Q: Is it worth doing distance MBA from Manipal University?
I am planning to do distance MBA with a Specialisation in Marketing. As per ma search i have three options to do the same from IGNOU, Manipal & Madhura University, as in I can afford from either of these Universities. Kindly help me in deciding which University I should opt for, or is there any other better options available.

A: It may be worthwhile. but there are many distance learning programs, so you should compare them before you settle on one. Consult the Official MBA Guide. It's a comprehensive free public service with more than 2,000 MBA programs listed worldwide. It allows you to search for programs by location (US, Europe, Far East, etc.), by concentration (finance, marketing, aviation management, health management, accounting, etc.), by type of program (full-time, distance learning, part-time, etc), and by listing your own criteria and preferences to get a list of universities that satisfy your needs. You can use the Guide to contact schools of your choice, examine their data, visit their web site, and send them pre applications. You can see lists of top 40 schools ranked by starting salaries of graduates, GMAT scores, and other criteria. It's the best service available at http://officialmbaguide.org.

Q: The Vancouver Island University MBA program in Canada?
has any one heard of this MBA program? vancouver island university was previously known as malaspina university. i'm assuming its underrated given that many have never heard of it but is it really true that graduates from this program barely get jobs? is it recognized in canada..and given that canada dosent rate its busniess schools...is this MBA worth getting after all....any info on this mysterious university and program will be appreicated..also does any one here knows of any one who might have graduated from this uni with the MBA degree?

A: Yeah, I'm from the Island, and I'm not going to lie. It was the school we all joked about. The school that would accept your deceased cat Fluffy if you filled out the application. The place you went if you failed out of all other BC universities. Low standards. It's your average community-college style place. They renamed it to get rid of that bias, but it's still pretty prevalant, at least where I lived. It's recognized. It's not got an oustanding reputation where people will automatically say "Oh, UBC or McGill" or whatnot. But they do recognize the degree. I don't really think Royal Roads is a viable alternative to 'Pina though. They're not really in the same place. VIU is upisland. In Naniamo. A 2 hour drive north. Royal Roads is in the south Island. If you're looking to be in the north, VIU is pretty much the only way to go. If you're looking at the Island in general, UVIC is definately your best bet, Royal Roads and Camosun are also there though.

Q: im planning to immegrate to Canada.whether MBA from Sikkim manipal university is valid (distance education)?
As im planning to immegrate to Canada,i wish to admit at sikkim manipal university's MBA course.my question is either it is valid in Canada?

A: You will have to submit your qualifications to find out for sure, but in many countries online degrees are not recognized. There is no way to know about yours. Here is the link to the Canadian immigration site. You would have to find out from those officials whether or not that degree and university are recognized. Best of luck with your plans.

Q: Studying MBA by distance learning at the university of Northampton UK?
I would like to know if it is worth studying MBA at the university of northampton by distance learning since the course hasn't been accredited by any professional association. Please advice.

A: Before schools can be accredited they have to exist for a given number of eyars and have to satisfy accreditation sstandards. Therefore at some point they have to be good before they are accredited. It is therefore important to evaluate the program to determine its quality. Lack of accreditation does not always meen poor quality. Before you consider an MBA program consult the Official MBA Guide, a comprehensive free public service with more than 2,000 MBA programs listed worldwide. You can see lists of top 40 schools ranked by starting salaries of graduates, GMAT scores, and others. It's the best service available at http://officialmbaguide.org. Northampton is not a member of the Official MBA Guide. It would be in their interest to join because it enables prospective students to evaluate their offerings and compare with other schools. If you contact them, you can help them by mentioning the Guide and suggesting they consider joining.

Q: Can I apply for MBA in a US university after two years of work experience and an online MBA?
Can I apply for MBA in a US university after two years of work experience and an online MBA? Or do institutions accept online MBAs (from a valid university ) for applications for Phd?

