Q: Does anyone know of any college universities that will allow a reptile like a Bearded Dragon? ?
Hi, I'm 16 years old, and thinking about adopting a bearded dragon. the only problem is in 2 years (dragons live for 10) i am going to move away for college and i am trying to look for "pet friendly" universities that i can apply for. This will be a great help if any of you guys can find a good college with "pet friendly" housing. It is greatly appreciated.
A: I know K-State allows Bearded Dragons. I kept my Bearded Dragon with me in the dorms there. There was also a girl with a bird and another with some Chinchillas. They are a vet school, so they are pretty animal-friendly.
I wouldn't recommend sneaking them in. If there are fire drills (which happens pretty often in a college dorm) people go in and look in your room, and they'd find them and kick you out of the dorm, and possibly out of the college.
Q: Why do you need to autonomous at college/universities?
My teacher has expressed importance of working autonomous in college, but I don't understand why.
Can someone please explain?
A: I have never heard of such thing until now.

I'm looking at the following colleges:
University of Georgia (Athens, GA)
University of Iowa (Iowa City, IA)
Georgia Institute of Technology (Atlanta, GA)
Pennsylvania State University (State College, PA)
University of Illinois (Champaign, IL)
Can you tell me what each college is known for academically? (for example, such-and-such is known for mechanical engineering) Any extra info is greatly appreciated.

Q: Are there any good art majored college/universities in New York?
I like Columbia and NYU, are they good choices for art though?
A: Yeah in addition to the schools Ringading mentioned above there is also the Pratt Institute, Cooper Union, and the School for Visual Arts.
Q: do you need legal papers to apply for college/universities?
i know there is alot of people in my school without legal papers, and some of them are graduating high school, but i wanted to know if you need those papers to apply for college?
A: Most colleges are now requiring proof of legal residency.
There are a few hold out states that allow in-state college tuition for illegals but it is likely that will stop as citizens demand that we stop giving yet more of our tax dollars to illegals. By rewarding/encouraging their illegal acts they will only continue them.
Q: Do selective universities look more at the high school grades or your grades at a community college?
I did absolutely horrible my second semester of junior year and all of senior year because of the problems I was having in my family. I'm going to a community college and I'm planning to work very hard while I'm there. I plan on applying for selective universities/colleges after my two years at a cc. I know they consider both the high school transcripts and how well you did at a community college, but which one do the universities look at more when deciding whether or not to admit them? Even if I do great at a cc, do I have slim chances of getting into selective schools because of my high school grades? Also, when is the best time to transfer: after one year at cc or two years, and why? Please help me. Thanks in advance.
A: As a general rule the most recent grades count the most, and grades in a CC would count for far more than those in high school. One of the reasons CCs exist is to allow students who did poorly in high school a second chance. Most big state university systems are compelled to accept transfer students who do well in CC. Usually the rules favor admission after two years in a CC. The rules at private schools are a bit different, but in general doing well in a CC program will give you a good shot at admission to a selective college in your junior year even if your high school record was poor or spotty.
Q: Are colleges or Universities handling this inapproprate behavior better than my college?
I have attended my college for about a year and a half. And, I noticed that the college has a regulation that they put on the syllabus regarding using cell phones at class. Almost every syllabus says turn it off or put it on vibrate. However, whenever, I'm in class, I usually hear a cell phone go off. And, it is rarely on vibrate. The professors at my college rarely says anything about it.
Also, I have been noticing in one of my classes this semester, some students are playing with their cell phones or using text messaging during class. I always turn mine off during class because I feel it is proper etiquite to do so. I feel it is totally unacceptable to use your cell phone during class or even have it on unless it is an emergency. I was wondering if any colleges or Universities have stricter regulations on the useage of cell phones during classes?
A: Following the practice of "Look for issues that are important enough to fight for and issues easy enough to win."
My students notice that I have taken cell phones and have turned them into the office, doing it once or twice at the start of the semester, doing it calmly without showing anger, students get the hint.
Q: Can Courses be transferred from Moraine Valley College to universities in Indiana?
I want to enrol in a community college but none near my home offer my intended majors. Can courses like biology and psychology n their credits be transferred to universities like Purdue Calumet and U of C and UIC??..I'm in dire need of help. Please answer asap:)!!
A: It depend on the standards of the university. Usually, general education courses are credited but it would depend on the grade you got. As long as the course title and description matches, it should be credited. Other universities will require you to take validation exams. Contact the registrar's office of the university you are transerring to. You also need to get a copy of the courses required to earn a particular degree so you would know what you have already taken and what you need to take.
Q: American Universities look at College or High School GPA?
Well, I live in Canada, but am planning to go to university in the States. When you apply, do the universities look at your College or High School GPA?
A: Most students in America enter university straight out of high school - our system is a bit different. 4-year colleges and universities offer the same degrees, it's just a matter of size of the school and public vs. private. If you want to come to school here, you probably don't have to start college in Canada.
Q: What goes on at college/universities?
I'm still in high school, but I wanna what college/universities are like? What do you do there besides study and go to classes? Is it like high school? How's it different? I don't really think college is like how they say it is in movies or tv shows.
A: Some people use their freedom to act like they're 12.
Some people act like fashion models.
Some people get drunk all the time.
Some people get really religious, one way or another.
A lot of people are night students who lost their passion for life a long time ago.
You'll learn that you're the only person in the world who cares about yourself, and everyone only cares about themselves.
Q: what college or universities to go to to become a computer repair technician in L.A Area?
i was wondering what colleges in the L.A area offer majors in computer repair. Does calstate la have any? Does ITT tech? Devry? Recommend me some schools that I can earn a BS Degree. or recommend me where to go after high school PCC or a community college then transfer or something else.
A: If you want to become a technician, find a school that offers CompTIA A+ certification. I am pretty sure PCC has a program and if you are a legal CA resident, it is very cheap (less than $100 plus parking). Don't go to a private place because it is real expensive.
But may I ask, why a techician? Most people rather buy a new computer these days than get it fixed. If you want to get hired, go for CCNA certification offered at CSULA and PCC (PCC is cheaper). You can actually make a decent living with a CCNA certification or better, CCNP. Actually PCC is one of the very few JCs that offer CCNP and you can make a pretty good living with it. It's not easy. That's why it is worth it. If you want to make even better living, go for a computer science degree. But if you know a lot about computers, you can't go wrong.
By the way, CSULA has a very good engineering program and it is ranked one of top in the nation. I bet you didn't know that.
