A: not that hard. like 15 people from my school just got in and most of them aren't exactly that smart. probably Bs
Q: What are the main differences between working in a US and UK University/College?
I am moving to the US to continue my academic career (I have visa etc.), what are the main differences?
A: From what I've heard, the way classes are structured in the two countries is very different, although there's also a good deal of variety within the US depending on whether you're at a community college, a liberal arts college or a research university.
For the first two, teaching is the priority and you'll probably have at least three classes to teach per semester (including some basic courses because there are no grad students) but few expectations in terms of research.
At a research university, you'll probably teach two classes per semester (or sometimes 2&3), each of which will meet up to three times a week. Here they will usually all be upper-level because grad students and/or adjuncts tend to teach introductory classes. Independent or small group study is rare, although if your dept. has a Ph.D. program you'll eventually have some dissertations to direct and read. Class sizes vary, but quite likely larger than you're used to. However, having fewer sessions to teach will give you more time to keep up with your research.
You will probably also be asked to take on some kind of administrative responsibilities in addition to your teaching, research and advisory roles. If it's a very small department, you may be asked to do things you wouldn't expect, such as teach something in a field that's only vaguely linked to yours. But while a lot, I don't gather that (in general) the workload here is any greater than in the UK.
Good luck!
Q: What is an e-commerce ?and what are the main requirements to study it at university?
I have a dgree in Math and I want to resume my education to get master degree in e-commerce. In less than a year I am looking to start but I want to get ready before that and not sure about admission requitments.
A: E-Commerce means "ELECTRONIC COMMERCE".
You do any kind of business thru internet, so you do not need to open a store or office. Can be done at home even on your spare time. Don't need to haver any degree. Just commun sense of business and be aware of fraud and thieves.
Q: What does the main statue at the University of Redlands signify?
A: Is it the statue which honors those widows and orphans of fallen soldiers. It is called the Widows and Orphans statue in the park?
Q: is the University of Houston main campus called clear lake?
Or university park?
A: UHCL is used by people living and working in the clear lake area to get their bachelors, masters and PhD's.
They accept students with at least 60 credit hours or a degree from an accredited college/university.
A lot of people go to San Jacinto College, then to UHCL. They call it the "2+2" program, where you do two years at a community college and two years at a university.
Q: What is the main difference between a college and a university?
A: Now-days in practice - none. Historically a University also conferred higher degrees like PhD's and Masters while colleges didn't. But over time so many institutions broke with the convention it is now pretty meaningless
Thanks
Bill
Q: Is it hard to get into PENN STATE UNIVERSITY MAIN?
A: Alright. I have a 4.5 grade point average.
I was involved in a lot of activities.
I did volunteer work, but I got a 17 on my ACTs, and I got in.
does that help?
Q: i want to know the cheap and best place place to live near main universities, brisbane?
actually iam a student and very soon coming to brisbane for studies, so i want know the cheap and best located place near main universities, brisbane?
A: The universities are not located close to each other, so there is no one place you can live which is going to be close to them.
Can you give us some more information such as which uni you have chosen, or at least tell us what you're studying?
Q: What is the main major offered at Johns Hopkins University?
Does anyone know where i can find a list of all the possible majors?
A: There isn't one. There are hundreds of majors listed at http://www.johnshopkins.edu/index1.html
Q: What are the main drivers of your choice when you decide on your major at university?
Would it be high wages, career opportunities, high social status or your likes of the subject?
A: In life you have to do what you love most. The only problem is, as a career you have to do what gets you paid. Don't sweat the social status stuff. Its not how you should set goals. Try to find a balance of the other three, because they are all important.
Example; I love science and helping people. When I got to college I started as pre-med. Then when I realized that priority #1 was study, and not party, I changed my major to Biology. Today I work for a pharmacuetical company. It science, I'm helping people, I get paid well, people will always need drugs so jobs are not hard to find, and all this makes me happy.
My wife, threater major, wanted to be an actress. Tough career road, she got one or two jobs as an actress and now shes...well not acting. So career opps are important too.
The most important thing in life is do what makes you happy. When choosing a career have that in mind because when the fun in college ends you'll be (in some way) applying what you learned in college FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. Or at least 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.
Q: Is the main campus library at the University of Texas-Austin open to the public? Where exactly is it?
I need a place to work tomorrow while I'm in Austin and I'd rather work at a quiet place that has WiFi instead of going to a Starbucks.
A: Argh, I think it's on San Jacinto. It's diagonally across the street from the Rec center and across the street from McCombs.
