Q: Do you know anything about the course Management Accounting?
What are the kind of jobs i could get when i finish this course? Does this have a masteral?

A: Management accounting is doing accounting within a firm, as opposed to public accounting where you review other firm's records. To be an accountant you need to have a bachelor's degree in accounting. The accounting program will cover all aspects of accounting as you need to be well-rounded in each area even if you aren't going to be doing that type of work career-wise.

Q: I have just been assigned to identify and run management course in my firm. Where do I start?
The firm has gone through a number of restructuring exercises and this brought in a new crop of managers. Their performance has generally been viewed as green. This clearly shows the need for new and old managers to learn new management skills during transitions.

A: you need to identify some key areas which may include Management Strategy Health & Safety Law Logistics Accountancy Skills Operations Management

Q: I am looking to do a project management course, which is the best and most recognised?
I am an experienced researcher in a post doc position in IT but am looking to head towards more project management roles within the banking, intelligent buildings or software development industry. Ideally I would like to eventually work for a big bank or large company. I know of Prince 2 and PMP qualifications but are they any good? Maybe there is another one which is better?

A: The Project Management Institute, or PMI, is widely recognized as the industry-recognized standard for project management methodology and certification. It is from them that you can acquire your PMP and other project managements certificatins. Prince 2 is more widely known in Europe than PMI. It is a matter of personal opinion which one is 'better' -- you'll likely get a different answer for every person you ask. If you are in the U.S. though, you might get more bang for your buck to be associated with PMI since, as I said, Prince 2 isn't as widely known. In either case having a professional project management certification will tell potential employers that you're serious about the discipline and are willing to go the extra mile to become skilled in a standardized methodology in the field. If you are looking for PMI you should be looking for courses that are from companies who are R.E.P.s (Registered Education Providers). You can perform a search on the page below to locate an organization close to you.

Q: How and Where Can I Obtain Free Electronic Format Readings/Sources for Public Management Course?
I intend to develop an online Public Management (PM) course and desperately need freely accessible and/or downloadable/obtainable both text- and non textbook electronic format readings on a number of topics such as follows: theories of public administration/bureaucracy, new public mgmt, public policy and policy analysis, personnel mgmt, e-gvt, financial mgmt, public relations, strategic mgmt, etc. I searched web for free sources but to no avail... Anybody could refer me in a targeted way to particular sites with open readings on these PM subjects? Any other strategies to obtain these readings in file formats ? Would be appreciative of any expert's advice.

A: The biggest problem with this is the word "free." Honestly it may be quite difficult to come up with something that is free. The amount of things that you need makes it even more difficult. If you are associated with a university you could possibly include articles from online journals for free. You could probably find quite a few articles there. If you are not associated with a university then you likely have to pay.

Q: What are my job prospects after a project management course?
I am a telecom engineer and I am looking to advance my career prospects , I am not sure if I can do a full time/part time MBA, but pursuing a certificate in project management from PMI seems like a good option Is that a good career prospect especially money wise?

A: Well, you need to define how much money makes you happy. Having a PMP certification is something that is becoming more and more important these days. Gone are the days when companies had projects and worked willy-nilly on them to get them done. Now with international standards coming into place a lot of companies are tightening the budget strings and that is where a project manager comes in useful. Project Managers are hired for their ability to run projects, and not to know what the project deal with. If you are a people person who can adhere to deadlines, than being a project manager is the job for you. Here in the Chicago area, there is always a high demand for good project managers and if you do contract work, the pay is about $120K-$150K a year if you work in the IT industry. And the work is steady. I'm a Human Resources VP for an extremely large healthcare firm in Chicago, and I hire project managers on a regular basis from various contractors. They do a great job, cost a lot, but the work they do is A-1. I only hire project managers who have the PMP certification from PMI.

Q: What do you think is the most demand field,Business management course or Physical Therapy?
This two field interest me, but I have to select the course that has more opportunity of getting job easy. Thanks!

A: Being in a current business field (banking) I can certainly tell you that there's way more demand for Business Management. Every organization out there (from private to government) will gladly accept some form of competent business manager within their personnel ranks. The Physical Therapy field however is a very niche field, and you can only either practice or service your skills within a limited market. I wouldn't know about the Physical Therapy job postings out there because I never tried them out, but I can certainly tell you that when I was appyling for banking career jobs, there were plenty of opportunities to look from in all other forms of business. Hope this info helps.

i am a graduating student of BSC-management course and i am planning to continue my studies by taking up law or a master's degree. and here's the big Q, i am confused since i don't know if my course is actually related to my BS degree.

A: It can be, but it depends on what you want to do. Many business students go on for law degrees if they want to become corporate counsel, or go into an area of civil law related to business. Others do so if they want to go into a highly-regulated area of business in which knowledge of the law (contracts, intellectual property, etc.) would be helpful.

Q: What is the difference between the course business management and business ad?
I'm a senior high school student and I'm currently choosing what course to take up, and I'm kinda confused with these two. Hope you can help.

A: Business management is about the strategic element of business, when and how to invest, profit margins, taxation, whether to develop your own workforce or contract, how to develop sales and supply network, company economics and macroeconomics, etc. Business administration is about the logistics of running a business. How to keep the books, the process and law of hiring and firing workers, working with the bank and the forms needed for line of credit, doing payroll, account payable and account receivable, supervising facility maintenance, paying the taxes on time, etc. The analogy is business management is how do you navigate a car (your business) within the traffic of other businesses. Business administration is how do you keep the engine, transmission, wheels and all running smoothly together. If you are a senior in high school, business administration skills are “immediately sellable” as, upon skill demonstration; you can work in accounting or other administrative departments of a company. However if you want to study business or work as an engineer, physician, lawyer, politician, etc. then business management will educate you about the complex and fascinating world of business.

Q: How would you design the Management Philosophy course?
example:This course reviews various schools of philosophy impacting the conceptual and theoretical framework of management. Considering the fact that management as a concept combines on one hand normative action and on the other hand socially constructed practice, the dialogue with the classical philosophical body of knowledge such as that of Aristotle becomes vital for understanding and appreciating the dynamics of contemporary management will be discussed.

A: I would concentrate on the management theorists form the 19th Century on. My PhD is in management. I rarely think about Aristotle and classical philosophy. I do think about and know the classical management theorists for the 19th Century on...... The level you are describing is a PhD level learning- and I doubt undergrad or even masters level students would appreciate the difference.
