Q: Is it hard to get into The University of North Carolina?
I want to go to the University of North Carolina in Wilmington, North Carolina. I am still browsing my options, but I am curious. Is it very competitive, or is it pretty easy to get in. Please only reply with actual info instead of just a Yes or No. Thanks!
I dont live in NC, I live in CT .. how much money would I have to pay extra since I am a out of state student. And how much harder is it harder to get enrolled since I am from CT?
A: The acceptance rate is about 55%, they take ~4500 per year. If you have a good gpa and test scores you should be fairly safe, but you should have a backup.

What would I have to do to get into University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill out of state? Like GPA, extracurricular activities, etc. Thanks!
A: Admission to UNC is VERY competitive. The average GPA (based on a 4.0 scale) for the incoming class of 2008 was a 4.4 (meaning that you have to take a lot of advanced 4 credit classes and get As)!!! 88.7% had GPA of 4.0 or higher.

sport, or served as class, club, or student-body president
62.0% participated in music, drama, or other arts
Q: What is the address of the new student book selling website for North Carolina State University?
I am looking to sell some books and can't find the address.
It's a website that is not associated with the university, they had posters up on campus advertising it.
A: http://www.fis.ncsu.edu/ncsubookstores/textbooks.html#GBE
is the best I could find. I'm not going to NCSU, so I'm not quite sure if this is what you meant.
Q: University North Carolina Chapel Hill Marine Biology Waiver?
I live in Tennessee, and no marine biology programs are offered in the state. I have heard that if no colleges or universities offer what you want to major in, you can get a waiver and go somewhere and get in state tuition. I am wondering if UNC Chapel Hill offers this.
Thanks so much!
A: I didn't know UNC-CH even had marine biology. Are you sure that they do??
UNC-Wilmington does...it's on the coast so it's an obvious match.
Q: Is it hard to get into North Carolina University?
A: Do you mean UNC in Chapel Hill? My son goes there...he will be a senior. Also, out of state. His girlfriend was wait listed twice even though her dad was a huge football star (later pro), mom and sister went there. Her SAT, GPA and activities were all top flight. So...yes, it is VERY hard to get in if you don't live in NC. They have a very large in-state % for freshmen. Good Luck! Go Heels!
Q: What do you thinl about NORTH CAROLINA state university ENGINEERING program?
A: One of the best.
Q: University of Alabama or North Carolina State University?
Which college should I attend to?
University of Alabama? or North Carolina State University
I am current nc resident so I can pay instate tuition for ncsu.
Please tell me your opinion thank you
A: Let's start out with the obvious - by official state legislative statute (Alabama Code 16-64), non-state residents are required to pay tuition fees that are "at least twice that of resident student tuition".
If you are thinking that you can start at Alabama as a non-resident, and later qualify as a state resident - that's really unlikely. Not impossible, but highly unlikely. For one thing, as is the case in almost every state, an individual can never qualify for state residency in Alabama if their primary purpose in moving to the state is to obtain an education.
Here's the exact statement of the rule:
"Persons in Alabama primarily for the purpose of obtaining an education are presumed to be non-resident students"
So how much will you pay to attend school in Alabama as a non-resident? About $29,000 a year, when you include tuition, fees, books, room and board, and your other miscellaneous college expenses.
What would it cost you to attend NCSU as an NC resident? About $11,000 a year.
Do the math. You can spend $116,000 for a college degree at UA or $44,000 for a college degree at NCSU.
Why not save the extra $72,000 and buy a Porsche 911 Carrera?
Come to think of it - since I assume you won't be paying cash for your college education - by the time you pay the interest on the $72,000 loan over 10 years, you might as well buy yourself - oh - I don't know - how about something like a townhouse or a condo?
I wouldn't think twice about attending an out of state university unless there was enough scholarship money on the table to make the costs somewhat comparable. Do you REALLY want to pay $18,000 a year more than everyone else in the same classroom as you?
Would you pay $18,000 more for the same car that I drive?
Good luck.
Q: What classes does the university of north carolina offer?
Do they offer astronomy or anything to do with animals if not what is a good paying job that they offer.
