Q: Finish an entire grade on virtual school?
I am interested in doing Florida Virtual school full time for 11th grade, but as an international student, since i don't get credits in my country, and i'm planning to move to florida for college. But i was wondering if i got a g.p.a. off of virtual school? i know they don't give high school degrees witch is why i plan on moving to florida for 12th grade, but will i get a certificate saying i passed 11th grade? (so i don't have to do it over again when i move?)
A: You can not go to Flarida Virtual school unless you live in the state. Even if you know you will be living there for college.
Q: 10 Points, Urgent Question about Florida Virtual School?
I have to re-take a whole credit of Algebra 2 Honors, I need 2 kno if it's possible for me to finish within a month or less. Like can i work at my own pace (extra fast- spending 6 hours each day) or does da virtual school control how much work u do. If I don't finish this course I'll get kicked out of my school.
A: My daughters go to Florida Virtual School. You can work as fast as you want. The only problems you might encounter is if you need to schedule any oral exams or if you have to wait to go on until a test is graded.(I don't think you will run into that very often, if at all.) I do believe you should be able to accomplish this.
They allow you to choose an accelerated pace, and make sure you explain your urgency to the teacher.
Good Luck!
Q: How to get started with Florida Virtual School homeschooling?
Do I go to my traditional public school and tell them I want to withdraw then sign up for flvs? What if I already have an account with flvs but it is assigned to my traditional public school right now?
Also what are the paperworks I have to do to be homeschooled in the state of Florida?
A: the homeschool website has the list of required documents.
Q: What is your opinion of the virtual school ohva.org if you have experienced it?
I am thinking about putting my daughter in it next school year but I want to some reviews first before I do.
A: This is my 3rd year in the OHVA high school and I love it. It was a big adjustment during the first year (almost entirely because it is a virtual school and EVERYTHING is online) but it is an excellent school. The teachers are very helpful and the guidance counselors go out of their way to make sure things run smoothly.
I have two younger sisters (one in the OHVA middle school and the youngest in elementary) and they also love the program. All three levels cover so much more than "regular" public schools.
Q: I'm thinking of taking Virtual High School courses, will this ruin my chances of getting into a good school?
I already finished 9th grade and was basically at the top of my class. School is unchallenging and way too slow for me. So I think Virtual High School will move at a faster pace which is exactly what I want.
But will Ivy League Schools and good colleges frown upon them?
A: As long as the courses are ,more rigorous than the regular high school, and are accredited and able to be accepted by colleges, you should be OK. BUT, I would contact some colleges directly as you want this type of info from the horses' mouth. This would be a good time to call them, as they are done with recruitment for the year. I would also look for unusual projects (science, study abroad, debate teams or something along those lines) to help you stand out. You might be able to start college courses as a "senior."
Q: Florida Virtual School! How long does it take to complete one class/course?
Can i finish a course/class in a small amount of time? I'd really like to graduate my Junior year in high school.
A: I think the accelerated pace is 18 weeks or less and the regular is 36 weeks, it all depends on how fast you work.
Q: What do I do about Florida Virtual School?
I am doing this online learning school and last year I didnt want to deal with drama and im a full time dancer so doing online scool would have fit me better, it was ok until i figured that it is impossible to be done by the end of summer and I am ready to go back to regular high school its just to much responsibility so what should I do?
I am doing this online learning school and last year I didnt want to deal with drama and im a full time dancer so doing online scool would have fit me better, it was ok until i figured that it is impossible to be done by the end of summer and I am ready to go back to regular high school its just to much responsibility so what should I do? I dont think its possible to quit and if I dont finish I dont pass its too much work and i dont even have a summer..HELP ?!?!?
A: It takes a lot of dedication to do online schooling. Unlike a regular school where you have homework every day and it is due by a certain date, online you get to work at your own pace.
If you are having trouble finishing at this point, it sounds like you put off the work and didn't work consistently throughout the school year. As a result everything is now due all at once. Online education works, but only if you are willing to work on the lessons daily and try to finish early. You need to see what you can get done at this late date and try to get some credits. You may not be able to get everything done, but some credit is better than none.
Talk to your teachers and see what you need to do to pass classes. Pick the class that you have the most done and try to get it done this week. Pick another class and try to finish it next week. Set a goal of finishing so many lessons every day and get to that goal. You can finish at least part of the lessons, but you have to be willing to work. Set small goals to accomplish the large goal.
Q: Do you have to enroll in a homeschool to be able to homeschool with Florida Virtual School
i want to become a homeschooled student but right now i'm currently a public school student and to enroll with florida virtual school u have to be enrolled in a physical school so do i have enroll wit h a homeschool to be a full-time florida virtual school student? and if i do what tuition free homeschool would you reccomend?