A: You already have an MBA? What's wrong with it--was it from an accredited university? Generally you can apply as an MBA student if you have completed a bachelor's degree from an accredited school. Moreover, if you hold an MBA from one accredited school, I don't expect that you'd be admitted for a second MBA. It's a case of apparently needless duplication. If the first MBA wasn't accredited then it's not a concern. If you're in want of better graduate education, and you already hold a valid MBA, consider going for the PhD.

Q: How reputable is an MBA from University of Phoenix?
Don't see it in any of the MBA program rankings, and just wondering if it's a worthwhile program.

A: I graduated from the University of Phoenix MBA program. I started a new position that doubled my income almost immediately. Several of my classmates seemed to have the same success. You must realize that UOP is the largest university in the United States and is accredited throughout the country, not regionally. Before attending UOP I graduated with my BA at a State University. I found UOP just as challenging and expensive as state schools. My last point I want to make is that UOP's advertising has hurt the schools image. It is not as easy as it may seem to get into such a school. I worked very hard for my degree and I would recommend it to anyone that is considering an MBA.

Q: Will MBA correspondence from any university be a valid qualification to be a lecturer in Management ?
I want to be a lecturer in Management in Nagpur. Presently I am BE Electronics and have around 10 yrs of working experience. ( first 5 years in industrial marketing and last 5 years I am running my own recruitment firm). I am looking for opportunity of lectureship in local b-schools to teach marketing management. What qualification is needed ? Is an MBA correspondence from any university valid ? Please guide me.

A: Whether your MBA degree is full-time, part-time, distance learning, or other, it is granted by the school as an MBA and does not say MBA full-time, or MBA part-time, etc. Therefore it does not matter in what type of program you earned it, but it matters from which school you received it. Some programs are better than others, some have good reputations, and some are worthless. Whether the MBA qualifies you to lecture depends on the requirements of the school where you wish to work. The better universities require a Ph.D. but many schools have no choice but to hire people with a masters degree. Before you consider which MBA program is for you, consult the Official MBA Guide, a comprehensive free public service with more than 2,000 MBA programs listed worldwide. Q: Krannert School of Management at Purdue University MBA?
Krannert School of Management at Purdue University has a pretty good ranking for their business programs although not on par with Wharton, Chicago or Berkley. As a recruiter in the finance field, how would they view a MSF ( Master in Finance) degree from Krannert? Would it hold any prestige. MSF is a new program at Krannert starting this year, would that affect the marketability of the degree? I want to weight all the pros and cons before I make a decision since it's fairly expansive for a one year program at a public university.

A: Krannert is a great school. The Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern is better. If you're concerned about prestige, just know that Purdue, Northwestern, UPenn, Harvard, and UChicago tend to be the top five chosen by most rankings. I'm not sure about for MSF but overall, the name will get you in most any door.

Q: University of Wales Online MBA or Leicester's Distance Learning?
I am a non UK resident trying to finish my Master's. There is so much of 'Bombardment' of offers from UK's universities here and I am having hard time to chose one. Can anyone from UK tell me the reputation of the 2 schools I am considering to go to? I am assuming that both schools are recognized worldwide, including U.S & Canada?? (University of Wales Online MBA, or University of Leicester's Distance learning MBA). I have an average income and there is a HUGE difference in cost of the 2 schools, and I need to make sure that I am making a good investment. Appreciate any sincere advice or guidance. Thank You, Ricky

A: i don't know about the university of wales online mba, but i can tell you that the leicester distance learning programme is a very excellent one and the structure of the programme is very will designed.

Q: What colleges in London offer the University of Leicester MBA ?
I've heard the Leicester distance MBA is pretty good and very marketable abroad, what colleges in London offer this distance learning MBA? And is the Leicester MBA really that good in comparison to other Universities.i.e the support given by distance tutors, materials, books etc?

A: Check the University of leicester management centre webpage, email them or call them up if you're in the UK. http://www.le.ac.uk/ulsm/dl_mba.html I would advise you though not to expect much administrative guidance coz some of the people in the school of management are the least helpful you'll ever come across, (i know this through experience) they do however provide sufficent books etc. Why not try the Univeristy of Sunderland their MBA comes with a Masters Diploma too something Leicester dont give.
