Q: Have you graduated from University of Phoenix? What was your experience from the education perspective? ?
I will also have no choice but to have financial aid. Currently I have Stafford Loans. How easy/complicated is it to obtain financial aid through Phoenix University?
A: U of Phoenix is regionally accredited, so you will be able to apply for and use student loans there, no problem. You fill out the FAFSA to find out what aid you qualify for, and U of P will help you through the process.
U of P is a lower level university. It's no Harvard, in other words. But it's a real university, and is appropriately accredited. They are real classes, with real teachers.
U of P actually has a MySpace page now. There are forums there where you can ask questions of students and etc. You may be interested, so I'll link you:

Q: Why does University of Phoenix have a bad reputation?
I've recently been hearing that University of Phoenix has a bad reputation. Why? Is their grading off? Is the degree not respected in the professional world?
A: A friend of mine went and she was given low grades on some papers because she had conservative views on the war and didn't agree with her professors. Then, while she was having pregnancy issues and was confined to bed, she missed classes and was dropped from a couple of courses without notice.
Q: How many classes make up a semester at University of Phoenix?
I just started online classes at University of Phoenix, I was informed that my financial aid requires me to complete 8 classes. Does anyone know how long in months that takes to complete?
A: Well, good for you for starting college. Nicely done. Good luck!
U of P - are you at Axia, or U of P itself? If you're at Axia, I believe that each class lasts 9 weeks. At U of P, each class lasts 5 weeks. Depending on how many classes you take per term...
So if you took one class per term, and were at Axia, you'd complete 8 classes in about 6 months, if you take no breaks.
Keep in mind that the classes at U of P and Axia move along more quickly than those at a standard university/college. I mean, at a community college, a semester lasts about 16 weeks - at Axia, it lasts only 9. You do the same amount of work, have the same content to the class, but in a shorter period of time. This is great, because you get more done more quickly, but it also means you need to be on top of your game. Don't let yourself fall behind.
Q: What is the starting wages and hours for a financial rep at University of Phoenix?
I just applied for a position at University of Phoenix as a financial rep. Has anyone worked with the school before? The position is at one of its many branches.
A: this is a hard question looking for a very specific answer, try contacting the universities human resources department and ask them about the salary information .
Q: For those who attend university of phoenix do they allow double majors?
I know that changing majors so late in my program is not a good idea. I just want to know if University of phoenix allows for double majors or a minor with a major?
Let me clarify, I already attend UoP and I just want to know whether I would be able to either pick up a minor or have a double major.
A: Well, you should probably ask your advisor (if you have one), but like most online-only universities, I would assume that if you keep paying the bills, they'll let you take any classes you want to take.
Q: Is any one taking or have took accounting classes at the university of phoenix?
I have taken a couple of regular classes already, I just want to know how are the accounting classes set up. Will I really learn about accounting or just have to answer DQ's. No one can really tell me. Is it worth me continuing my education with University of Phoenix.
A: I am working on a IT degree with UoP. I have heard some bad things about them, but I like it there and have had no problems. Yes! They are accredited to those that say they are not, because I talked to admissions at Oklahoma State University and they told me that yes they will accept UoP credit and they will transfer. I am going for a bachelors degree next. But they do like the money that is something that you have to consider, but if a on line degree is the only way for you like me it is worth it. My father-n-law is in the Army and he had to take on line classes to get a promotion so if a on line degree is good enough for the United States Military then I say it is good enough for me. Most of the bad stuff you hear is from those who went to a different place. If the guy that is hiring at a job got his degree at Harvard he is going to look at some one with a degree from even a brick and mortar community college different. As far a DQ you will have some and some assignments with some on line labs. They say that UoP, but the college algebra about eat me alive!LOL You will be doing a lot of reading about what you are studying and instead of exams or test you will have a big final assignment do at the end of each class that each of your weekly assignments will help you with. Hope it helps!!!
Q: What are the shortest BS degrees one can attain from Phoenix University?
My ultimate goal is to become a nurse. While I wait for admission, I will get my a.a in biotechnology, then I will get my BS in another filed, unless I get accepted first. If I have a BS in another field, I will go into the intensive program for nursing. Whichever happens first. So now I am curious about online degrees that I can get so that I can just move on, and not worry so much about gas.
A: you can get information about online degrees using this website
http://www.freedegreeinfo.ezpagez.com
All you need to do is select degree of interest , to contact university of your choice directly .
Q: Is the University of Phoenix an accredited university?
I have my bachelor's degree, but I decided to take night accounting courses while working over the past few years. I just moved to California from NY and I was told I could take courses at a school out here but now that I am out here, they are saying I cannot (no room in 2 of the 4 courses I wanted to take). I need one of them, so I want to take it online at University of Phoenix. How does it work? And since it's not for a degree and only to fulfill CPA exam credit requirements, I would want to get credit for it.
Oh...and the courses I am taking are just undergrad courses. I got my degree in International Relations and decided to shift gears after college. Oh well.
