University questions and answers
Q: Which American University provides the shortest programe to earn a master and Phd in economics?
Which university provides the few years to complete the phd after making a master (or equal). I would rather the top 50 universities.
A: I believe University of Maryland has some fast track options, where you can potentially earn a Master's in 1 year, and a Ph.D. in as little as 3.
Q: How does transfering from one university to another work?
Ok so i am going to go to Eastern Washington Unviersity for 2 years and then transfer to Washington State University. How does that work? Would i get the degree from Washington State University when i graduate? Would i graduate the same time as if i would go to Eastern for 4 years or would i have to take extra classes? Is there a big chance that i won't get accepted by Washington State University? Is it worth transfering or is it just a major headache?
A: Ok, I went to Seattle Pacific University and I want to transfer to UW. I talked to them and they said they only accept less from a university without an AA degree. I transfered to a community college close to home to get my AA degree and to get my gpa up because the classes are easier and my gpa is kind of low. You might have a chance if you're grades are high enough and you have taken all the classes you need to get into the major. I am pretty sure that a 4 year school does not offer a 2 year degree. Talk to their admissions and see, it's possible, but not too many people do it. I am sure it would be the same process if you were transfering from high school or with a 2 year degree. I hope this helps!
Q: Why is Stanford such a good university? Do I have to live there in order to attend that university?
Why is Stanford University 4th place for top ten best universities/colleges? Why can't it be 1st place?
A: why would you have to live in california to attend a university there? that wouldn't make any sense. i live in alaska and i'm going to attend a university in boston. stanford is amazing because of it's prestige, refined education system, and outstanding professors. however, it's not first because obviously it lacks some of what harvard, yale, and princeton have.
Q: what university in China is best to study international relations and public affair?
I would like to have my bachelor degree in China and I want to take International Relations and/or Public Affair as my major. What university in China is best for that major? Or maybe for other humanities major? Thank you so much, I really appreciate it.
A: If you're in the US and interested in studying international relations and public affairs abroad, the University of Hong Kong has an excellent international studies program offered to students who are enrolled in George Washington University. See http://www.gwu.edu/~elliott/academics/grad/studyabroad/hku.cfm
Hong Kong U. is the oldest tertiary school in Hong Kong and was ranked at 18 among the top 200 universities in the world by the UK's Times Higher Education Supplement. Its Faculty of Social Sciences was created in 1967 and has since undergone rapid expansion and great transformation. The faculty consists of the Depts. or Politics and Public Administration, Psychology, Social Work and Social Administration, Sociology, Statistics and Actuarial Science.
In the study abroad program, students can take courses in international politics, public policy, public administration, foreign policy, and East Asian regional studies.
Q: What university has the best program for communications/public relations?
I want to know which UC or CSU is best known for this area of study. Which is better a CSU or UC? I here the UC's are more theory and the CSU's are more hands on learning when it comes to the major, but UC's are looked more highly. What will get me a better job? Any details of programs at any reccomended university is highly appreciated!
A: here are some search results
Q: What makes a University education better than one from community college?
I'm trying to decide where to go to college, and i've been accepted to state universities, but am temped to go to community college because of the large price of a state university. I would transfer to a University in a couple of years.
What exactly is the difference between education from community college as opposed to a state university? Is it any better at a University, considering that it's twice the price? Will it effect my ability to get a job after college at all?
A: The credits you would receive at a community college for the first two years equate to that of a university because most community colleges offer the same exact general education requirements.
Most beneficial is the price of a community college. Why go to a university for the first two years of school to get the same credits for a whole lot more money?
However, you must eventually go to a university to finish your degree, bottom line. A college education on an application looks excellent, and if you want to pursue grad school, a bachelors degree is usually a requisite.
So if you plan on transferring, I say go to the community college first. And no, it will not hurt your image with prospective employment. What they will see is that you have a bachelor's degree from univesity 'X' in discipline 'Y'.
Q: Which university is better to become a director?
I heard about Film School Florida State University, USC School of Cinema, UCLA. Which is the best?
May be anyone know more info about these?
advantages and disadvantages?
Please, help to choose!
A: UCLA's great, but only if you're admitted to the school of theater film and television. If you only get admitted to the general college of letters and science, and you absolutely positively 100% know that directing/acting/arts stuff is what you want to do, then don't go to UCLA just for the sake of going to UCLA. If you to get into the film school, GO!
