Q: How does my husband do Army Correspondence courses?
What website does he need to register with and other information??? He is down range right now and wants to use his extra time to gain promotion points.
A: www.train.army.mil
he'll log in with his ako name and password. click on my courses, then click on my course home. scroll through till you see something that sparks your interest then click on the yellow incon on the right side. enter the info needed and within an hour it will be under the my active enrollments. download the manual onto your computer or he can just open it and read it. there are thousands of courses and sub courses to choose from. just remember you max at 1000 hours, which will give you 200 promotion points.
i maxed out in 11 months. i was deployed and got it all done. im sure he'll be able to as well.
Q: I want to take correspondence courses to earn college credits where would be a good place to look?
I am looking for a school which is accredited with other instiuations where i can do school work from home and mail there class work back to them I would like to get my associate or a certificate as court reporter
A: Athabasca University in Alberta, Canada, is an accredited distance/on line university. I've attached their website.
Q: Is anyone out there doing school courses through correspondence studies?
Correspondence is kind of like homeschooling but with homeschooling, your parents (or a tutor) is teaching you at home, where as with correspondence, you are basically teaching yourself. You have no teacher to push you.
For those of you who are doing it, or who have done it before, how did you discipline yourself to sit down and do it? And how long did it take you on average to receive one credit?
I had 11 credits to complete before graduating from high school and I have been doing these courses for nearly 2 years. I still have 5 more credits to get, and I feel like it's going too slow.
A: I always found correspondence courses rewarding because I can do it at my own pace. I only took two during high school...health and history of world civilizations. They both required a huge amount of reading...but they were really easy because all you had to do was regurgitate the reading into "fill in the blank" style worksheets. Then you took the self tests in the back of the book that came with the answers so you could check yourself. At the end of the course, you had to go to an actual classroom and take a final exam that was an exact copy of the self tests...so all you had to do was memorize the self tests! Seems pretty cake right? It was, however, I learned so much because it wasn't stressful like other high school classes at school. I highly recommend these courses to anyone as a quick and efficient way to get your credits.
You said that you are losing your motivation with them...perhaps you are in too many at once? Like I said, they are more reading than you will probably ever do in an actual high school class, so it is wise to have the time to do every bit of the reading, thus taking them one at a time. It is wiser because you could finish one course in three weeks and then move on to another course and finish two in six weeks rather than two in three months otherwise!
Also, split the reading up during the day...take breaks. Maybe wake up sooner to do a bit of reading and then do more reading at night....this way you have most of your day free to do whatever you want and it won't feel like you are doing schoolwork at all!
Best wishes to you! = )
Q: What are some trustworthy on line universities or correspondence courses?
Live too far out to go to a school... All recommendations and advice appreciated...
A: The best approach is to apply to an accredited school that offers programs online. Many community colleges and universities offer courses online; it is rare, though, for full programs to be offered fully online, though you may find a few in your search.
Stay away from "correspondence schools": those are not likely to be accredited and your degree will be worthless.
My suggestion is to start in your local area: which colleges or universities are closest to your home and what courses are offered online in the field of your interest? If you choose a local campus, you will pay resident-based tuition and not out-of-state tuition which is far higher.
All the best to you.
Q: How many promotion points are Army correspondence courses worth?
A: 5 credits hours is worth one point, so you need 1000 Ch's to max your military education and get 200 points
Q: I want to do correspondence course from IGNOU. Please suggets college names in Mumbai and list of courses?
I have completed diploma in electronics and doing job.
A: Why dont you directly visit the website of IGNOU, Directorate op distance education, search them in search engine.http://www.ignou.ac.in/
Q: Has anyone been charged under UCMJ for cheating on Army Correspondence courses for promotion?
Just wondering, don't think it's fair for someone like me who is 6 credit hours from my Bachelor's Degree to still be "promoteable" but not promoted because I refuse to cheat. Yet, others with no civilian education whatsoever are selected for promotion and make points because they cheat. Kind of a FUBAR promotion system when you can obtain 200 promotion points for cheating and I get 100 points for a BACHELORS degree!!

Q: I have done Diploma in Electrical Engg.so i would like to know whhich colleges provide correspondence courses?
i have completed diploma in electrical engg in 2007 so, now i want to do Btech. while joining through lateral entry,i want to do my btech in Electrical....bt is it possible that i can do in any other stream.
nw i am working so, i cant attend the classes.
A: B.Tech(Electrical and Electronics Engineering) is offered in the Distance Education mode by SRM University, Tamil Nadu.
Did you do your diploma after completing 10+2 / HSC / equivalent? If so, you can join for B.Tech of 4 years duration in any stream/specialisation that you may be interested in. Lateral entry, however, is possible only in the relevant area of specialisation.
Q: Does anyone know which army correspondence courses offer the most points?
i found that the pt1300 is worth 64 pts...any other high ones? i would GREATLY appreciate it! waiting on the promotion!
A: Try the Hazmat Handling Course. And technically, Combat Lifesaver is a CC..that is 40 hours.
Q: Why don't we set up correspondence courses and apprenticeships for every profession so more people can do it?
Why not create professional exams, that if you pass the tests and you do hours of work and practice with people who are already professionals, you become certified for those professions, including doctors, lawyers, engineers, etc.
A: It could be that people who are already in those professions don't necessarily want "more people" who can do their jobs--it would lower their pay scales.
And, doctors, lawyers and engineers are responsible for having a great deal of knowledge & information--which is best taught in a formal setting, such as a college or university. (And, for that matter, I've even heard of something called a "bar exam"--much as you describe--for lawyers).
Q: whats the different between online courses and Correspondence course?
which one will be count as credit hours toward my actual degree?
A: Before the internet, it was possible to obtain college credit by doing coursework and sending it through the US Postal mail for grading. The entire course was done that way.
Very few places do correspondence anymore with the introduction of the internet. Those that do, you should be wary.
Q: Online/correspondence courses in illustration?
A friend is interested in illustration and has been working at it on his own. He isn't into animation or gaming or even graphic novels. He has a more painterly style. Are there any good online/correspondence courses in illustration that don't cost too much?
A: I would recommend that your friend find classes through your local recreation dept., community college or community center. Some high schools have evening classes that anyone can sign up for...
most of these are fairly inexpensive and far superior to the distance learning programs on line or through the mail.
Q: Are the correspondence courses like diploma in civil eng from IGNOU are acsepted in government offices?
I work in PWD government office so i like to know will the mention course will be helpfull in my future promotion
