Q: Can anyone tell me more about the University of Scranton? first hand experiances?
i recently got accepted into Scranton with a scholarship. Can anyone tell me more about the social life or what it is like to go there, good or bad?
A: i dont have first hand experience (yet anyway, im looking at getting my mba there) but if you live in the northeast it is a very respected school, especially in the philadelphia region. it is one of the top ranked universities in its category. i havent been on campus but i have been to scranton and its not exactly a social hotbed. but there is plenty of stuff to do, you just have to look for it.
Q: What is the tuition fee for the University of Scranton?
A: http://matrix.scranton.edu/resources/bursar_tuition_fees.shtml
From the above link I determinded it is $807 a credit. Check this link out for more details.
Q: Can I get into a good Catholic University with a 2.68 GPA and a 28 on my ACT? I am very involved in my school?
and my grades have had a real turn around since Freshman year. I am now a Junior. My first choice of college is University of Scranton. I am also running for Class president.
yes, you do in fact need brains. think Notre Dame University.
A: Hey, I'm applying to Catholic University of America. My gpa by Junior was a 2.98 and my highest SAT score was a 1010. I did a lot of volunteer work and I worked 2 years at a learning center. My senior gradeas of is a 3.8. Anyways, I got deferred probably because of my gpa as of Junior. But I did go to an interview just to up my chance and now I'm still waiting.
I don't think Scranton is as prestigous as Notre Dame, but try really hard to bring your gpa to at least a 3.0. Some Catholic universities are more lenient than others, so if you make your application stand out, you will have a good chance.
Definitely get an interview, write a kick ass essay, and put in more than what you are expected.
Good lucky to you :) and me.
Q: What university is easier to get into?
is it easier to get into university of Scranton or Catholic Univesity of America
A: Scranton.
Q: What school has a better undergraduate business program?
I am a senior in high school and got into these four schools Seton Hall, University of Scranton, TCNJ, and Loyola Maryland. I want to know which school would give me better opportunities for a future career in investment banking. Also what major would best suit this career
A: Can't tell you which school is better, but can tell you what I would do. I would do a degree in math with a finance emphasis. Then I would enroll in a Masters program leading to becoming a certified financial analyst. That qualification is very well thought of in the industry. It also makes the choice of school easier - which school has the better admission rate to graduate school, and what help do they provide in getting admitted. IMHO that's a key question everyone should ask of any school they are thinking about.
Thanks
Bill
Q: What school has the best Undergraduate Business Program?
I am a senior in high school and got into these four schools Seton Hall, University of Scranton, TCNJ, and Loyola Maryland. I want to know which school would give me better opportunities for a future career in investment banking. Also what major would best suit this career
A: The best in the country is Penn/Wharton.
Of the ones you named, Seton Hall has a nice program. I visited Loyala, and it's a nice little school too. But, I suggest visiting them. College is more about fit than it is better. If one school fits your style, and another doesn't, you'd be better off in the first, even if it's ranked lower.
Q: i want to know the main things about applying to college and how you apply to all the colleges?
These are the colleges i want to go to:
Villanova University
Boston University
University of Scranton
University of Dayton
St Johns University (Safety)
how does the application look?
does the order of how you put your colleges on your application effect your chances of getting in?
A: You don't tell the other schools where else you have applied... here are my suggestions from a Senior who is in the process...
Apply early... get all of your SAT's out of the way, and see if you can apply for early action.
Do alot of scholarships.... its really tedious work, but I would rather pay a few grand out of pocket for college than tens of thousands.
Don't Procrastinate... make a big schedule of when things are due, applicants, supplements, financial aid info, etc...
Good luck.
Q: Only Penn State "University Park" a good school?

Thank You!

Q: i was waitlisted at my top college choice?
Is it worth it to take the chance or should i move on? i have been accepted to 6 other schools.(Scranton, University of Rhode Island, Towson, University at Buffalo, U mass Amherst, York college of PA,).
A: You can call to see your rank on the waiting list. If you are number one you have a damn good chance of being accepted.
The other schools have deadlines for giving them an answer as to whether you will attend or not. You can think about it until then.
You can always accept the offer at another school and if your top choice accepts you, never attend the other university and "drop out"... although if you have to pay fees you do not get reimbursed.
Q: Pre Med Questions, Plz help,... I'm trying to get into college, theres no one to help.?
I have a list of schools and I was wondering if you could give me a response on each? Are they good? do they have a premed program and a Med? Best Background/good/poor when looking for a job. Any information would be great. I live in PA and I want to be a Doctor (Internist)
Pennstate
Scranton University
Temple
Johns Hopkins
Harvard Med
Princten Med
Duke
Boston University
Colombia University
Drexel University
Wilkes University.
If you know anything on any of the, plz let me know
A: There are only 4 states that do not have medical schools associated with their state university system. You best option is to attend your state university and then its medical school. The reasons for this are: 1) The laws related to the funding the school receives require preference be given to state residents (approximately 70% of matriculants are state residents) and 2) state residents pay a lower tuition.
Q: can you rate these schools from hard/best colleges to easy/decent colleges?
GPA:
3.35 Unweighted
3.62 Weighted
Good extracurriculars
President of Student Body
SAT's 1900's-2010's
SAT 2's - 660-720
Can you rate these schools from best to worse or harder to get into to easy to get into?
can you also tell me if i could get in with my grades?