A: I believe that Florida Virtual School is a part of the public school system-meaning that while you work at home like a homeschooler, you are not a homeschooler in a traditional sense. You are considered a public school student.
I believe that you would use the virtual option while enrolled in your current public school-consult your guidance counselor.
Q: can you take a whole school year at florida virtual school.com?
if you do would the classes count as full credit....
how do i convince my parent's to let me joined?
is no that i hate school is just that is that classes are dumb , i'm really smart the thing is that i'm lazy... but i think that if i take it online i wont be as lazy because i could do it at my own time.
A: Online classes will be the toughest classes you have ever taken. I am sure of that! I don't want you to go into this misinformed. You will have to spend many hours completing online courses. They are not for the slouch. If you are determined to work very hard, you can get a degree you can be proud of and possibly even do it in less time than with a standard school. Yes, you can take the FVS program for full credit. The classes you have already taken in high school will count toward your high school degree, too.
As for convincing your parents, just be honest about your desires to work hard and complete your degree without distractions. If you know you are lazy, you will have to admit that and overcome it with the rigor of the online schedule. You won't be able to merely do things on your "own time" because there will be a syllabus for each class and you will be required to have assignements in on time. Late assignments will hurt your overall grade. However, it is true that, in a way, you complete the work on your own time. You can turn off the computer to go out to eat lunch with your parents or do your school work at 1 AM, if that is when your body and brain work best. Make sure you know what you are getting into and check your state's home school laws. If you enroll in FVS, you will get a degree from a florida high school, but if you live in a different state, there may still be some home school laws of which you will need to be in compliance. Check www.hslda.org for information on your state laws. Do your research and show yor parents that you are driven to make your home schooling work. If you have not been an independant worker in the past, you will have to assure them that this is one thing you will be learning through the virtual school. One last thing, you can't do a virtual school with just plain old dial up. If that is what you have, it really is not possible to get the work done. You will become frustrated with things like the server timing you out just when you go to send an assignment you spent 2 hours typing. Can you say, "ARG!"?
Best to you.
Q: online virtual high school in los angeles?
I'm a 9th grader in high school and I just want to start taking online virtual high school starting from my my second semester. Would it be a problem to start of from the already begun school year. i already took my first semester in public school. Does anyone know any online schools that this wouldnt be a problem for?
im located in los angeles, california.
thank you.
A: You've asked this three times now. Here's my same answer. Check into CAVA. It's probably too late to enroll for this semester, though:

Q: what would be better, Florida Virtual School Online or actually going to my school?
ive been going to orange park HS for 2 years now . and it pretty much sucks . i want to do online schooling but im debating.
A: I go 2 regular high school and also take the Florida Virtual School Online and the online school is WAY easier. For each class you usually have to do 3-4 assignments per week so you can just do them in an hour or 2 and your done for the week.
Q: While taking a test on virtual school, are you allowed to open tabs?
The rules I have been given say that I cannot use more that one browser, but does that mean that I can open new tabs within the browser?
A: lol i do it all the time, but my school has an open book policy. We also need to know what school you attend to get the right answer. However i wouldn't rely on the answers you get here. Call your school or email to find out for sure.
Q: Has anyone here taken Florida Virtual school for physical science?
I need a little help plz.
A: No
But I looked at their examples. It wasn't bad. It's FREE if you're in florida otherwise it costs.
Q: whats your take on virtual school for teens?
they've been asking to be home schooled for years.
A: I think it is great for families and children who are committed to learning. It does not give you as much control as traditional homeschooling, but it is a great bridge for those who want to teach their children at home but don't want to go it alone.
Here is some information about computer based homeschooling:
http://www.successful-homeschooling.com/computer-based-homeschooling.html
Keep in mind that your children will have to be more proactive in terms of completing their assignments and finding social activities outside of the home (if your charter school program does not provide them).
Here are some ideas for activities:

It will be an adjustment for all of you, but it can definitely work.
Good luck!
Q: is it possible to enter a k12 virtual school in a different state?
it sounds like a stupid question but...
A: Not a stupid question. The answer is no, though. It's the same if you lived in one state and tried to attend a public "brick & mortar" school in another state - it depends on taxes. However, if you're military and your home state has a K12 VA, then you possibly could do it.
You *can* do K12 on your own as an independent homeschooler, but you have to purchase the curriculum yourself, not have it provided by the public virtual school. We're starting our 5th year of K12 that way. It's called "Consumer Direct" on their site.
