Q: What online universities do not have a set schedule?
I'm looking for online universities that do not have a set schedule. My work week can be forty or eighty hours, so a typical class schedule doesn't work for me, so a setting where I can work at my own pace would be nice.
Any recommendations?
A: Brigham Young University - http://ce.byu.edu/is/site/courses/select.cfm?type=univ
Louisiana State University - http://is.lsu.edu/
Neither offer a full online degree though. Take your coursework at one of these and then transfer it to one of the 'Big Three' (now four) regionally accredited colleges that accept high levels of transfer credit.
Excelsior College - http://www.excelsior.edu
Thomas Edison State College - http://www.tesc.edu
Charter Oak State College - http://www.cosc.edu
Athabasca University - http://www.athabascau.ca/
You could take some courses at any of these but BYU and LSU are much less expensive and aren't on a set timeline.
These 'Big Three' also accept high levels of credit by examination (if you have the knowledge and can pass the exams):
CLEP http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/clep/about.html
DANTES http://www.getcollegecredit.com/
ECE http://www.dantes.doded.mil/Dantes_Web/examinations/ECE.htm
You are not restricted to those "as seen on TV" colleges - there are some really good schools teaching online these days.
Q: do i need an i-20 to apply to online universities?
Hi! Im an international student and Im planning on transferring universities because the one I enrolled in was not accredited. The problem is if I cancel my enrollment, my i-20 (and student visa) would be revoked. Do online universities require I-20s also? I would prefer to stay here in california while pursuing my masters program from an online university and if they do require an i-20, I can easily apply for a new one. Thanks in advance!
A: Let me clarify, you applied to a non-accredited school, got an I-20 from said school and got an F1 visa. Now you are in the States, you want to apply to an online university?
If this is the case then I have bad news for you; conditions of your F1 visa state that one must attend a physical campus and be enrolled in an actual school and under F1 status you must take a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester and only three of those credit hours per semester can be taken online.
You are now probably thinking "why?"-- well the answer is simple, if you want to attend an online school, then you can do that from your home country, there is no reason for you to be in the United States to take online classes.
You either continue with your current school or look for an accredited school enroll into.
Q: What are some good online universities to get your master's?
I have a very busy and hectic schedule and I want to be a school counselor, so I can't go to class (i'm married and we're saving for a house). I want to get the ball rolling to go ahead and start my online studies to get a master's....the only way I can do it is online...what are some good online universities to get a master's? I'm in Nashville, TN
A: Nova Southeastern - it is a real school, not a for-profit degree churn.
Q: Why Are People So Distrustful Of Online Universities?
Even if they are accredited by the Department of Education, people say about every single online university i have looked into, they are "scam" or a "diploma mill". Is it not possible to learn if you try it in a non-traditional or new way?
A: Unfortunately there has been a lot of scams in this area, so people become skeptical right off. However, if you do your research and find that they have all of their required credentials and they're up-to-date then you should be fine.
Q: What are the best Online Universities?
I am currently enrolled a the University of Phoenix and I am not sure I made the best decision. Does anyone know if there are any better Online Universities?
A: From what I have heard UOP is not a good school. As an enrollment counselor for Grand Canyon University, I have ran into some students that have been cheated out of money and some of the counselors are not very nice. I have done some research and the top online colleges (not in any order) are:
Grand Canyon University
DeVry University
Kaplan University
University of Phoenix
Ashford University
Q: What are the top online universities?
I would like to know what are the top online universities when comparing price range, schedule flexibility and program options. I am graduating soon from a community college and i want to pursue to get my Bachelors degree, so i would like to ask people who attended or are currently attending online universities their experiences and what they feel are good options. If you have any other websites that have a lot of options or informations, i would be so very grateful if you could post that information.
Thanking You
A: Online degrees are also value able and help you to build your career if you are learning degree from top accredited online university or top accredited online college. You did not mention your are of interest. But for you reference here I am forwarding you some website links that amy be useful for you. The links are
Q: I want to go back to school, but how much do online universities cost?
Is there a website that compares semester hour costs of online universities? I tried requesting information from a few awhile back, but all they did was hound me with emails and phone calls. I just want a simple website that I can reference if there is one.
A: I don't know of a website that compares a bunch of them. Those online schools put tons of pressure on you to join and they don't really care about your education. It's almost a scam. You should be careful and really try to go to a real school. Your degree will mean more to employers if it came from a real school too.
Q: which are best online universities or colleges in Wisconsin?
which are the best universities or colleges in wisconsin state in or near Milwaukee that offer online courses?
