Q: What GPA is required for Admisson to University of Florida Engineering School?
What is the required gpa for admissions to university of florida civil engineering program. (Graduate program) I am close to completing my Bachelor's at Florida international University.

A: The minimum is a 3.0 GPA but since the economy is in a deep recession and there are no jobs for Civil Engineers especially in Florida, there are many more people applying to graduate school so the competition to get in is getting tough. I wouldn't rely on getting in with just a 3.0 GPA. I would look at getting a 3.5 or higher to have a good chance at getting in.

Q: Should I go to university of florida as compared to columbia?
I am planning to transfer to do my undergraduate degree in engineering either biomedical or chemical. I got in both schools and are waying the options. Finance will not affect my decision because it seems that at both schools I will go for little or no cost. Even though columbia is the better name, I think id more enjoy university of florida-gainesville because there is more to do on campus and the social life seems to be enjoyed more by students. If you were me which one would you do?

A: Well, it's "weighing" and there is no "university of florida-gainesville" there is only the University of Florida. And by Columbia I assume you mean Columbia University in New York City, not one of the three or four other schools that have Columbia in their name and/or are located in a place called Columbia, and like to be called "Columbia" because it sounds cool. There may be more to do on campus at Florida, but I can assure you that there is more to do in New York City than in Gainesville. You can get a reasonably good education either place, at least if you choose to. If you like beer and football, pick UF. Or if you like running the air conditioning ten months out of the year. If you want the name, or if you want to live in one of the most exciting cities in the world, choose Columbia.

Q: How can I contact the University of Florida's women's wrestling team?
This will tickle you. I saw a team shot of the women from the University of Florida's women's wrestling team. Can anyone tell me if they do exhibition matches as in I'd like to challenge them to a match. A collegiate type match. Rules the whole nine. I have not been in college for a long time. Would I have to be a student? I would be happy to furnish my stats and a photo.

Q: Does the University of Florida require you to take physics to get accepted?
I absolutely HATE science, & I my dream is to go to the University of Florida for college. I know I don't have to take physics to graduate at my school, But I was wondering if University of Florida only accepts people who have taken physics? Or does it not matter? Thanks so much! :)

A: It doesn't matter, Physics is not even a required course anyways. Also, it all depends on what you want to major in as well. I also want to go to UF, but I'm not taking Physics either.

Q: Would you choose University of Florida over Columbia for an undergrad engineering degree?
I am a high school senior who got in both due to early admissions application. I visited both campuses and is leaning towards university of florida because it seems that university of florida students seem more sociable and show more spirit than Columbia students. Also I prefer to go to a smaller setting like gainesville for undergrad before I got to a larger setting for masters or phd.

A: Florida if you're looking for social, Columbia if you're looking for a superior education.

Q: what university do i go to, to become a pilot in florida?
i want to become an airline pilot, what university in florida offer this kind of program apart from embry riddle. What major would i study?

A: Checkout Embry Riddle in daytona

Q: Im a high school senior with a 2.4 gpa what university in florida will accept me?
i have been looking at lynn university and florida atlantic university in boca raton bacause of their rolling admission policy but will they accept me? or what other schools should i apply to with education as my major please answer asap thanks!

A: Colleges weigh heavily on ACT/SAT scores, extra-curriculars, class rank, and GPA. If you are involved in numerous activities, voulnteering, and other activities it serves as an excuse for a low GPA. If you have a low GPA, and no extra actvities you are involved in, you are in bad shape for a university, but I would suggest going to a junior college or community college for a year or two and make good grades, then transfer. This way, you will have a clean slate(considering you make good grades in college) so your transcript will look great, you have taken your basics in a small more intimate environment(much easier for many people), and tuition is of way lower cost than a major university. and when you transfer with a high GPA you will get many scholarship and grant opportunities. I hope this helped some! Good luck!

