling done early. Has anyone else done this? Highschool sucks, and i know it does for everyone, but if i have the choice of doing this, then why not?! What are the disadvantages?

A: There are many advantages to online learning. There are also some disadvantages. Some of the advantages include a flexible schedule, it's self-paced, you get to work form home or where ever else you have internet access, and you have a greater opportunity to take classes that may not be offered at your regular high school. Some of the disadvantages are that you don't get the social aspect of school. However, this can be easily fixed by joining a community group, sports team, art club, whatever. You can also hang out with your friends after school hours. Also, you need to be self motivated in order to do online schooling. Don't procrastinate, as this will only make you more stressed out at the end of the term. Here is a great website that lists several good online high schools. http://www.bestonlinehighschools.com I hope this helps! Best of luck!

Q: Would you recommend taking online courses for science and math?
Physics, Chem, trig-calc? What are the pro's and con's of taking these kinds of courses online?

A: I'm not sure. My son is 15 and in 10th grade. He is taking Chemistry this year. He had a CD course, but it didn't seem to stick real well. It also included a virtual lab with experiments. He is enjoying it, but I am supplementing with Homework Helpers Chemistry by Greg Curran. You can pick one up at Amazon.com for $10.19. They also have one for Physics and one for Calculus. I think taking an online course is good, but make sure you do plenty of practice on paper. Good luck!

Q: How do I know if these colleges offering online courses are accredited institutions?
I am wanting to take college courses online, but I don't know which ones are legitimate?? How do I find out?

A: Yeah but accredited to who? They will all claim to be but the only way to be sure is go with a national one like the open university in the UK

Q: if I have a high school diploma and want to take online courses, what level can I start at?
I am interested in taking courses for IT online, however, most of the schools I have checked out, there are only bachelor programs for IT, can I skip over the associates programs that dont interest me or do I have to go in a particular order? If not what would be my first step if the school doesnt have an associates program in the field that interests me..or is online courses not going to work out in this situation...also any suggestions of a good school? I know, stupid question, but I am just not familiar with the process.

A: hey, this isnt a stupid question. its a good one. okay ive got good reasons for this but im on my FOURTH college. working towards a double major in computer programming and database management. i took classes online at Strayer university for a year. www.strayer.edu they offer an associates degree program in CIS but its not worth much. I wouldnt recommend going to this school. im about to start attending classes at Devry online. i would recommend you do the same. if you work at it youll be able to earn your Bachelors in about 3 years. and if you are in the CIS program there you can get a double major by taking only about 1 additional semester worth of classes. classes start in September and October. i just want to let you know you are making a great choice by choosing classes online. At a university you waste so much time. check out Devry, theyve got a lot of options and they are known nation wide. good luck :)

Q: Are there any online courses to become a doctor?
Is it possible to take online courses to become a doctor? Now a days you can get a bachelors degree online and even a masters for almost any career.

A: you've got to be kidding--if you think this is possible--you do not have the ability to be a doctor... how are you going to practice surgery online-- you can get undergrad/masters that might get you into med school--but not med school itself--you usually need a lot of science for med school--including a lot of lab work.....

I'm not sure what courses I would like to take online, so where can I find an online college (college web site - that offers online training) , where I can browse the curiculum?

A: University of Phoneix.....

Q: Are online courses looked down upon by employers looking at a resume?
Hi! I've taken several college courses (non-credit) online recently. How do I properly word that on a resume? I mean do I put "online" or wait for the interview? I don't want the resume to be misleading, but I don't want it looked down upon either. Thanks for any help! I wanted to add that these 3 courses have been at the community college in my city, & are fully accredited, hopefully that helps!

A: Since they are non credit courses, you may want to state you audited whatever and not give a school name. If you continue to take online courses you may want to consider taking them from schools that have campuses as well as are online. If and when you graduate, there is no difference in the degree.

Q: What are some online courses that don't take a long time to complete?
I am a 24 yr old stay at home mom with absolutely no work experience worth mentioning..... I would like to go to school eventually but I need a job to make the money to go! I need to make enough for childcare and money to save so most jobs that readily hire people w/o experience won't make enough to meet my goals. Does anyone know of any online courses/certifications that don't take very long to complete? I don't really need info about specific schools ( I know what to look for to find a credible online school) just education ideas. I am up for anything at this point.

A: For what industry? For IT, the SMP cert is administered online and can be completed in hours, except the prp. www.thesmi.com