A: Yes, they are Regionally Accredited.
Regardless of delivery method (on ground, online, hybrid), a higher ed institution in the US can have 3 institutional accreditation statuses.
1. Regionally accredited - the highest and most useful.
2. Nationally accredited - real, but not as recognized or useful. Yes it is less than regional accreditation, which isn't intuitive.
3. Unaccredited
Be sure to check here before you enroll: http://www.chea.org/search/
They are too expensive compared to other options.
Beware of unaccredited schools such as Almeda, Kennedy Western, Warren National University, Rochville University, Trinity Southern (issued a degree to a cat!)
Q: Can I get into the University of Phoenix online grad program?
I have an undergrad degree with a GPA of 2.4. The University of Phoenix admissions requirements state you must have a 2.5. Do I have any chances of still getting in? My graduate degree I would go for would be very closely related to my career I am currently in.
A: just go take a couple of easy transferable classes at a small cheap community college intill you get your GPA up to a 2.5 thats what i did.
I took a class that was easy 3 times and in my college it got me up like nothing made A's and all ready had all the work
Q: I have my GED and decided to become a nurse what courses would i need to take, at Phoenix online university?
I choose that school would be the best because of time, but what other programs would you recommend take i can take, or online courses besides University of Phoenix? Thank you for your time
A: Contact Phoenix or even better your state education department and you will obtain the information./
Q: Is the University of Phoenix Online a legitimate degree?
I was just wondering if anyone had received a degree from the University of Phoenix Online and if it is a real degree or just a certificate? Do employers take this degree seriously? Thanks for any stories or other suggestions!!
A: Legitimate? Yes.
Respectable? No.
The school is accredited. However, it is a For Profit Corporation that costs a lot more than respectable public universities. The school was fined a record $9.8MM last year for sleazy recruiting practices and is currently under investigation for padding their placement numbers.
Employers do not respect people with degrees from the school for two reasons. The first is that the school accepts nearly everyone. The lack of standards makes it hard for people to know what they are getting. The second is that it is felt that the classes taught there are light on the material.
Companies like Intel have recently decided that they will not pay for employees to take classes there because they lack rigor.
Q: Master of Arts in Special Education from the University of Phoenix?
How legitimate is a Master of Arts in Special Education from the University of Phoenix? I have heard that receiving a degree from them is good and bad. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!
A: Well, they're NOT just a diploma mill, they are accredited - at least for some programs.
The bad is that they're not respected, and you do end up sitting in front of a computer for hours on end to learn. If you can go to a physical school, you really ought to.
You'll have to do student teaching in a real classroom anyway, so at least you'll get some learning that's not just online. And you'll have to get state licensing. Once you have that, the demand for special ed teachers should be great enough that where you got the degree won't matter. Of course, once you have some experience teaching, it won't matter at all. Your on-the-job performance will be what matters.
Q: what the international ranking of university of Phoenix?
I am studying MBA at university of Phoenix, Vancouver Campus, and I want to know what the international ranking for UOP.
A: It's not accredited(?). There are plenty of non-traditional programs that are superior to that one. As a child of someone in academia and head of graduate studies, I can tell you that degree is only going to get you so far. Think about looking at other programs.
Q: Has anyone ever had a hard time getting a job with a University of Phoenix bachelor's degree?
I want to get a bachelor's degree in human services but have been told employers will be less likely to hire someone with a degree from University of Phoenix. Any opinions?
A: I have recently graduated from UOP online with a MBA. My experience was positive. I feel that I have accomplished much. However, from the posts that I read, UOP is not considered to be a valid University. Also, many statements have been made regarding the validity of the degree and its acceptance. Well, this prompted me to do research. Following are highlights from my research:
1. In my city UOP is accepted by employers because of the brick and mortar presence.
2. I did a search in Google using "MBA from University of Phoenix". I found that many people have received degrees from UOP and are professors, executives, or lawyers. In addition, many have parlayed MBAs from UOP into PhDs. See the following example:
Born in a small South Dakota town, M. Tilden Moschetti's life journey thus far has held many twists and turns up and down the western United States. Before practicing law, he has worked in areas of management, finance, information systems, and business process improvement in businesses from small to Fortune 500, from private sector to public. M. Tilden Moschetti holds a Juris Doctor from the University of San Francisco School of Law, an MBA from University of Phoenix, and a BS from University of Oregon. He is a member of the American Bar Association, acts as an executive of the Small Firm Section of the California Bar, and holds professional memberships in the groups such as the Association for Conflict Resolution and San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association.

Do this search. You will find there are pages and pages of people who have received a degree from UOP. Many of these people have gone on to do greate things
Q: Does university of Phoenix online operate through the Netherlands?
I have a friend in Africa who applied to go to UOP, and has told me that she is dealing with people in the netherlands. Does university of Phoenix have a branch in the Netherlands to which they send their international applicants?
A: Yes they have international branches/