Boston university
UCONN
George Washington university
Syracuse University
Scranton University
University of Dayton
Fordham University
Drexel University
NorthEastern University
A: Sorry, I can't do the full ranking. I will say that your top two on the list, by a long way, are Boston University and George Washington. Those are head-and-shoulders above the others. Both are relatively difficult to get into but I would say that you have a good shot, though not a guaranteed spot, at either.
There is no way you'd be rejected from UConn (quite a respectable school, certainly a reasonable place to go) or Syracuse (also very respectable). I can't speak to the others, sorry.
Q: Will I get accepted into college?
Hi! I am a high school. I have a 3.3 gpa (approx) and my latest practice s.a.t. test was a 1400...i have a countless number of community service hours, participate in the school show, theater society (drama club), school choir, book club, and student council for one year. My list of colleges:
Seton Hall
Montclair
University of Scranton
Roanoke
Rowan
Kean
and others that i don't remember now, do you think i will get accepted into them or any of them?
A: i've never heard of those colleges. so u should probably be able to get in without fuss.
Q: Which Campus shall choose if I want to go to Penn State University?
I'm applying for college now, and I choose Penn State University. There is a step on the application asking me about the 1st choice starting campus, alternate choice starting campus and ending campuse. those campuses include:Abington, Altoona, Beaver, Brandywine, Dubois Erie, Fayette, Greater Allegheny, Harrisburg, Lehigh Valley, Mont Alto, New Kensington Schuylkill, shenango, Wilkes-Barre, Worthington Scranton, and Yord. I have no clude where those places are, all I want is to get into Penn State University Park, which one is the best starting campus? Can anyone help me please.
A: Well then put Penn State University Park as your first choice. For the most part the other campuses offer degrees that have you finish your last 2 years at the main campus, though there are some you can start and finish at the campus of your choice. For some people they chose to go to one of the other campuses b/c University Park is harder to get into, and if you live in PA you have a good chance of getting into the campus that is closest to you (University Park excluded). Most of the campuses are more then an hour away from University Park, except Altoona, which is like 45 minute to the west (just in case you want to fill in a back-up campus), but if you want to go to University Park, put that down as your first choice.
Q: Where Should I Go To College?!?!?
so as the time to decide where i want to go to college draws near, the more unsure i am as to where i want to go.
the one school that i banked on going to( University of Maryland College Park) actually rejected me.. rumor has it that they are trying to up their minority pop by about 20% and seeing that i'm not a minority could have been it.. i mean i have a 3.8 GPA and 29 for the ACT and i've done 2 research projects over the past 4 years blah blah
anyway, here is a list of the colleges i've gotten into so far:
SUNY Buffalo
SUNY New Paltz
SUNY Geneseo
Drexel University
Scranton University
Manhattan College
i'm considering engineering as a field of study, but i don't know
no i'm not using this as a way to make my final decision, i just want to hear any opinions you may have...
help?
A: Congratulations on getting into those schools! I have great respect for all but New Paltz. However, Manhatten, Scranton, and Drexel are not worth the private tuition in my opinion. You will receive an equivalent education at Buffalo or Geneseo. If you are definitely considering engineering then Buffalo is the way to go. A good friend of mine is a junior there and really enjoys it and says the department is very strong. If you are leaning more toward a liberal arts major then definitely go with Geneseo. I absolutely love Geneseo (it's tied with UAlbany as my favorite school) and their professors are all amazing and the school is great and the student body is awesome. I have a few friends going to Geneseo and they all absolutely love it. One of my friends majored in Business and already had a six-figure job lined up in Rochester in his JUNIOR YEAR! I visited Geneseo twice - the town is really quaint and cool (and Mama Mia's pizza is REALLY REALLY good). As for Drexel, I visited Philadelphia and stayed not far from Drexel's main campus. From what I saw there wasn't much of a campus...good basketball though haha. Manhatten is wayyy overpriced and one girl who's going there now that I know is saying that she wished she went to a SUNY school because the quality of education isnt very good. As I stated in my other post, I would completely discount New Paltz. If you are not religious I would also completely discount Scranton. Scranton also REQUIRES a liberal arts curriculum (even if you wanted engineering). I hope I have been some help to you and I wish you good luck!
Q: Seton Hall or Scranton?
I'm not sure which university I want to apply to. Seton Hall would be less expensive because I wouldn't have to dorm (I live nearby), but which university is better? I'm just looking for opinions from people who have been in either school - what are your experiences with either university, did you get a good financial aid package, what sat score did you receive to get accepted, etc... Also, I'm looking to become a veterinarian, majoring in biology, so which school would be best for me? Of course, I'll make the final decision on my own, but any advice would be helpful right now.
A: Wow! Those are two of my choices also. A really good idea, if you have time, is to set up a meeting with both schools. You could take a tour, sit in on a few classes, ask questions, and get a feel for the campus. You also should make sure to set up an interview with a head at the school (like the dean or admissions representative). Also try to see which offers more/ better courses for the major you are considering, also, you can look up more information on their websites. Good Luck!!!!!
- Also I know that you are probably looking at alot of schools, maybe you have come across some informatin to help me with my questions?
