Q: Is it possible to become an LPN utilizing on-line courses?
I'm just wondering how these on-line courses offer the hands-on portion of the schooling? Does the student do that on their own by applying at local hospitals, etc?

A: No! You must attend a real school to become a nurse in this country. LPN's are not online-educated nurses, they are real, qualified, trained nurses who spend thousands of hours in clinical practice sessions with real, live patients in real environments. You may be able to take some of the non-nursing related courses online via a community college, but the LPN program is in-living color and is quite real, and cannot be attained from sitting at home with your laptop. A: I'd suggest you apply to be a special education paraprofessional at the local school district. If this is something you want to persue, you'll need a college education. My niece just went to a two-year college to begin a degree in SpEd. She got some experience in the classroom and now will finish her degree at a university. I don't think you can do this online.

Q: Are there any valid on-line programs to get a nursing degree?
My wife is a RT who is interested in pursuing her BSN. Because she works part time and is a full time mother, taking courses on-line would make the most sense. Is anyone aware of any on-line programs that would allow her to transfer credits from some of the preliminary classes she has already taken? She looked into a program by Excelsior College but has been told that her current employer may not be accepting graduates of that program in the near future.

A: Did you mean RN? I dont what an RT is. If she is already an RN, yes, they do have RN-BSN online programs like Kaplan. All you need to do is search the web. If she is not a RN, I will strongly advice against pursuing a BSN degree online. She will have a hard time finding a job without any clinical experience. A: The best way to determine whether or not Arizona State will accept the on line classes from the University of Arizona is to ask your counselor at Arizona State. It would be a shame to take these classes and then not be able to use them towards your degree. I don't know how many on-line credits you intend to gather, but the school that will be conferring the degree will insist that you take the majority of your classes with them simply because when they confer a degree they are putting their reputation on the line. If you have a current copy of the University of Arizona's catalog, you may find more specific information in it.

Q: Do you know anyone who graduated through Ashford Universities on-line courses? How long did it take?


A: I personally don't know anyone but I do know that the majority of Universities have "residency requirements" meaning that the student must be able to attend some classes on campus. There may also be a restriction on the number of Distance study (online) courses you may take.

A: I take courses online and on campus. Really, there are particular classes that just involve a lot of actual work nothing really to be taught. Plus, you have the choice to do the classes at your leisure and at your pace. There are tutors on campus that you can go to when you don't understand something or you can go to your teachers office and have them explain it to you. My online teachers are always available to me. It's more convenient and you can get more done.

A: The asker says "Does anybody know . . . ?" Strictly speaking, the asker wishes to determine whether there is anybody in the whole wide world who knows. And so, the correct answer to this question is that certainly there is somebody who knows. The next question probably ought to be "How can I find the person who knows?" .

A: I graduated and I'm going back to school. I started Monday. You'll have to just dedicate more time and try harder.. And keep in touch with your teacher. It helps ALOT.