A: Yes, they do offer classes on astronomy and zoology. You can go on the website and look. They offer a lot of classes (majors) that will get you a good paying jobs like pre-law, biology pre-med, etc.
Q: What is the best university in North Carolina to attend for elementary education?
Please note, I am looking specifically for schools that are ranked highly for ELEMENTARY EDUCATION... Not simply any high ranked school. Thank you
A: The easiest way to find out info is to find a student. You can locate some contact information for North Carolina universities here. http://www.collegereviewed.com/North-Carolina-Colleges-Universities.html The students always seem to know what's going on since they spend so much time on campus.
Q: Is the University of North Carolina Greensboro close to a beach?
If not what are the names of the cities closest to the beach.
A: Lol, no! I'm thinking of going there... Our state is a long one, and it's a few hours from the sand... But the University system here is great! Definitley check out Wilmington if you're looking for close to the beach, but also Raliegh, Chapel Hill, and Charlotte are good, as well as Winston-Salem, and my hometown of Asheville.
Q: What do you think about the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and its marine biology program?
I'm a sophomore in high school and I want to go there for their undergrad program and maybe later get my master's there. Does anyone know much about it?
A: UNCW is best-known for it's marine biology program.
It's supposedly really great and one of the best on the east coast.
Not only can you get your master's in marine biology from there but also your PhD.
UNCW was second behind UNCCH for best public universities in NC according to Forbes.
It was also either in the top 5 or top 10 best colleges in the south, public or private, according to US News & World Report rankings.
They're tier 1, so yeah, they're a good school.
Q: What are your thoughts on the University of North Carolina - Wilmington?
I just recently started looking into that college and I think I might like it a lot. I was just wondering if it's actually a good school. You can't really tell from the website because of course they are only gonna post the positives.
A: I've heard that it has an awesome program in marine biology. And if you watch reruns of Dawson's Creek you will get some idea of the town, D.C. was filmed there. So, too, was the short-lived TV show Surface. Your decision about where to go to college should be based on what the school has to offer in the subject you want to study. And if you haven't decided on a major, stay at home and work at Burger King, or join the military, or attend your local community college. The worse mistake recent high school graduates make is going off to college without knowing why they are spending BIG BUCKS on classes that may not be relvant to their interests. Yes, I know, every school has general education requirements, but the least expensive way to take care of these is at your local community college.
Q: What should I major in at University Of North Carolina Chapel Hill if I want to go to med school?
UNC has alot of majors. I thought about majoring in chemistry, but I need some more opinion.
A: Medical school (and advisers) will always tell you that they neither prefer nor recommend any particular major over another. Your undergraduate major choice should not depend on your desire to go to medical school, but what inherently interests you. There are quite a few premeds who choose to major in fields outside of science that, along with their major requirements, complete premed required courses.
That being said, if you are interested/feel you would enjoy biology (or a similar major) it can make the process of completing your undergraduate degree easier. In most schools, requirements for completing a biology degree are very similar (if not identical) to the required courses for med school (general chemistry, organic chemistry, general biology, general physics, calculus etc). This sort of allows you to kill two birds with one stone. If you choose to major in something else, you'll be required to complete these courses along with your other major requirements. Also, biology majors are often required to take advanced courses (e.g. biochemistry, cell biology, physiology), which can help better prepare you for the MCAT beyond what is taught in the general biology class.
Ultimately, your major should reflect what you're legitimately interested in. It may even work to your advantage to be a chemistry major in a sea of biology majors.
Q: How is the UNCC (University of North Carolina at Charlotte) architecture program?
I am a freshman at NC State but I am thinking about becoming a transfer to UNCC next semester to major in architecture. I like it here at State though, and don't want to transfer unless the program is really worth it. Thanks for any info.
Yeah I know State has the best but I didn't have enough hours last semester to be considered for architecture. So it is either stay here another year undecided and apply next year or go to UNCC.
A: I heard that the Architecture program at State is the best in North Carolina.
But the program at UNC Charlotte looks decent,
if you're looking for the better program, then go with State.
If you're looking for a new environment then UNC Charlotte would be worth it.
