Q: How many accounting courses are necessary before taking the CPA exam?
I am taking an accounting course at a local community college and if I do well, am thinking about pursuing a CPA. How many courses does it usually take before people can take the exam to be certified?

A: I'm not a CPA, but I'm also interested in the matter. You'll need 24 semester hours in accounting-related subjects and another 24 semester hours in business-related subjects. Minimum degree required is bachelor's. Some states require a minimum of 150 semester hours, which means taking classes after you've acquired your bachelor's degree. Hope that helps.

A: Information is below.

Q: Which is the Best Institute for Computerised Accounting Courses? ICA or IIJT or Any Other.?
Plz provide the right information. Also if any one knows the entire details and better centre in Mumbai to do it,plz let me know. Thanks In Advance.

A: IIJT anytime..... There is no comparision here. I know a couple of my friends who have done a course from the IIJT centre in Andheri. The faculties, classrooms, are a class apart from any other centre. IIJT standards are class!! I would advice you to go there and talk to students and faculties yourself. You will not need any advice from anyone. Believe in your own decision. IIJT's website is www.iijt.net You could get the addresses of all IIJT Mumbai centres from there. All the best!

Q: Which math courses to take to better my accounting skills?
I am planning to be a tax law accountant or something in that field. I am going into grade 11 and my math course options are Consumer, Applied and PreCal. I dont know which to take for my accounting. Any suggestions? I have an option of two. So precal is a given. Should i take consumer for basic real life skills?

A: I would go for the Precalc...because at my university most business/accounting majors are required to take some kind of calculus classes....so it would be good to have a head start on those.

Q: Is there any short courses for accounting or auditing?
My friend`s son is coming to visit U.S for a month or two,he might extend a little longer if he could do any course in that period,I don`t know if any of you could guide him,he has clear intermediate chartered accountant exam from Pakistan. Should he attend any seminar,or research work,or attend any small course ,if there is any, to utilize his visit to U.S. Please advice....Thanks

A: I presume that your friend's son is coming from Pakistan. He probably already has a good knowledge of fundamentals of accounting being at a intermediate level of CA exams. If he is going to stay for a short while (1-3 month), there might be some good courses in accounting and auditing at your nearby community college like Cost and Managerial Acct., Government Acct, Accounting Ethics, Government and NGO Accounting, etc. These courses will help broaden his outlook from the traditional CA tracks that are taught in ICAP, etc. I am not sure how long any of these courses take to complete, but most courses at community colleges don't take more than 3 months (and some are as short as 5 weeks). Chances are, that they may be available on-line too. If his visa allows, he might want to do an internship as an accounting technician at some local firm here in US.

A: I'm pretty sure I have taken a 4 hour auditing course at Ohio State. Where are you looking at? There are thousands of universities, one of them must have a 4 hour auditing course...good luck!

Q: how can i find what courses i should take to get into an accounting uni.?
my tutor says i dont need to take all things accoutning related and set me a target 2 research other courses unrelated to accounting to take?

A: Accounting. Hmm, well you'd need A-levels like Economics, Business Studies, and Maths I would've thought. Those sorts of things. If you want something different, pick 2 of those, probably Business would be the one to lose, and do whatever, most uni's should be pleased with those choices.