If, like mentioned above, you don't get into film, then USC's school of cinema is great. Honestly both schools are probably equally good (no one at either would honestly tell you that, but its true). Both have a plethora of amazing alumni in Hollywood, and have some of the greatest teachers you could ask for. UCLA, in my opinion, edges out USC a bit just based on tuition prices (unless you get financial aid at USC) and its location in Los Angeles as well as its overall school spirit and campus. 'SC, on the other hand is also an amazing school, not in the best neighborhood perhaps, but certainly a safe campus, and TONS upon TONS of school spirit.
Ultimately, I'd suggest visiting both UCLA and USC and meeting with admissions staff to discuss the qualities of both. They're great schools, and definitely worth the time.
Unfortunately, I don't know much about FSU's Film school, so i can't comment on it other than Florida has humid weather and alligators. If those two aren't your thing, then Flordia (as a state) is probably not for you.
Q: What is procedure to select the university in the my toefl ibt after the book exam date?

Q: Which top university (Ivy League colleges) should I go to if I want to start a multinational conglomerate?
I would like to know which school at a university is related to this subject. I took thought to Princeton and Harvard, but Princeton is my all time favorite.
A: Well, nobody STARTS a multinational conglomerate, but you can start a business. The problem is that Princeton doesn't have a business school at all. Your best bet would be the University of Pennsylvania if you want an Ivy, but Harvard or Columbia would be good too.
Q: Study Abroad : Does the University of Technology at Sydney have good science courses and a good prestige?
I'm from Mexico and I'm planning to go to Australia for a semester or maybe a year. My home institution has an exchange program with UTS at Australia and I was wondering if this university is good academically, and if it is good in science. Please can anyone give me any information about this university.
Would it look bad if I'm applying to a Medical School?
By the way, my major is Microbiology and I am pursuing a career in medicine.
A: G'day,
University of Technology Sydney (UTS) is one of only 43 universities in Australia. It is fully accredited and has equal recognition amongst Australia university. It is also a public university, so you do not have to worry abt it's reputation. It is located right-smack in the middle of Sydney's CBD, so close to the centre of activities. That's all that I can tell you abt the University's recognition and reputation. You may also want to re-post this question in Travel - Australia - Sydney as there are more Australians answering questions in that section.
I am not clear what do you mean by look bad if you apply to a medical school. If you want to know which uni offering medical course, just visit the online database below to get the list of uni and their websites.
Hope this helps. Good luck and welcome to Australia :)
Q: Is a university diploma suitable for work permit in south Korea teaching English?
I have seen too many postings saying you need a BA for teaching English positions. Can you get away with a diploma - Engineering to be precise, Or do I need to go back to university? I have the 4 week Trinity College TEFL as well.
A: You need a 4-year university degree. I'm guessing you are in England? In the US, a 4-year degree is a BA (or BS). If yours is the equivalent of that, you are fine. It can be in any subject area to get a work permit, though getting a job is usually a little easier the more closely it's related to English/teaching.
Q: What is the best university to study opera?
I want to study voice, opera specifically, in university, and I was wondering what uni or college is the best for it.
Universities and colleges from around the world is fine, but I'm liking America...
A: One of the best American universities for opera is Indiana University. They have about the best program around. Other great schools are Juilliard and Eastman (University of Rochester.) Any of these would be really brilliant!
One serious advantage of Juilliard is that it's right there in Lincoln Center, NYC, next to the Metropolitan Opera. HUGE bonus. Good luck!
Q: How do I find out if Columbia University and Cornell University offer accounting majors?
How do I find out if Columbia University and Cornell University offer accounting majors? I looked on their websites but it seems like they don't offer it, but that can't be possible right?
Obviously some people aren't genius enough to comprehend the question, let alone answer it properly. MS *cough* *cough*
A: If they're not on the website, which I find it hard to believe because they are both top notch IVY league schools, just call up the colleges via the majors department and ask them. They'll be more than happy to tell you.
Q: What school is better University of Houston or University of Texas?
Wich would be a better school UH Or University of Texas at Arlington. If I am planning to major in architecture. Price does not matter and I am sure I can get into both of them I just dont know wich is better in architecture.
A: I don't know how UH is in terms of education, but I have a friend at UH who I visited a few weeks ago on campus and she is honestly scared to death of living on campus (which she does live on campus). I saw it myself... it's pretty ghetto and frightening and definitely not as nice, as say Texas A&M.