A: Your state universities and community colleges will offer online courses. These will be fully accredited, they won't scream "Online college" on a transcript, and they'll be less expensive. That's what you want--unless you're a glutton for punishment...
Q: Has anybody attended any online universities? I'm looking for the best and most affordable online school!?
I have re-searched a few online schools such as University of Phoenix, Ashford and several others. I just don't know which to select from. I do know that some of them are more expensives than others. My questions to you, should you decide to help, do you personally have attened an online school?
A: Phoenix, Ashford and many others which offer accelerated online degree programs - treat them with great suspicion. Unless you have already got advanced certificates or diplomas in relevant subjects an accelerated degree program can only work by leaving out a considerable amount of essential work that should go towards the making of your degree.
Colleges which offer to get you through their degree course in only a few terms are essentially degree mills. Be very, very careful.
I would not take an online degree course with any American college or University. There are one or two, such as Lampeter (University of Wales) and the Open University in the UK that I would be happy with. And they do not do accelerated courses. Far from it, their online courses are very comprehensive and demanding.
Q: Are there any good cheap online universities in America?
I'll move to the US in July and might want to start getting a degree. Anybody knows of a good online place? I want to work besides studying, so I am not that good for day-to-day college life.
A: There is:
Kaplan University
University of Pheonix
DeVry Universtiy
Walden University
Everest University Online
I'd suggest you go to this site, fill in the appropriate information, and they will take you to the right college for you

A: Try here

Q: Can anyone recommend me good online Universities?
By recommendation I mean, if possible experience with that/those universities and the rankings and the teaching abilities.
Please help, urgent, I'm in a dilemma!!
I want online universities which has Humanities, Classical studies, Ancient History and/or psychology too!!! thanks
A: The only reputable online college programs are those offered through actual, real live, brick and mortar universities.
And the only online course offerings in the areas you mention are provided by state universities. (U Phoenix does not offer study in most of these areas.)
If you are in the US, look at your state university first. If it does not have a "distance education" program, then look at other major state universities.
Here are some superb links to guide you toward finding the right state university distance education program for you.
Q: Do Online Universities look good to Employers?
I have an Associate Of Science Degree in Film from Full Sail Real World Education, which is a Film School in Florida. I got the Degree from their 13 month Degree program. Since I've graduated I haven't had much luck finding film jobs. I've heard that Full Sail doesn't look to good on my resume to employers. I've been thinking about doing some online courses since I work full-time now. Has anyone had any experience with these online Universities?
A: Online Universities are better than nothing - but a "real" school (even if they are offering online courses) is given more consideration.
Check with your local community colleges - the problem you are likely to find is that many of the courses don't transfer well. But, a "regular" AA is likely to get you more jobs.
(Sorry, that's the dirty secret these online places don't want you to know!)
Best of luck & do get your degree - it's good for you in the long run!!!
Q: What "Real" Colleges/Universities offer online or corespondance degrees?
I am looking to go back to school for a BS and I would like to receive my degree from a school that doesn't advertise during daytime TV. Does anyone know of any "real" colleges that offer distance learning or something like that? I would just go to my local university (UNLV), but I don't have the time, so online education is my best option. Also "Real" colleges seem to be cheaper, as opposed to "for profit" schools like University of Phoenix and so on. I understand that some online universities are accredited regionally, but I still would prefer a University of (Name of state or city) Any Ideas? And any info on any credit per test like CLEP would be apprecated. Thanks!!!!
A: Re: regional accreditation. That's what you want - that's higher than national accreditation and is what UNLV has. I know, it doesn't sound logical, but it's the way it is. There's no reason not to pick a school with a good reputation, there are plenty of options out there now but regional accreditation is almost essential in the choice.
Re: CLEP - all the information you need can be found on the College Board website. Be careful though, not all schools accept all tests and some have credit limits. This isn't the easy way to go - it's just like walking into Psych 240 on the last day of class and just taking the final exam.
http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/clep/about.html
Very many state universities offer degree wholly online now.
One that comes to mind as a good possibility for you is the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV)
http://distance_ed.unlv.edu/cp/cp_home.html
They offer a BA in Social Studies online and I've never seen them on daytime television.
UNev Reno offers a bunch of online courses that all of the UNev campuses will accept in transfer.
just an idea for a starting place.
If you define a specific major, we might be able to point you to some even better ideas. :-)
Q: What are the most respected online universities teaching Zoology?
I am looking for a program that can be done solely online, but is also well respected so as to get a good job in the field after college
A: Information is below.