Q: Information about the University of Florida?
I am a high school senior who is looking into attending the University of Florida. I plan to take the pre dentistry route and I will most likely major in biology. Is this program good at this university? Also, living in Illinois, I cannot view the dorms or the campus until we visit. Which dorm would you recommend is best that freshmen are eligible to have? I am a female so I would love to have my on bathroom or kitchenette (Dream on, i know). And I don't mind with living to 1-3 other people. Thanks!

A: Yeah, bio is really good at UF. UF is considered one of the better schools in all of the country. Its located in the middle of nowhere though. The dorm assignments will probably be determined by some kind of lottery system from the school. Like all universities, you cant really choose which dorm to live in. You can probably state your preferences though and the school will try their best to meet them. Also, UF is a pretty competitive school, so having good grades and a great SAT score will really help your chances.

Q: Is University of Florida worth the effort?
I am thinking about going to a pharmacy college, and my options are Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University and University of Florida. Both schools same hard to me, but I hear that UF is really hard especially since you have to study in groups just to pass the courses over there. I'm just wondering if UF is really worth all the stress when you could just go to FAMU and study just as hard and you can reach a higher rank.

A: I just got into UF and i cant see any reason that it isnt worth the effort, it is an amazing school

Q: Should the University of Utah be crowned 2008 College Football National Champions over Florida & Oklahoma?
They are 13-0 and they beat Alabama by more points than the University of Florida. Florida and Oklahoma are playing for the National Championship with one loss each. They also beat 5 top 25 teams and 3 top 15 teams. Does this prove the need for a playoff?

A: You have to give Utah some consideration because the beat some rated teams and they are 13-0. The BCS is set up really poorly and needs to change to a playoff system.

Q: How many students are at the University of Central Florida main campus in Orlando?
UCF is home to over 40,000 undergraduate students and that is a little too big for me. I know that the Florida State University has over 30,000 students but only about 1/3 of that number actually live on the main campus. Is it the same for UCF? (I'm looking for a good size school, lots of campus life, with good sports and a good party scene) Any other Universities in FL i might be interested in?

A: UCF has only one campus. Some other smaller universities you can take a look at is UNF, UWF, FAU, FIT, FIU

Q: Does the University of Florida offer courses in Website Development or Design?
I read that it does on Colleges.com but I can't find it on the University of Florida's website. I need to know ASAP. Thanks in advance.

A: mmm I didn't find anything about web design in University of Florida. If you're searching for web design degrees in Florida you can take a look at this list http://www.design-training.com/web-design/Florida/

Q: Can anyone tell me, is there any university in Florida that offers Measurement, and Sports PhD?
Preferably near to Orlando, FL I'm currently studying in a prestigious Mid-west university, but I'm hoping to continue my PhD in Florida. Could anyone help?

A: I'm not sure what you mean by Measurement and Sports. Would that be a doctoral program that specializes in measuring things in sports? Psychometrics? Econometrics? Would that be in the Education Department, or perhaps the Sociology Department? Anyway, I'd like to help. My first suggestion would be the University of Florida up in Gainesville. I think out of all the colleges and universities in Florida, they would be most likely to have what you're looking for. That place in huge. After that, look into the University of Central Florida which is right in Orlando. Finally, try Florida State which is way up in Tallahassee. Having said that, it sounds as if you're pursuing a highly specialized field. There might be only a small number of programs for you and, if that's the case, you might have to sacrifice going to school in Florida.

Q: What do you need to do to get into University of Florida?
What do have to do to get into University of Florida?? I'm going into ninth grade and I want everything to be perfect for college, so what GPA do you need? how much comunity service do you need? and what does you SAT score need to be? I want to know everything!

A: I'm linking you to the page at UF about how to prepare for becoming a student there and the page of admission requirements. In addition to everything you see there, you are going to need some luck and maybe a little bit of magic. If you've been reading the newspapers about what is going on in the Florida university system, you already know that budget cuts are causing programs to be eliminated and in some cases the number of students admitted is being limited or cut. Prepare well, but also take a look at your other options just in case. Best of luck to you!
