Q: What's the best university search website that a not-american student can use ?
Im a not-american student that wishes to study in an american university , and im having some troubles finding the best university that can accept me. and I truely hope that there would be some kind of a website that aperson can use to search for universities in America ... and spiecially ones that doesnt require any SATs ... Hopefully u'll help me I really need some help

A: Use www.collegeboard.com. This is an excellent website to help you find the right college and it is not a scam. Most Americans know about it. They can help you with your preferences etc. Also you didn't mention if you were going to be a first time college student. assuming that you are. You may have to take an exam called TOFL. I might have it spelled wron or out of order. Other websites are: www.princetonreview.com www.fastweb.com fastweb helps you find colleges as well as jobs and internships and scholarships.

Q: Canadian banks giving out student loans to fund my American University cost?
Is it possible? I'm a Canadian citizen wanting to attend an American university. Are there student loans that I can take out there?

A: I wouldn't think so, but try asking the bank. I bank with the ScotiaBank, and since they're nazis, I wouldn't ask them. Try TD or Royal Bank. Don't ask Bank of Montreal because they're even bigger nazis than the scotiabank. And the Credit Union are communists, so don't bother with them. CIBC i think does things like that.

Q: Can a Canadian secondary school student apply for an American university?
American universities are more expensive than Canadian universities but American universities are better. I am ready to spend more money but I don't know whether I can go to an American university right after I graduate from high-school.

A: You absolutely can attend university in the US right from secondary school in Canada. Go to the web page for one of the universties that interest you, and check out their info for international students. They'll tell you what you need to do to apply in terms of transcripts, exams and etc. And yes, the SAT or ACT is unavoidable.

Q: How can I enter an american university to study Phd without making GRE exam?
I'm not an American citizen, so how can I enter a good university to continue my graduate study "Phd" without GRE exam, and to be teacher assistant ?

A: You'll still need to take the GRE, and if you want to be a TA, you'll need to get some minimum score on the TOEFL (test of english as a foriegn language). Many schools don't require you to pass the TOEFL before you begin your degree, but make you keep taking it before you can get a TA assistantship.

Q: transfering from American university to Canadian?
Is it possible to transfer from an American University to a Canadian one? What steps do you have to take? I am two years into a four year dietician program at a uni in the states. I think there is a demand for this profession in the city I am planning on moving to. I want to live in canada, a lot of my family is there. I could probably be sponsored pretty easily by family. Any help is appreciated.

A: Yes, it can be done. But transferring internationally can be a lot of work for you. First, get ahold of every syllabus for every class you've taken in America. What you want documented is how many hours a week were in the class, what book was used, what topics were taught, and whether or not it had a lab/seminar. Next you apply as a transfer student (the Canadian university should have directions on their website, or if you call them). That university will review your transcript and give you credit for the classes it deems appropriate (the easiest will be ones with the same title and credit hours as a class offered by the Canadian university). Do not be surprised if not all of your classes make it, or if they haven't given full credit for stuff they should have. The university will have an appeals process - through which you will challenge each of the classes that need fixing, present your proof (syllabus). If you can, get a meeting with someone in the transfer student or international student department. If you can get someone to sit down face to face with you, you can often get it done a lot easier. You may have to submit something in writing though. There may be additional classes you will need to take in order to fill the qualifications for their degree program. If you get stuck with a bunch of Gen Eds, make sure to look into opportunities to "test out" of those requirements - they won't necessarily tell you about that option. You definitely want to look into how hard it's going to be before you start any process. You may end up deciding it's worth it to finish your degree in the States before moving. If the degree program in Canada is very similar, this could be very easy. If the degree program in Canada is much different, then it could turn into a lengthy and stressful problem.

Q: Do you need to take the SATs to get into an American university?
I'm currently studying in the UK and after high school I would like to study design in New York. I'll be doing 10 GCSEs this year and am going to start my A Levels next summer. Is it essential to do the SATs to get into an American university? Thanks in advance.

A: No. Most universities require SAT or ACT scores, but not all do. Many art and design schools, in fact, do not require these scores. They require high school transcripts, a portfolio, recommendations, and financial documentation for visa purposes. Select the schools in New York where you would like to attend, and inquire about international admission requirements. Only the schools can indicate what is required and what is not. Good luck!

Q: what are the requirements to teach in an american university?
I would like to know the process one must go through to apply for and obtain a postion teaching in an american university

A: A master's degree in the field you are wanting to teach. Or a master's in something else and 16-18 master level credit hours in the field you want to teach.

Q: If 'm a US citizen, would The American International University in London consider me and international stude?
I'm having a hard time figuring out how the American Universiies work- theres one in London, Rome, Bulgaria, etc... Since it's an "American University" would an american citzen be considered international?

A: The answer to your question is yes, you would be considered an international student. The key word in the title is 'in'. So if it is called 'The American International University in London' (Rome, Paris, Madrid or where ever). The actual university itself is based/located in that country. So to apply to one of those institutions you would have to go through the procedures and fill the requirements of an international student, i.e taking the various tests/exams, visas etc.

Q: Is it easier to get into a UK university than an American university?
In American, universities look at your GPA, your SAT score, and your extracurricular achievements and activities. I feel that in the UK, universities only look at your A-Levels scores. People here could get 5's on 12 APs and still not get into an Ivy League school. Likewise, if you get three A's on your A-Levels you could get into Oxford. Do I have that right?

A: No, you don't have that right. It states on Oxford's website that all applications are considered carefully on their individual merits and tutors consider academic achievements, grades, personal statements and academic references as well as any written work or written test that may be required as part of the application. Also, they will have to attend at least one interview. The person above said four A-levels, it's three. Another qualification is GCSEs (taken before A-level) which may used as one indicator of academic ability. Lastly UK is not the right term as Scotland doesn't use A-levels. Hope this helps.

Q: Do I have a shot at getting into an american university?
I'm 21, Australian, been working for about 4 years in software development. I did up to year 10 in high school, then dropped out to begin work. Do I have a chance of getting into an American university? What steps should I take?

A: US universities come in all levels of quality. I'm sure that you can get into SOME American university if you get a GED. Let's hope you can even get into a good one.

Q: Probability of graduate admission to American university from Brazilian university?
Is it difficult to get admitted to an American university for graduate studies, with an undergraduate brazilian university diploma? Anything that would help?

A: Depends where you're applying to; some schools are more demanding than others and require a number of extra prerequisites. If you maintained a good grade point average and your records show some type of extra curricular involvement, you should do fine (some schools don't even look at that and/or are more lenient with international students). Good luck with everything :)
